D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanPhotos are from internet search, not from my camera. I have take some photos for fuel consumption only, i have some video while driving but was many years ego and low resolution. The road is great but one way, we don't have such a road here so we always must pay attention where the other car is, when we are in country roads with high dry grass (example) we are double-cautious, those you aren't (young recless drivers or foreigners which don't pay attention to the field) often involved in accidents. I wish i had abjustable suspension, now i am on the 1st scale and the shock absorbers must removed to adjust them in 2nd when the time comes. In motorcycles was ''piece of cake''.

Skoda Felicia Understeer
You put higher tyre profile (Skoda never suggest that) probably with higher psi for "comfort". You have normal suspension, not strut brace and no antirolling bar. Your car and your skills are not for turns but for Highways only. Don't drive in roads like this and don't take passengers with you. Before you born in 1995 the 4T magazine made a road test in Felicia, you know where? In my place, in our Mountain Roads and explained the car's behaviour in turns, the article had some photos with comments about inclination-understeer etc. I bought that edition and i read-ask about Felicia before i buy it.

D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanGreek country roads, an example: Imagine this in a turn. Now a bigger photo, see where the car goes to. I never said "fast as i can", i am not a Kamikaze, in all of my photos my car in inside the lane. I see no bad thing to choose a Mountain Route with turn for a ride, personally i would hate to drive in long Highways as have in USA.

D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanFrom village to village the roads have 3 major problems: the potholes, the tall dry grasses in the turns and the pine needles which make the line narrower and slippery. The responsible for is situation the Region, they don't give money for maintenance and soon these roads from ''Fun to drive'' are converted to ''Nightmare to drive". You can not drive Sport style, you can not make an overtake and no matter if the environment is good (fresh air, trees etc) and the road has many turns the danger is always lurks. Only SUV and 4x4 vehicles can pass, all the others have problem especially those with modified suspension, once upon a time these roads were a pleasure and now the government abandoned them.

Skoda Felicia Insurance (cost-coverages) in 2024
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanCOMPENSATION FOR MATERIAL DAMAGE DUE TO TRAFFIC COLLISION. REDUCTION OF SPARE PARTS PURCHASE EXPENSES DUE TO OLD VEHICLE 2021 An unprecedented decision of the Magistrate's Court reduced the purchase cost of specific spare parts but also the labor cost of installing these spare parts as inflated, judging that the car was old and therefore there was no need to install a new spare part but a used one. For this reason, he reduced the award of the purchase amount of spare parts by 60% and repair work by 50% ..... However, the age of the car (Renault Megane, with a 1598cc petrol engine) and date of first release 2003 which exceeded 16 years at the time of the accident, does not justify the installation of a new spare part.

D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanIf you have done serious modifications in your car then in case of an accident this can turn to you as boomerang. The insurance company will send an experience employee and of course don't expect to take a compensation if your super-fancy lowered bumper broke in a ramp. The huge-out the limits engine modifications (as big turbo) can "bite you" in the Court of Law in case of accident because first of all the prosecutor and the lawyer will mention this and the judge won't show mercy.

Felicia fuel tank capacity and TC-6 measurements
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanTC-6 works alongside with the factory gas tank floater and as the needle in the dashboard gauge moves a bit up and down (depending on the road) the same way the Total FC (with the Greek Σ symbol) while the car is moving is one click higher than the measurement when the car stops in a level surface. Not something significant just a very tiny error. We know about the new cameras in UK that can detect a person using his phone while driving, they have shown to us photos of real snapshots as an example. I took some photos as a proof of real FC numbers because i never believed those "fantastic" that i have read, it's not convenient and make me nervous to try to take a good photo while driving but i had to do it.

Skoda Felicia Insurance (cost-coverages) in 2024
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThe insurance companies here don't ask or don't examine if your car is modified (ECU chip or exhaust etc) although when you ask for extra i.e Broken Glass they ask for 4 photos with today's newspaper headlines visible to prove that the car has all the glasses and they are intact. If you add more coverages an insurance agent asks you to have a meeting to see your car by close.

