  1. Any smaller capacity engine will ultimately start to struggle once laden and going uphill. You need to drive them to suit and that usually means revving them, which decreases economy. I am not a fan of smaller engines but equally I understand the need for manufacturers to do their bit and make more economical cars. If money allowed I would spend the extra and get the 1.4tsi.
  2. Fog lights only light up a few meters in the road and not in the distance. Okay for maneuvering but at anything above 10mph are useless. People fit new bulbs but dont get them setup properly. Some are still set too low and consequently arent any better. Others are pointing up too high which again is pointless but causes dazzle to oncoming traffic. Most mot garages have the equipment to align the bulbs correctly.
  3. From memory it was a small remote control you keep in the car.
  4. Have you tried doing a reset on it. Just hold the power button down till it resets and see if that works.
  5. I would get the BCS with powervalve so you can have it quiet or noisy at a push of a button. Plus the build quality from BCS is second to none. My old exhaust was like a piece of art.
  6. After fitting the springs did you get the geometry checked?
  7. I would speak to the finance company and see what they offer with the refinance option. Then you can compare that to what it would cost to pay off the balance. Equally you could approach Skoda and see what they can do with ordering an estate for next year and how they can help. That way you can decide which is the better option for you.
  8. It might be worth getting it looked at by someone with VCDS/OBDeleven and scanning it. Or book it in at a Skoda garage and let then scan it with their system.
  9. Why not go a similar colour to rado grey as found on the mk3 Focus ST. I always liked that colour and it doesnt show up brake dust as much.
  10. I purchased OBDeleven pro version from Amazon. You can use your phone to connect to your car and do all the coding. When I checked my battery it had been coded with lower amps than it actually had and also was coded as the wrong type of battery and not an AGM.
  11. Rather than coding why dont you just turn them on manually.
  12. Is it over specific road surfaces as they can induce vibrations.
  13. I used to use performance filters but not anymore. There is very little difference in flow rates compared to a paper filter. I had a k&N fitted in my stage 2+ Octy and had a boost fluctuation in the mid range. Put in a standard paper filter and the fluctuation was gone with no loss of performance. If you can get nearly 340bhp from a stage 1 Golf R using the standard intake and panel filter then clearly it flows enough air.
  14. My advice is to keep remembering to only use your right leg. My wife forgot a few times thinking the brake pedal was the clutch = very sharp braking and whiplash 🤣
  15. Like the last recession prices will drop as people will be risk averse about taking on new finance and some people will have less available income. Just wait till the tax payer has to start paying the covid bill for all the people who were furloughed. Lots of redundancy and unemployment putting increased strain on the benefit system for those less fortunate to get another job. The cost of living will rise again causing less usable income for people. Tax and NI will no doubt be raised to pay back furlough Hopefully self employed will pay more tax as they were paid at the same rate as an employed worker. We are all cosey at the moment but give it a few months and it will kick in fully. Anyhow I am going off topic. Stick to the 19s as they look better and I am lead to believe are lighter per wheel.
  16. Are there any fault codes logged? Getting new ones fitted will be expensive as the job is quite labour intensive. I would let a garage who knows these engines take a look and diagnose the fault. It may save you a lot of money if it is a sensor fault etc.
  17. How long have you had the car and has it always done it? Does VCDS show you the ash levels etc.
  18. That is why I dont buy new cars. To lose nearly half its value in just 9 months is insane. Now with covid 19 and new car sales almost at a stop compared to last year. Used car values will depreciate further as people are not changing their cars like they were.
  19. I think you can alter the speed the sensors work upto.
  20. Wouldnt work. Darkside Developments have done a lot of work on these engines looking at what does and doesnt work. The standard turbos max out at about 210bhp. Anything above that and you need a bigger turbo and better fuel pump. He found that egts got hot above that power and lomg term would cause damage. The main issue is he found was the intake and exhaust valves are not front and back as most engines are. They run side by side which is good for efficiency and emissions but not for making horse power. The development Golf he used had a bigger turbo, fuel pump and head ported and polished and only made 280 something bhp. Normally he would have expected well into the mid 300s with that work. The standard chargecooler worked very well and did not need upgrading as well as the standard intake and filter. They worked totally fine with the larger turbo and there was no gain by fitting an aftermarket intake system or boost hoses.
  21. When the particulate filter had been cleaned. Did the garage reset the learning counter to tell the ecu the particulate filter is empty?
  22. Chances are you either have a loose speaker cover which vibrates at certain frequencies associated with speech. Next time it happens try pushing gently on the speaker grille and see if that stops it. If the speaker was out of phase it would not rattle but would sound quieter than the others and flat. Chances are it might be the voice coil going and need a new speaker. I am lead to believe the new speaker is fairly cheap from Skoda and easy to replace.
  23. If you dont mind a drive to Leeds. Tony Banks custom exhuasts are excellent.
  24. Try this CAR Menu With this mod, we activate new options in Settings-lights where we can control the lights by area. 1 - Module 09 - Electronic. Code (31347) 2 - Extended Code (Bytes Mode) 3 - Byte 17 4 - Enable Bit 3 (Control ambient light) 5 - Enable Bit 2 (All Areas) 6 - Enable Bit 1 (light intensity door)
  25. 312 will work fine on your car. 312 were fitted to my mk2 VRS with 280 plus bhp and never failed to stop me.
