  1. Mind wore down so I got it aligned at Preston Skoda. Worked out cheaper than most garages charge now for 4 wheel alignment.
  2. Does it show the state of battery charge? It could simply be the batteries are recharging or something daft like that. If it persists I would take it back to Skoda with some photographic evidence.
  3. My next car will either be the mk4 VRS, most likely the 2.0tsi and switch back to petrol. Or a Superb L&K 280 4x4. Not sure if I will go for the mk3 (used) or mk4? However little gremlins wouldn't put me off from buying. The issue with cars nowadays is that they are very complicated and over software driven. You are bound to get issues but as long as Skoda pick up the repair bill I wouldnt worry about it.
  4. Just be prepared to lose any warrranty on the engine as it will raise a td1 flag. They say they dont but when the ecu works out of predefined parameters and cannot find a fault it will automatically raise the td1 flag.
  5. It might be engine or variant specific. It would be interesting to compare your car to the ops car.
  6. I use obdeleven which does the same job for coding, scans etc. But it uses a dongle and you can use your phone or tablet to run it on. I went with obdeleven over vcds for two reasons. It is cheaper and I can keep the dongle in the car and use whenever I need it in case of an emergency.
  7. Might be worth contacting H&R directly to see if they can supply the one.
  8. It looks like a map sensor which reads absolute pressure.
  9. It will be a main dealer only for these. Or TPS may sell them but it will need to be reprogrammed to the car.
  10. DSG is just as reliable as a manual given care and serviced at the specific intervals. The mechatronic ecu can go faulty and it can be costly. But with the newer ones they are more reliable than the older ones. I have the DQ250 6 speed on my car and it is my first DSG. Really like it and I would buy another without hesitation.
  11. You get gremlins with any car. The 1.5tsi stutter is a well documented problem but I believe VAG have done a fix for it. I wouldnt be put off by it as any car can have issues. I would go and enjoy your test drive. Like you I will make the switch back to petrol next year. Either a new Skoda Octavia VRS petrol hybrid or the 2.0TSi. However I have my eye on a Superb 280 L&K.
  12. Generally not. I drive to the system (advanced driving) and always brake early and smoothly. Never last minute unless having to do an emergency brake. Or unless the wife drives the car and forgets there isn't a clutch pedal. #whiplash 🤣 Just a thought I would also check your pads, as they might be vibrating in the caliper housing with build up of brake dust and crud on the lip where the pads slide on.
  13. My discs are the originals and they have done 72000 miles with no shuddering or warping. They will be due for a change this year but I am going to fit Skoda disc and pads again.
  14. The best way would be to adjust your driving style. Brake earlier and dont rely on your brakes to stop you last minute. I generally don't sit with the foot brake on. I put my dsg into neutral and put the handbrake on. For quick stop/go at junctions I do use the foot brake but not if i am waiting for any length of time. Do they shudder under light pressure or heavy braking?
  15. Perhaps the issue is the with the dmf that was fitted. It might not be fitted correctly.
  16. I would unplug the front right light harness and spray some electrical cleaner on it. Then plug it in and out a few times to ensure the cleaner get to all th4 connections. My guess would be some moisture has gotten inside and module is reading a higher resistance so thinks it is faulty.
  17. My best guess would be worn rear engine mount.
  18. If it only does it when cold it is because the glow plugs are heating up. Mine is keyless and it takes about the same time when I push the button. When it is warm it starts straight away.
  19. If you got the registration plate of the lorry then I would make a claim through your insurance.
  20. The jets can be blocked so you can use a needle to poke down the jets. Equally I would check the boot to see if any screenwash is leaking inside as the screenwash pipe may have popped off from the inside. Do you hear a noise from the pump when actilivating the rear screenwash?
  21. What one dealership does and doesnt do will vary. Some are official Skoda Garages and others are franchise owned by parent companies such as Arnold Clark etc. Either way I would raise a complaint with the dealer principal to find out exaclty what was done on the test route and what the technician was testing for by switching the modes etc. They might have been checking all the profiles whilst driving and checking for the fault as they do alter the behaviour of certain parameters etc. Equally he/she might have been joy riding in your car.
  22. Usually the petrol filter is under the car near to the fuel tank.
  23. If cost is a factor then I wouldnt bother doing it for a bit of extra noise.
  24. It is but still worth changing after 5 years. Usually you can get it done cheaper when booked in with other work.
  25. I had mine done at Volks Service in blackpool who are a VAG specialist. Charged me (from memory) either £360 or £370 for the work and used genuine parts. You do get two years parts warranty from Skoda but it doesnt cover the labour charge. For me that would be nearly £170 saving at that price.