Felicia fuel tank capacity and TC-6 measurements
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman@nta16 : Here back in the 2T sport motorcycles era there were guys here which brag that their motorcycle burns more fuel than normal (or other guys same model motorcycle) because ''is modified with far more HP". Those years the gasoline prices were too low and ''fixed'' by government Law and those swaggerer-guys find that way for show-off. Now that 2 stroke era finished the situation reversed, from few drivers we have comments ''my car is in top condition, i can find any spare part i want, it's very economical" and blah blah and of course only kids and housewives believe them. Later came the guys with Diesel cars (''i spend far more less fuel than you and i travel much more kilometres than you") and now we have the Electric cars with some drivers trying to convince others that even with the same car have even 30% more distance etc. On the other hand there are drivers (with 1400-1600cc) which admit in public of in auto-forum that their car has high FC in City and of course all with 1800-2000cc don't say anything. I remember a friend of mine with 30+ experience in every day driving (his own modified cars or company ones) wrote to me: "most 1.6 in the city with heavy traffic exceed 14 litres (checked with Primera, Focus, Renault). A Skoda Fabia brand new 1.2 company car that I had in 2008-2010 mixed route with 150 km per day of which 20-30 in heavy traffic was NEVER under 9 litres for any reason. If I get a move from (mention a Mountain Route to Athens) leave it....he wrote something desperate 11 litres...on the gas pump station... i.e. even the one... which was "modern" and a three-cylinder with a knowledge of the consumption, if it worked as a taxi (meant hard City traffic) in Athens... the 13 would have had it for sure."

Felicia fuel tank capacity and TC-6 measurements
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanUpdate: About the TC-6 measurements. As i have mention in the past the TC-6 screen has Current with L/h symbol, Average with the Ø symbol ant Total with the Σ symbol, in the Current function above the 32 Km/h speed the symbol disappears and shows the fuel consumption but in a fraction of a second this can change, when you release the gas pedal the fuel consumption starts dropping and then you take a photo and make a (fake actually) comment that your Felicia has a very low fuel consumption, is very economical etc. Here are two examples, in Highway and Mountain Route. Someone who has not a TC-6 or does not know how works can be deceived from these photos but take a look closely, there is No symbol in the LCD screen ! Yes shows a low fuel consumption but this apply only to the specific time that the photo was taken. Another trick: you are in the Highway, the FC indeed is Low for example let's say 6 ltr/ 100Km, you enter in the City and get stuck in traffic, the FC starts rising and when reaches 9 ltr you take a picture claiming that you car in City traffic has that FC so it's very economical etc. The point is that this measurement will change soon and after some minutes you can't post the same plus the Odometer will discover your lie, you can not have that 9 ltr FC after few kilometres inside the City. So we must be very suspicious for possible ''magic numbers'' in fuel consumption that can we read in the internet even when these comments accompanied by photographs. 😎

Skoda Felicia Insurance (cost-coverages) in 2024
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanSo every insurance contract may differ from another, there are so many parameters. Even the same car from area to area can have a different insurance status. Correct, that's why we don't trust new companies (we call them ''Comets" here) and prefer well-known, now there are reviews posted in forums-Google etc so you can have an idea before you sign anything.

Skoda Felicia Insurance (cost-coverages) in 2024
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThe law here is: Driving a vehicle without insurance entails the imposition of the following administrative penalties: Removal of license plates, Driver's License and Registration for 6 months Fine €500 for cars and €250 for motorcycles. Causing an accident by a vehicle without the above-mentioned special sign, results in the removal of plates and the license for 2 years. According to the Law: In car insurance, only civil liability towards third parties and civil liability for damages are mandatory – that is, the 2 coverages that enable the insurance company to compensate third parties or damage to objects, in the event of your own accident. Some choose this only (drivers with Carburetor cars or Elders which they don't use their cars except some occasions per year) or because they are ''cheapy guys" (as we call them), according to their comments: ''it's will not broke in the middle of the road, i don't need Road Assistance because i will find a friend to carry me, i drive slow so i don't need a Lawyer, i don't drive in very bad weather, it's an old car nobody is going to steal it" etc so they pay about 80-100 € per year buy keep in mind that in any bad circumstance they will have to pay later hundreds of euros and many of them regret for their initial decision. Same here buy this may have a ''trap", some cheap companies vanished one day without a warning and let their customers ''exposed'' so they lose their money and have to pay extra to find another company, some say that their representative is in GR but headquarters are in Bahamas or Romania or Majorca etc and only a naive will trust such a company.

