  1. We see this a lot and the radar sensor with internal water damage. What is the VIN?
  2. That has happened in the past, VAG have often had to pay out for damaged clothing and personal injury.
  3. What is the VIN, is it on the Digital Service System?
  4. Interesting, what is the VIN?
  5. It depends on the system and make of calipers, the TRW ones operated by a separate ECU are wind and push, the ATE make operated by the ABS ECU are push back, wind these pistons back and you kill the caliper, they just push back like the fronts. I am waiting to have a laugh when someone on here tries to do the rears on Octavia type NX (I refuse to call it Octavia 4...)
  6. Are you sure the DPF has not been rogered out?
  7. If the factory immobilser is activated the engine will start and cut as it did on the two cars I programmed in two new ECU's for yesterday. Not had a faulty ECU in a year then two in one day!
  8. I use MIG stainless wire and BOC Argoshield, the welds require a lot of finishing though. The system is low grade stainless.
  9. I can’t see cleaning the charge cooler helping, the only time we clean them is when the turbo fills them with oil.
  10. If the immobiliser is activated, the engine will start and immediately cut and there would be a dash warning, more likely a FUBAR battery.
  11. They tend to be called an iLok and you can buy them as weld or clamp in but from memory the CAYC downpipe won’t allow a clamp in type.so we would stainless steel weld in a new one. Again from memory, you would need a 200x51 and we buy them from Exhaust Parts UK.
  12. In the Self Study Program for the EA211 Evo (1.5 ACT) it states the timing belt is fitted for life and in the Digital Service System whatever the data you input for age and miles upto 20 years and 200K it never states to even check the belt never mind replace it. Also replacing an EA211 Evo belt can mean the 007 timing equipment is required and this is roughly £3000. I have to admit though, with these new belt intervals I feel a bit like frying pan into fire, who wants to be the Guinea Pig? I know of a four year old sub 50K mile Tiguan 2L TDI where the belt failed because the pulley adjustment setting screw fell out and I have seen this on an A4 plus I know of others.
  13. I have a person I am trying to help with a 4.5 year old Tiguan with sub 50k on it where the cam belt was destroyed by a stupid little M6 screw into the cam pulley which fell out and VW won't help him past contributing £4k to the £10K plus bill for a new engine.
  14. Ohh I often give longer answers than that! I would interpret it means both are satisfactory.
  15. You have done all I would do and get G 052 145 S2 (1 litre) from PL24. Putting that into Tec Doc lists Febi 32590 API GL3 SAE 75W-90 / API GL3 SAE 85W-90 / API GL-4 / API GL-5 / Castrol MTF 97309 / Ford WSD-M2C200-C / MTF 0063 / SAE 75W-90 (GL-5) / Subaru Extra MT / Subaru Gear Oil Extra MT / VW 501 50 or Febi 48785 API GL-5 / API GL5 SAE 75W-85 / BMW G2 / BMW Hypoid Axle Oil G1 / FIAT 9.55550-DA3 / MB 235.7 / MB 235.74 / MB 239.71 / MB 239.72 / ZF TE-ML 18 and directly into the Bilstein Group Web Shop list the same.
  16. That's optimistic on an A3 type 8P.
  17. Common right across the VAG range where there is a rear wiper; Valeo the new Prince of darkness. It doesn’t happen on the Octavia 1U though as these have a sensible separate jet. The one fitted to the second generation A3 (type 8P) is an absolute joke, I am genuinely amazed if I notice one is working and think “it must be new”.
  18. I was looking into this on a 2017 A4 yesterday and found 0.07mm runout on the right rear disc... new Brembo ones!
  19. Not fused, powered and circuit protected by the BCM.
  20. I couldn’t do one on the deck anymore, it would finish me off.
  21. It would be a lot more than £1k from anyone done correctly as you must not reface VAG Diesel cylinder heads and these heads are known for internal cracking. We use new AMC castings and the job comes out at around £3k. Geoff’s car says to me oil cooler anyway as Pete said.
  22. Ignore what the dash gauge says, it is programmed to read 90 at a real 77 and still read 90 at 117 so it’s readings are not to be followed.
