  1. SII 225/40-18, 2.6 bar front, 3.0 bar rear. Even tyrewear.
  2. Get an angled USB lead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coiled-Micro-usb-male-90-degree-left-angle-usb-male-left-angle-sync-charge-cable-/232000664611
  3. I have standard 18" Sirius on an S II estate and change to 16" winter tyres regularly. The ride is more comfortable because there is more rubber cushioning, but because most 16" wheels have a fairly large ET the wheels sit much more within the wheel arch and that is where the 18" look better. If ET was 10mm less on a 16" the look could compete with the 18" wheels.
  4. Does anyone know if and how the wash water jet can be adjusted on a Superb II estate? Mine is set to straight up the screen and I would like to jet more to one side and also lower down. In this weather I get lots of central runners and smeary patches on the opposite side to resting position.
  5. Question for the oil experts. I have got 2 cars that come out of the 3 year warranty this year and I will go back to doing the oil changes myself. The cars are a SII 2L TDI 170 and a Nissan Note 1.5 DCI. The VW recommendation for the SII is essentially an ACEA C3 oil and the Nissan / Renault recommendation is an ACEA C4 oil. Now technically a C4 contains a little less ash and sulphur, so muck that could potentially cause more residues. And again technically the C4 is superior to C3, but ACEA C4 is not part of VW's recomendation. I know these recommendations are a little like praying to right or wrong goddesses ... and I do not want that many different openened oil canisters knocking around in the garage. I have enough for cars and bike and do not need more. So, does anyone have a WISE answer other than put in what they tell you please?
  6. Always the cheapest. Supermarket fuel does not come from dark back alley refineries but the same ones that supply the "Brands". I am not academic or racey enough to notice much of a the difference, but I have been jotting down the fuel consumption of all the family vehicle when I fill up. A rise in consumption - at least to me - has thrown up problem that could then be sorted quickly like a clogges up air filter or on old carbs a requirement for adjusting before the regular service interval. I have not noticed any more wear and tear in any car. Engines, turbos and DPFs get damaged by wrong oil or more likly too little oil and forgotten oil changes.
  7. After the comments on France and compulsory EA189 VW updates I searched for the german stance on this. The KBA has ordered VW to send out recalls. It has not made the software update compulsory ...... yet, but there seems to be talk about implications for their TÜV and type approval, but nothing decided yet. Customers' details who decline the update are required to be sent to the KBA by VAG. Some motoring organisations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (ADAC, ÖAMTC, TSC and car magazines) have run tests with cars before and after the update and have found a slight deterioration in consumption figures but no change in driveability - Amarok, Golf, A4 - but also an improvement in fuel consumption - VW Passat. So the jury is out. On the whole the EA189 WITH "defeat device" still seems cleaner and has lower true emissions / fuel consumption figures than some other honest manufacturers.
  8. I have not had this problem and had our SII for 17 months. The tyres all round have done 31000 miles. I always inflate my tyres 10 - 15% over recommended pressure fr normal driving and usually have 2.6 bar at the front and 3.0 bar in the rears.
  9. I flashed my Gateway with 7N0907530BG_1674.SGO and MKE / Driver Alert is now present in the MFD in separat Assistant submenu and activated.
  10. He would be more aerodynamically optimized with mudflaps.
  11. I put Ebay mudflaps on. The car is as dirty as before at the back from the spray on wet roads in winter and summer. There is less muck straight off the tyres on the sills though. Skoda is for pensioners, so mudflaps do not matter.....
  12. I downloaded 7N0907530AN_1642.SGO and 7N0907530BC_1663.SGO and did 2 flashes. The first with 7N0907530AN went through and left the gateway on the old SW 7N0907530AM rather than changing to AN. I still did not see MKE. I then used 7N0907530BC_1663 and that brought 19 up SW 7N0907530BB, but still not showing any MKE. I just had to recode the battery controller. No DTCs. I had to stop because the laptop battery was low. autoscan_20161207_1548_post flash 19 _E.txt autoscan_20161207_1632_post flash 19_2.txt
  13. We live in Leicestershire. I noticed that you flashed your gateway twice to 7N0907530BC and BG. Where did you get the files from? Do you still have copies of them?
  14. This is the last autoscan I did. autoscan_20160324_1903_PLA ok.txt
  15. I stumbled across the Driver Alert System - DAS. On our L&K I do not have the cup of symbol in the dashboard and no menue option either, but apparently it can be activated. Does anyone know what is needed to activate it? I know that Gateway 19 has to have ch 5 activated, but I read about a modification within 17 but cannot find much about it.
  16. As you have so many "Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent", " 004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent", "012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit", "011 - Open Circuit" faults, the fault is on the plus side to all these controllers (STG). When you fitted the battery did you dislodge or not tighten any connection? just retrace your steps.
  17. Can anyone with VCDS tell me, whether in BCM STG09 you can access the subsystems "wischer" and "RLS" on a Superb II? I wanted to adjust my headlight washers with VCP but the slave modules are not accessible (greyed out).
  18. rhandbber did you get your PLA fixed? I have attached the instructions I followed to fix mine. A guy put PLA into his car and he put the coding steps online. I took screen shots of his VCDS and he put remarks below each screen.
  19. - VAG are little liars - like most other manufacurers. - VAG engines are still quite fuel efficient and cleaner even than cars from non-lying manufacturers. - EU and post Brexit little england will never force the same compensation laws through any parliament as the US has.
  20. If the car came from a dealer, go back to the dealer. Otherwise you need VCP or VCDS and check a few settings. Our 2014 has PA II and it was not working until I changed / corrected some settings. Unfortunately the dealer was not much help here. Generally PA is quick as said above, but I still prefer the driver parking.
  21. Is the Columbus set to connect within the system menue?
  22. I was reading in the SIII section and one guy described that on the SII 2 rear fog lights were standard. Our FL with LEDs has definitely only got one active. Can a second rear fog light be coded to become active???
  23. With VCP you can change the brake servo assist. Our brakes are good and in tests the brake distance for a Superb from 60 - 0 MPH is 36m.
  24. This is not correct, at least not on our Superb. I have the switch on Auto and regularly when I use the windscreen jets the Xenon jets come on too.
