Swap octavia VRS tsi 230 2018 in black 41k miles for diesel
Perhaps what you need is some driver discipline rather than a diesel. I have a diesel VRS and they arent slow either. I would keep your car but change how you drive it.

This is probably an old topic. SD card for my vehicle
You have to use android auto and plug your phone in. The system does not have sat nav installed but it uses the google maps app from your phone and displays it on the screen.

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
Well I did not think I would be having to change my front tyres so soon. Both have about 3.5mm left so a few thousand miles left. However on the motorway today my tpms pinged and said pressure loss front left tyre. Pulled over and checked pressure. Was at 2.55 bar. Then saw the huge nail right on the edge of the tyre in the tyre wall. My heart dropped so getting more Goodyear Asy 5s fitted and getting the pair done. At least it wasn't the rears that were only fitted 6 weeks ago.

How can I make my RS230 sound like a Golf GTI / R?
In fairness the only thing that will sound like a Golf GTi or R is a Golf GTi or R. Apart from buying a custom exhaust and building it with varying resonators to replicate the noise. But that will be trial and error and expensive.

You could try a resonator delete.

vRS Door Safety Lights
My car had the led bulbs fitted by the previous owner and raised fault codes. I refitted oe filament bulbs and they are actually brighter than the leds. The leds were directional so only had a bit of light on the top side. The oe lamps lit all around and are far better. Unless you are going to fit something like the units from superskoda that shine the emblem onto the floor you might as well keep your money with swapping to leds.

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
My favourite car I have ever owned and driven was my mk1 Focus RS. Handled like a rally car. A bit underpowered as standard but mine made 281bhp with a few bits from Graham Goode Racing. That coincidentally was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sports (directional) and was what made me like Michelins.

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
In fairness I like the std setup on the Octy. Mine is totally standard apart from the blanking plate on the intake. It does roll a bit but that is just generating grip. I do balance the car through corners etc as I am trained to the system of car control and it shifts. I think this is the first car I have not modified apart from some coding.

They did come 1st equal but it does note the Michelin is not most sporty feeling or responsive. So for me the Goodyears Asy 5s are the better option. Cost less with the same performance. The last Pilots I had were the 3s until I got my Focus ST with Goodyear Asy 2 fitted. That was the changing point when I made the switch and havent had Michelins since.

Campaign 23AX
Personally I dont think the Government should get any money with the way they mismanage public funds and claim for everything under expenses. I know for sure if I do get any money some will go towards the RSPCA and other charities that are deserving of funds.

Campaign 23AX
I didnt when I purchased mine. Think of it like buying a new build house (never would as they are small and poor quality) They promise you a dream house and you invest in what they sell you. However the reality is different. Wouldnt you feel cheated that you spent your hard earned money on something that didnt deliver what was promised? Such as TVs and phones, clothing etc. Cars are no different. They are a product. I know I felt cheated and it tainted my ownership. What I didn't realise is that it covered the EA288 engine aswell of recent. I always thought it was purely down to the EA189 engine. The emissions scandal covers engines upto 2019. VW clearly dont care and have made billions selling cars that dont do what they should. So who are the mugs, VW for doing what they did or for us consumers putting up with it?

Campaign 23AX
That isnt for me to decide and is down to the UK courts as to what they consider is appropriate. It is impossible to accurately know in fairness. Would I have got a better price for my car had the scandal not hit, no doubt about it as the garage had to take a risk and had to sell on that car and still make a profit. They did not know if there would be a market for this engine and how future values would be. Are people sceptical about claiming and the morales surrounding it. Sure there are. I would imagine they are the same ones who didnt claim for ppi. I did and that was what changed my mind about future claims. I got a lot of money from ppi. I was one of the ones who took the morale high ground and wouldnt claim for anything citing greed and other things. But is it greed? Open to debate. Or is it making huge greedy companies who are happy to sell you a car which doesnt do as they said it would (mis-selling) and walk away with your money laughing, hold to account they tried to cheat the emissions system to save them money. But in doing so increasing emissions and pollution to our country and damaging peoples health. I know VW dont care about it and they only accepted there was a cheat when a court found them guilty said they had to sort it out. This was allnto save them money from making new engines to meet the stricter emmisions targets but ended up in the long run costing them billions and damaging their brand reputation.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it is right or wrong. A lot of people had the update who were clueless about cars and suffered. I did not as I sold it soon afterwards. You can take a morale stance with these types of situations and I was like you, never claimed for anything. I work and am in the top 10% of earners. However now id rather be that person with a cheque in my hand than the one who hasnt.

