  1. Nice spot, though it looks like there is still some camouflage on the front bumper?
  2. 17’s fit, nothing under that.
  3. 2018 with 37055 miles, cost £780 with everything (water pump / thermostat / union / seal /screw and coolant).
  4. Same here with the water pump, just had it changed together with the thermostat whilst they were in there, as my thoughts were if I get one changed the other is likely to go!! These were done at dealership and as I mentioned it was a common fault on this engine how about a contribution though I am well out of warranty. Skoda gave me 30% towards the job which I am more than happy about. So its been an expensive month with 2 front DCC shock absorbers replaced (though I am having the old ones rebuilt by Nagenast in Poland) and now the water pump and thermostat.
  5. Sorry to jump in here, but what sparks plugs are you guys using on 280 vehicles, any recommendations, make/number?
  6. Is this the S3 / RS3 part from Whiteline?
  7. Sounds like the bowden cables in the window regulator have snapped. Had the same thing happen on my wife’s beetle recently, not a complicated job to fix but fiddly and the parts were quite expensive. With no tension, the window started to drop slightly when driving about, so had to tape up until repaired.
  8. Hi Andy, for MOT’s I’ve used Macclesfield MOT centre, but not been too fussed who I used in the past as unless they are going to check the car first, the MOT test is regulated in what they do. For Indy servicing, I use Links on Fence Ave, in Macclesfield. These guys are all VAG main dealer mechanics and have been great for Haldex service and shock replacement. Do check the price with them as they are only marginally cheaper than Mitchell Skoda, but much more convenient for me.
  9. Sorry to be so thick, but I am not quite understanding this. The jacking points for changing a wheel are on the reinforced part of the crimped seam on the sill? The other points with covers that are further inboard and on the ‘chassis’ are for jacking the car on a 4 post lift and for these you need the rubber pads, is that correct? These can also be used for axle stands when working under the car?
  10. Have a look at Steinbauer tuning, this is a plug and play adaptation and should give you the figures you are looking for.
  11. Waiting to come off the ferry in Portsmouth after 1800 miles driven in Spain over 3 weeks. Car performed faultlessly and averaged 39.8 mpg, fuel prices in Spain similar to UK, (pump prices are discounted by Euro 0.25/ltr) so not too painful. Now will need a wash and vacuum!
  12. I have just re-read the manual and noticed that it says these, (not this0, functions can be deactivated simultaneously in the infotainment menu, so I guess that means if i deactivated the interior monitor that will also deactivate the anti-towing alarm. So, if you see me pushing a car off the ferry in Santander with a flat battery, I have misunderstood the wording !!
  13. Sorry, late to the party on this, but we will be taking the car on a ferry. How do you disable the ‘anti-towing’ alarm? There is no button on the B pillar, so I realise it’s through the infotainment….interior monitor tick or untick, OK, but it looks like there is anti-towing as a separate item on page 59 of the manual and I can’t see how to disable this? Thanks in advance.
  14. That’s what I thought, as you say no harm in trying. Is it better to go via the dealer or directly to Skoda UK?
  15. That is what I thought, misting, but how long do you leave before it becomes leaking. Quoted £1100 from an Indy using original parts, bugger!
  16. So that was a bit of a surprise! Checking the car before a trip to Spain and astonished to find the front shocks are leaking. I wasn’t really expecting that on a car 4 years old with 30000 miles, of what I would say fairly unstressed driving. Car has some warranty left, bought in 2021 from a franchised dealer, any chance of a goodwill payment from Skoda, do you think?
  17. I had a similar problem on the left rear door, intermittent lacking and then a total failure. I could only lock the door with the child lock in the door shut. You could hear it trying to latch when going over 10 mph, but failing to do so. Replaced under warranty, so i can’t advise part numbers.
  18. Had a look at the forum, but can;t see. What is the correct load and speed rating for 235/45/18 fitted to a 280 estate? Think 98W?
  19. I have the larger touchscreen and it’s a definite step down from the previous system with buttons. It’s not intuitive and you have to look i.e take eyes from the road to make any changes. I wish I didn’t have it!! I see that the latest models have buttons, so that must tell you something.
  20. I have the combi/estate version and the auto tailgate closure is a real hazard! It is so powerful it is really difficult to stop if you accidentally close by wiggling you foot under the bumper when loading. I am surprised there hasn’t been more complaints about it, it was mentioned as a particular hazard on Autogefuhl when they reviewed the car.
  21. Hi, welcome to the forum, Yes, that is the factory fitted tow bar, there is a video in the Skoda Superb Guides on this forum. Pull the lever in the boot up and the tow bar drops down. You need to manually move it into the locked position and again retraction is the reverse operation of pulling the lever up which releases the lock and you manually push it up into the rear bumper. The green light will light up when it is locked (either in the stored or towing position) if the red light flashes it means that the tow bar in NOT locked.
  22. Did you ever install the remote rear set release, or have I missed the update?
  23. Yes, much quieter, by a big margin. But, the caveat is I am comparing going from winters to summer tyres. These Riken tyres are really quiet, I hadn’t heard of them before and I am one for branded tyres, but would be interested to hear any other opinions abut this make of tyre?
  24. I’ve just dropped from Trinity 19’s to Zenith 18’s and found the ride comfort much better. I found a bargain set of 4 genuine Zeniths on facebook for £250, with tyres, (chap had up-graded to 19” Vega’s) but this Riken brand, apparently made my Michelin in the EU, will need to be replaced fairly soon. The difference in price between the 19 and 18 tyre wasn’t as much as I expected £162 against £130 (ish). I’m glad I changed as there is a noticeable difference in ride quality, but I have running winter tyres (on 17’s) until a few weeks ago, so these do seem quiet in comparison!
