Octavia Mk4 1.5TSI 150 tyre pressures again
The fuel filler label only shows fully laden front and rear (and the space saver spare, fully laden), they seem to have dropped the lightly loaded pressures. What type of tyres do you have, (normally nowadays delivered with Eco summer tyres or sport Eco). These are very hard (and grip poorly) when temperatures are below about +9c. They are not designed to be used on cold days and will feel like driving on solid wheels. Easing the tyre pressures to about 2.3 bar will slightly help comfort, but you are going to need to change the tyres if you want more comfort (until weather warms up late March). You basically have 2 choices: buy a set of all season tyres (which use a softer compound) and can be used in UK all year, or buy a set of winter tyres and wheels. You swap the sets end Oct / early Nov and around Easter. Swapping them around each year means can even out tread so probably won’t need to buy any more tyres until 60k+ miles. The all season option is simpler but will be binning virtually new tyres (although might sell them for a bit), and will be replacing tyres at say 30-35k miles so more expensive over 50k miles. Winter tyres are better below about +7c (nearer +10c in wet, +4c in dry), are colder weather tyres, not snow tyres as some assume. Have a look at this video which shows difference. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/Michelin-Pilot-Sport-4S-vs-All-Season-4-vs-Michelin-X-Ice-Snow.htm

couple of questions
Double check tyre pressures, might be worth getting tracking (alignment) checked as might have hit a big pothole and knocked it out of true. Shouldn’t really be visible uneven wear at only 6k miles, but it would be sensible to swap them front-back, although you might want to wait a bit (but I don’t know how much wear you have) As a general rule, swapping around tyres to even out wear is sensible, but like @kenfowler3966 I just do it when swapping summer-winter

Karoq facelift unveiled November 2021
Links on this page to you tube of launch of the facelift Karoq in 3 days https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/models/karoq/the-new-skoda-karoq-is-being-unveiled-watch-the-digital-presentation/ No indication of when it will be available yet, if I had to guess then maybe production start April with deliveries starting later (although with current order backlog, it’s hard to guess). Might give more details in the launch.

Pirelli P7 no sidewall protection
You don’t need a vRS to spin wheels, done it in a 1 litre DSG pulling out of side turning in wet and cold. That’s why I no longer use summer tyres Nov-Mar as they go hard and not grippy, but they are great when temperature is warmer. The PS4 will also not grip well in wet below about +10c (as will all summer UHP tyres), and will be almost useless below +4c. (Which means they would be useless today as it’s cold outside)

2.0TDI Octy mk3 Winter Wheels on 1.5 TSI Octy mk4?
20mm larger diameter is not a lot, Winter tyres probably got 8mm tread when new, let’s say change them at 3mm. The 5mm tread wear difference is 10mm diameter difference. So half your diameter difference could be due to tread wear, not really worth selling them and buying an almost identical size for so little difference. You would need a very nerdy vehicle examiner to reject them. As for speedo error, could be 3%, but tyre tread wear will change it by 1.5% over time anyway. So close that unless you watch it like a hawk, you aren’t going to notice the difference.

Drivers door wont unlock
If you can hear the mechanism moving, then possibly it is loose and not engaging. Or is weak and not moving fully, could try a squirt of WD40 Otherwise as already suggested, you need a new latch mechanism, or the wire has broken (usually in rubber bit by door hinges). Roomster wiring seems to be weak by the door hinges, and wires often break. I had to have a new tailgate wiring loom on mine.

Fuel consumption digital display
There are 3 settings, from start, since fuelling, long term (which I think resets after 2000 miles) You need to get fuel consumption displayed using the right and left buttons and thumbwheel on right hand side, then press down the thumbwheel (and hold down) then scroll the thumbwheel. Holding and scrolling let’s you change between the sub-categories. There are some other things with sub-menus where you can change in similar way. Basically need to hold thumbwheel down to get these, if it is up (normal position) then scrolls through top level options and you won’t see the choice of sub-categories

Michelin or Goodyear - Summer Tyres
Yes the Michelin PS4 is a very good UHP (ultra high performance) sporty summer tyre. But it isn’t a tyre that will work well (and no performance summer tyres are designed for) cold rain, sleet, frost, slush, snow, or temperatures where salt is applied. The Goodyear is also a good tyre, but I am confused why you want sporty summer tyres in November, just as temperatures have fallen, and with possible snow showers on Saturday. If you want all year tyres then get all seasons.

Tyre cracks
Welcome to the world of modern summer tyre compounds. The best explanation I have been given, is that when all-season tyres were introduced (and most manufacturers only started making them about 3-6 years ago), the new ranges of summer tyres became more summer like (prefer hotter weather). Rumour has it they were optimised to give good performance at WLTP test temperature (which I think is around +23c), don’t know if this is true, but seems logical. This is why many summer tyres are now so poor in wet below +10c My car (now 3.5 years old) gets its tyres swapped to winter set in Nov-March, so the summer tyres sit in garage through the colder months. They have no sign of cracking, so it appears to be exposure to the cold (or frost) is a significant part of the cause. UV light is also generally considered a probable cause. Our second car (which only does about 4K miles per year) also suffered from cracking tyres. We changed to all seasons 3 years ago and have not had any cracking since. So it seems if you want to avoid cracking tyres, avoid summer tyres being on car in winter.