Campaign 23AX
I see your point, however if you can claim why not. Other people are world wide and why should car companies get away scot free selling us products that are not as described. It is personal choice if you claim. Look at all the issues the mk2 had with the software update after the scandal hit. Most people had failing egrs soon after and reduced mpgs. Not the car you signed up for whether new or used. I can see the mk3 having the same issues with this software update. It is supposed to alter the warm up cycle and reduce the impact on the catalytic convertor for higher mileage vehicles. All that and not reducing the economy or performance. Why bother with the update as the catalytic convertor is a consumable item, so if it fails or emmisions are high then you fit a new one. More to it than what we are being told as a consumer.

Basically the depreciation loss on the cars value once the scam hit. Plus issues surrounding emmisions.

I have registered my claim with a company called Charles Lyndon who are based in London. I am not sure of exact compensation expected as VW appear to fighting the UK claim. They have paid thousands in compensation in europe from media posts so it will be a wait and see. However it us no win no fee so comes with minimal risk claiming. That's why I put two in.

Guessing you have the 18s fitted and not 19s. Huge price difference. Goodyears in 18s are £87 per tyre. In 19s, £137. Still compare that to the PS4. That is a saving of £52 for 4 tyres. Goodyear still gets my vote as they out do each other at various tyre tests. But the Goodyears always come out cheaper.

It is about emmisions now. I submitted a claim under the vw emmisions scam for my old mk2 VRS and it covers models upto 2019 now. Basically we thought the euro 6 had escaped the scam but clearly not. Second claim submitted for my current 2015 VRS.

Bolero Change.
@SashaGrace will be able to answer this one.

regen
Try the following:- 1) Clear faults for engine 2) Change to EOL service mode 3) Login with code 27971 4) Basic Settings > Service DPF Regeneration (cant remember the exact wording) 5) Long press the green button (it will say it exited due to safety) 6) Turn off engine (ignition still on) 7) Turn on engine 8) Do steps 3 to 5 again 9) This time it will say "Not Active" 10) Press brake for a few seconds 11) Then let go of brake and press accelerator until status shows Active 12) Engine should be revving

regen
I would get it scanned to see what code(s) are stored. Most likely you will need to get a service regen done. If you have access to vcds or obdeleven you can do this yourself. Or contact a dpf cleaning company who will clean the dpf and reset everything for you.

Vrs Exhaust Trims (petrol)
The best bet would be to scour salvage yards for crash damaged cars.

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
In fairness all Michelin tyres are expensive nowadays. I used to swear by the Pilot Sports but switched over to the Goodyear F1s. I find the F1 are just the same grip and handling wise but significantly cheaper.

Mk IV ride quality far worse than my MkIII - Is this normal or do I have a fault?
Also check the tyre pressures. No car dealer I have purchased a car has ever got the correct tyre pressure. Most are massively over inflated. Sometimes it can also be the brand of tyre that is fitted that has a stiff tyre wall. However with all that being said and if everything else checks out okay. Don't forget you are comparing a brand new car to your old one that has suspension that is bed in and will now be softer than when new.

Excessive tire wear
I was charged £75. They are one of only a few main dealers in the coutry with about 50k worth of alignment equipment. Most hunter alignment centres want that plus x amount per adjustment.