Skoda Felicia Insurance (cost-coverages) in 2024
In Greece you can make a 1 month, 3 month, 6 month or 1 year insurance for your car, some years back you could only for 6 months or 1 year but now things are more ''flexible''. Old cars have some ''issues'' with the insurance companies because their actual value is too low and i case of ''stolen vehicle case'' you won't get as a compensation lot of money (plus you lose all the money that you have spend for upgrades, accessories etc) and it's hard to find Original Skoda parts. Here is the list from the covarages that i have , the cost and the exemptions (in euro € ) Civil liability bodily injuries of third parties: 1.300.000 € Civil liability for material damages of third parties per incident: 1.300.000 € Extended civil liability for liquid spills, bodily injuries: 12.000 € Extension of civil liability for liquid leakage, material damage: 8.000 € Personal driver accident: 5.000 € Fire insurance: 2.000 € Total theft (stolen vehicle): 2.000 € Partial theft (parts stolen): 2.000 € (exemption 200 €) Damages from a thief: 3.000 € (exemption 200 €) Audio system: 400 € (exemption 200 €) Locks damages: 400 € (exemption 200 €) Fire from terrorist action: 2.000 € Fires from strikes-demonstrations (vandalism): 2.000 € (exemption 300 €) Material damage from the spread of fire: 10.000 € Material damage from an uninsured vehicle: 6.000 € Retention of bonus malus: Apply Broken glass (windows, windshields etc): 1.000 € (exemption 150 €) Legal advice: 600 € Legal protection (Lower in court): 3.000 € Vehicle replacement (as long as the other one is under repair): 600 € Record theft (documents of the car): 200 € Natural damages (hail, floods, etc.): 2.000 € (exemption 300 €) Accident care (insurance agent comes to the place of accident for report etc): Apply Roadside assistance: Apply Material damage caused by an at-fault vehicle with foreign license plates: 6.500 € Discount (old customer): Apply For ALL these for 1 year insurance i paid 284 € (last year was 279 euro). I am interested to know, in other countries the Felicia owners what they pay? You have more or less coverages? Total cost? PS: there is another kind of insurance, the Mixed car insurance (or Own damage insurance) includes the repair by the insurance company of the material damage to your vehicle in the event of an accident, even if the driver is responsible for the accident. This is the most expensive insurance package and provides the widest range of coverage possible, usually is made by rich people for their expensive cars (lucury, supercars).

No, i compared a carburetor car with another carburetor, not mine, i never referred to MPI.

spark plugs are unevenly colored, advice please?
That trick is well know from 70's and still we use it in small carburetor motorcycles (which using 20W-50, an oil only for them and not for Felicia). Hint: In Yamaha the screw is in the opposite position than Honda.

D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanHow does a car's suspension affect the gas mileage? https://www.quora.com/How-does-a-cars-suspension-affect-the-gas-mileage Other drivers talk about it.- Koni Street rebuild.
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanHow Shock Absorbers Impact Fuel Efficiency: Improving Your Vehicle’s MPG https://medium.com/@AutoEspy/how-shock-absorbers-impact-fuel-efficiency-improving-your-vehicles-mpg-4b86d0e0f1f6 The impact of shock absorbers on fuel efficiency is a factor often overlooked by vehicle owners. However, understanding this link is essential for optimizing mileage and reducing fuel consumption. Here are two key aspects that highlight the connection between shock absorbers and fuel efficiency: Impact of Rough Road Surfaces: When driving on rough or uneven road surfaces, the energy absorbed by shock absorbers directly affects fuel consumption. Here’s how: Energy Dissipation and Suspension Oscillations: Rough roads generate excessive vertical movements in the suspension system, causing the vehicle to bounce and oscillate. Shock absorbers play a crucial role in dissipating the energy generated by these movements. Inadequate shock absorber performance leads to poor energy dissipation, resulting in prolonged suspension oscillations. This not only affects ride comfort but also increases fuel consumption as the vehicle struggles to maintain stability. Fuel Consumption on Rough Roads: On rough roads, vehicles with worn-out or ineffective shock absorbers experience reduced tire contact with the road surface. This leads to increased rolling resistance and tire slippage. The engine has to work harder to overcome these resistance forces, resulting in higher fuel consumption. Furthermore, the vibrations caused by inadequate shock absorption can affect engine efficiency and increase fuel consumption. Vibration and Suspension Efficiency: Shock absorbers also play a crucial role in reducing vibration and optimizing suspension efficiency, both of which have an impact on fuel efficiency: Vibration Damping and Tire Grip: Efficient shock absorbers dampen vibrations transmitted through the suspension system. Excessive vibrations can cause the tires to lose grip on the road, leading to reduced traction. When traction is compromised, the vehicle’s stability is affected, and the driver may need to compensate by applying more throttle or braking inputs. This results in increased fuel consumption. Effects of Excessive Vibration on Fuel Efficiency: Excessive suspension vibration not only affects tire grip but also causes discomfort and fatigue to vehicle occupants. Aggressive vibrations can lead to a harsh and uncomfortable ride, forcing the driver to make sudden adjustments to maintain control. These sudden adjustments, such as aggressive braking or acceleration inputs, can significantly increase fuel consumption. - Koni Street rebuild.
