  1. Sorry you haven’t solved this, but if nobody is able to help, what could they do? For instance, my car is a 2018 reg, with Amundsen unit, and a plug and play rear view/reverse camera, ie I have no experience of the problem you are having. That’s why I for one haven’t offered help. And judging by the amount of help I have received from members on this forum about other matters (including my reverse camera!!) I think it’s just a case of literally that nobody knows the answer. Would you have preferred it if everyone had replied with “sorry, I don’t know the answer, but hope you get it sorted”? If so, I’ll say it. “sorry, I don’t know the answer, but hope you get it sorted”
  2. Thanks! I’d not seen the Velcro on the bottom edge. Looks like I’ll have to turn the boot liner over...
  3. +1 for 3M VHB, I’ve used the clear version to hold my dashcam to the screen.
  4. As title, really, the main bit is to give a separate storage cubby, but what does the bit I’ve removed do? (Car is 18 reg hatch, and doesn’t seem to have variable loading floor) Thanks
  5. Which I find frustrating, as I would have liked a ‘total ownership’ record, sad, maybe.
  6. I would have thought that if you have to remove the glovebox to access fuses, that it would be in the handbook/manual. It definitely is for the Octy III.
  7. Maybe a slight tangent, but hopefully germane, renewing online at/for age 70 means you will lose groups C1, ie vans/camper/towing more than 3500 Kgs MAM, and also D1, minibuses with >8 seats. To keep these you must apply by post, with medical evidence.
  8. I agree, use the camera along with the mirrors, but my (AliExpress) aftermarket jobbie has distance and direction markings. I spent a few minutes checking after I’d first installed it, which means that I can judge distance very accurately.
  9. I’m a recent convert to Eco, and now tend to use it most of the time. Having to reset to get it to coast, even though it stays in Eco after a restart is a pain, though.
  10. Many thanks, that explains it! (I’ve also found that by pressing the Mode button 5 times it scrolls back to Eco, so I don’t have to select Eco from the screen. A good short cut imo)
  11. I’ve recently noticed that my 1.4 tsi only allows coasting if I have selected Eco since starting the engine. If the car’s been left in Eco mode and restarted, it won’t ‘coast’ just shows consumption as a line of - - - when I lift off, as if it’s in normal mode.
  12. Stop/Start system. I was aware that the engine could be restarted by turning the steering wheel, but today I noticed that when sitting in stationary traffic, if/when the car in front moved off, my motor restarted.
  13. Search for Weyland’s excellent thread on adding a reversing camera to a mk3 Octavia. Camera from AliExpress. My 18-reg SE L has Amundsen screen etc, and it works fine. 3-4 hours work, some fiddly, but basically straightforward. No re-coding needed.
  14. It’s good to see relatively new member OP coming back to report an outcome, let alone showing gratitude for the help given. So often nothing is heard. Hope you get it sorted, AJJD. 🤞🤞
  15. Sorry, I didn’t have my stopwatch, and I thought it was 3 times, but obviously not.
  16. Not trying to make a political point here, but on the BBC 10 o’clock news last night they ran the vid of Keir Starmer calling for Johnson and Sunak’s resignations 3 times in the first few minutes. to answer the OP’s question, mainly ITV news now, but missed it last night, hence BBC.
  17. Not owned by me, but the thread title is about past cars, and this is deffo a past car! The band was ‘Dave KC and the X-Rays’ (I’m the blond one - the drummer) car is a 1911 Daimler, owned by the dad of one of the guitarists, pic taken 1963/64-ish
  18. My first car, a 1937 Morris 8 Tourer, and my Norton Model 50, the latter my first ‘proper’ motorbike, bought the day after I passed my bike test (on a Lambretta) at 16 yrs old in 1963.
  19. I’ve never agreed with a post more! It seems though that Lee McKenzie is in demand for other sports and tv channels as well, so possibly doesn’t want to (or can’t) commit to 23 weeks all over the globe.
  20. I agree, frustrating, isn’t it. You would think that if DVLA have been properly advised that the vehicle has been scrapped, the number could be reissued. I suppose one problem is with the thousands of ‘rare barn finds’ that appear regularly, that have never been SORNed or officially scrapped, and which still show the original plate. Also cars that disappeared before DVLA had computerised records. Simply to have a complete embargo then starts to make a bit of sense - from DVLA’s viewpoint anyway.
  21. Out of curiosity some months ago I requested a ‘webuyanycar’ valuation for my Octavia, which was £1800 above what I’d paid for it, and since then they have been telling me of new, upward valuations. (I have no intention of selling it, btw) But a couple of days ago they emailed me to say I should accept the latest, as prices would be going down, and that their next valuation would be lower. A ruse to get me to sell, or an honest appraisal of the market? Answers on a postcard, please.
  22. Thanks, Hansen, do you have a link or web address please?
  23. Wonder if they do them for Nissan Note, Mrs B caught the wing mirror on a pebbledash wall, broke the LED, £51 for the replacement bit from Nissan!
  24. I’ve used Megs’ Endurance for years, but just discovered AG spray-on stuff, which is so much less messy to apply. I don’t think it’s as durable as the Megs, though.