1st service, variable servicing, what to do?
Skoda is still advertising full wash and vacuum as part of the service, so don’t let dealer try the covid era stunt of can’t vacuum it (if they can drive it into workshop, then driving it to cleaning bay is no more risky) If you have done nearly 11k miles, consider getting tyres swapped front back to even out wear (especially if it lease, as much cheaper than buying 2 new tyres). Of course if you have emergency spare wheel, can jack them up yourself one by one in sequence and do job in under an hour for free.

Trip to france
I got one 2-3 years ago from the French Govt website Arrived within a week, (I was expecting nearer 3 weeks) We were staying just outside Paris, and needed to cross through it, so decided safer to get one, it’s still on windscreen, but not been back to France since, but kept it in case we return.

Delivery times?
Any executive is happy when they can sell everything easily Don’t have to offer discounts, and can put price up Therefore more profitable, and bigger bonuses for bosses Unfortunately it’s obvious to anyone with a knowledge of business economics that consumer is unlikely to see any bargains for next 2-3 years, and demand will generally exceed supply. To some extent, Skoda would probably like those who ordered earlier this year to cancel their order, can then sell same car to someone else for a higher price. But would not look good to actually say this as would attract negative PR

Karoq facelift unveiled November 2021
The first official images of the Karoq facelift are now unveiled ahead of the full digital launch 30th November 2021 A more striking front with a new, wider, hexagonal radiator grille, reworked LED headlights and lots of new technologies. These are the key innovations to be found in the modernised KAROQ, which will be unveiled in a digital premiere on November 30. The sketches give a glimpse of the design changes, especially for the headlights. The front lights are now slimmer and extend as far as the radiator grille. The new line of the daytime lights is now divided into two parts. Beneath it there is a second module for the fog lights or – in the top-of-the-range model – a separate LED module. This lights layout gives the car the characteristic “four-eyes” look. The rear lights have kept ŠKODA’s hallmark C-shape design, but they too are more slender and accent the car’s width. Another new feature is the extended rear spoiler and redesigned bumper with a black diffusor. https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/models/karoq/first-sketches-of-the-new-skoda-karoq/

Trip to france
In some parts of France it is now compulsory to have winter tyres from 1st November to 31st March. I think this is first year it applies. It covers 48 of the 96 mainland Departments. The Pyrenees-Atlantic (where Biarritz is), is a winter tyre area Of course, not a great idea to drive on summer tyres in UK November-March either, but winter rated tyres are not mandatory in UK

Keys not working
If the unpaired them, without asking you, they effectively took a car in with 3 working keys, and returned it with one working key. I would expect them to sort it, free of charge, because it is something they have chosen to do. First step is to phone service department and find out what they have done (and don’t accept being fobbed off by a receptionist who doesn’t want to look at job sheet)

Superb Mk3 2.0 TSI 220hp tuning
Depending on what level of tune (and I assume you mean a remap) 10-25% However you are going to need seasonal tyres, as you would spin the wheels on a cold wet day, trying to start on summer tyres.

Skoda Superb Estate - Advice Required
@David79 Not sure of the age of the cars you are looking at, but over the last few years more and more emissions stuff has been added, euro6 has gone through some temporary easement steps over few years to allow the extra equipment to be developed. This has made the diesel very complicated (and too early to access long term reliability), however what is blatantly known is that if they cannot get to full working temperature and complete a DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration at frequent intervals, then they clog up with ash, and once they clog to a certain point, it becomes painful and expensive to get cleaned. Therefore avoid the diesel unless about every tenth journey takes at least 45 minutes, if you mainly do local journeys with just occasional long journeys do NOT buy the diesel. Modern tsi petrol engines are very responsive, and surprisingly good, and quite economical. (Don’t get too blinded by official mpg figures, they are done at 20+c with a warmed engine. Remember a cold diesel or one doing a DPF regen will use more fuel than the petrol, the diesel only gives better mpg once it is warmed through (so not for first 20-30 minutes depending on air temperature) You could be a bit creative, the same engines are used in Seat and VW, so could test drive one of those instead if wanting to check engine.

Skoda Service and WArranty offer worth it?
It’s a bit of a mix of failure insurance and maintenance £25.58 per month for 24 months Not bad, but do read terms and conditions especially if you intend to change car in next 2 years. Also got to remember that it doesn’t cover everything (tyres, irregular service items, parts that may have worn like brake pads).

Hello skoda octavi 4 Coding List and Adaption
Is it just me, or is anyone else suspicious when a relatively new member suddenly finds a solution that is a website based in another country and at first glance seems to offer something for nothing. Almost feels to me they are involved with the promotion of it, or being paid to get sales. But maybe I am just wary.
