  1. Just so you know where you stand. Legally the fact they gave you £800 off the price of the car does not absolve them of the responsibility to repair a fault. Equally they should be paying for your car to be either collected to take it back to them to be repaired locally or at a garage nearby to you. They are fobbing you off, simple as that. If you remove the dpf and it is found out it will be an mot fail. I would push the dealer and site the Comsumer Rights Act 2015. If they refuse I would contact Citizens Advice/Trading Standards who can take it on your behalf.
  2. If the soot (oil ash) mass was at 5.0g when you first got the car. It sounds like the last owner reset it My oil ash mass is at 37.5g at 88600 miles. I would presume it was reset to prevent a dpf light from activating. Either that or the last owner got it cleaned but I cannot see someone spening a few hundred pounds only only to sell it.
  3. VRS are all 55mm struts.
  4. The responibility of the garage does not stop with whatever warranty they offer. By law they are responsible for any fault that happens during the 6 months. I would speak with the dealer owner and mention the issues and also quote the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If they use the 'we do not have repair facilities on site' then they are by law obligated to pay for your car to be repaired at a garage. If not I would mention Citizens Advice and also small claims court. You would win a claim easily but you have to offer them the chance to rectify it or reject it for a full refund in the first 28 days.
  5. A faulty Glow plug may not always raise a eml to begin with. You can check the resistance of the plugs on a multi meter to see if they are at fault.
  6. If you purchased from a garage then take it back for them to fix or fit a new one. The garage has a responsibility in law for any fault that happens during the first 6 months under the Comsumer Rights Act 2015.
  7. If yours is the facelift it will have thr 312mm brakes and 272mm on the rears. The best place to buy them is from Autodoc. I got genuine TRW discs and pads both front and rear for £168 all in. That was for the larger 340mm discs aswell so the 312mm ones are cheaper.
  8. Could simply be the glowplugs are not heating up correctly and on the way out.
  9. Depending where you are in the Northwest. Volkservice Blackpool are excellent and VAG specialists. Mine uses about the same now on 88000 miles. I think if the car drives fine it is cheaper to just buy more oil. That is what I am doing until it shows signa of a failure. Looking at other threads people have spent thousands and changed turbochargers, pcv valve in the cylinder head cover, new piston and piston rings. I think one person fitted slighlty larger piston rings and this reduced the oil consumption.
  10. I would ask to speak to the dealer principal and air your concerns but remain calm and composed. Usually they can come to a solution and ask if the car has been re-coded to try and fix it. Failing that I would ask for a written report on the logging issue and why it was not done correctly, as that has meant possibly a faulty part is not being replaced under warranty when normally it should have.
  11. It might be as simple as the module recoding to factory spec. Have they tried that to see if that fixes the issue? Control modules are like mini pcs and if the software gets corrupted they will not work. It is something I would be asking for to start with.
  12. If you switch to 5w 40 just make sure it is low sapps, else it will block the dpf quicker. The EA288 engine is known for high oil usage. Plenty of posts on here about it. If you are looking at modifying the engine the most you will get is around 280bhp and to get that you have to spend some serious cash. Even to get to 250bhp will cost a few thousand pounds. Chances are if the dpf is still fitted then the turbo will be standard. Most who go hybrid remove the cat and dpf. I would be looking at possibly a sticky wastegate if your car is slow to build boost low down.
  13. The part number should be printed on the side of the turbo somewhere.
  14. Have they checked to see if the silicone bag is still intact and not split. If split it will have blocked the heater matrix.
  15. I do this most days. I enjoy a more relaxed drive now and find it far more enjoyable than being the d***head driving in lane 2 or 3 at xxmph. Plus there are now a lot of unmarked Police vehicles on the road. We have an unmarked Mini John Cooper Works All 4 at work and that catches a lot of people unaware. Not worth driving fast unless you are on a track in my opinion.
  16. I would not call Skoda a VAG specialist or a diesel specialist. They only plug a car in and check fauly codes then follow a manual. If this go to page etc. Hopefully the tuning specialist will have a rolling road to do some live logs and see what is happening. Sadly if you sell the car it will be at a reduced cost given the car is not running well. Most places will take the car for a test drive and it will be obvious it doesnt drive correctly. Hopefully you will get it sorted 👍
  17. I would look locally to you for a VAG specialist who can do some live logs and see what is going on.
  18. You will get them a lot cheaper on Autodoc.
  19. The DPF should not block in 2 days no matter how few a miles you do. Did the company reset the DPF value in the engine control unit? If they just cleaned it and did not reset the value the car will still think it is blocked. Either way it is not wasted money because at some point it would need cleaning.
  20. Sounds like mine did when the aircon gas was low. Might be worth getting the levels checked.
  21. I already have the front radar and cruise control. How easy is it to install the Active Cruise Control,? Thanks Matt
  22. Try JKM Portsmouth as they are VAG specialists.
  23. The only sure way to find out is to get the undertray off and see where it coming from.
  24. Have you had the alignment done recently?
  25. I use Asy 5 and never had an issue with grip, well apart from when it snows. They are wearing well as still have over 4mm left and done nearly 14,000 miles on them so far. I think they came with around 7mm of tread new (from memory)
