  1. I've just got my Google Pixel 4a phone back from having its battery replaced during which it was factory reset and restored from backup. Now Android Auto no longer works, I get the message "Check the setting on the mobile device and the connection." on the car screen when I connect the phone. I have already set "Start Android Auto automatically" to "Always" and "Use USB for" to "File transfer/Android Auto". I guess there's another setting that I need to change, any ideas?
  2. I've had similar with one odd tyre fitted, repeated resets eventually stopped the false warnings.
  3. Good luck, in my case, the impact of the pheasant ejected the grille! You might be able to push the grille out from behind with less risk of it breaking. Don't waste your money on aftermarket grilles, very poor fit and flaky chrome.
  4. The black honeycomb pattern grille pulls out leaving the light behind and revealing the screws. There should be a wire tool with a hook on the end in the boot for this purpose.
  5. You have to get the grille off, the foglight is held by four screws screwed in from the front.
  6. Have a look here, foglight: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/SUP/851/9/941/941041 bumper: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/SUP/851/8/807/807010 wheel arch liner: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/SUP/851/8/821/821015 Looks like you have to pull the grille off which will reveal four screws holding the foglight.
  7. You have misassembled the wire spring - it should go the other side of the ledge on the carrier bracket, as shown below. No need to ask me how I know!
  8. I had similar problems with my wife's Peugeot - it was returned from a garage with poorly fitted wheel trims. There's a stiff wire hoop clipped to the back of the plastic trim and they'd managed to get one or two of the clips outside the hoop instead of inside.
  9. I've had the same after having to change one tyre while the rest are part worn. Keep doing the resets, eventually it will sort itself out.
  10. Auto-dipping and xenons were definitely not standard on SE Business spec but it might have been added by the first owner and there were a few early cars with some bonus features included. Do you have the triangular camera aperture on the windscreen?
  11. Another thing to check would be the speedo readings against a GPS device - I find the both analogue and digital speedos read a consistent 3 mph higher than the GPS speed in Waze. Perhaps the digital display is reading high!
  12. That would affect both the analogue and digital speedo though. My first thought is that the analogue needle is sticking sometimes.
  13. Those were the first warnings I got when the battery was failing but then the warnings were only at start up.
  14. It looks like the silver part in your second picture has notches for a tool to engage with. You could make something to fit by grinding the end of a suitable sized socket.
  15. All the time or at a particular load/speed condition?
  16. A new battery will almost certainly fix all those errors
  17. I wouldn't be so sure, have a read of this https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=&t=2078589
  18. This is correct. However, the buttons must have the same functions and you can't swap the buttons from a standard wheel to a wheel with paddles.
  19. That's right, but only if you already have paddles. Buttons from a non-paddle steering wheel don't have the extra connectors needed for the paddles.
  20. Don't think the Octavia wheel is compatible - the buttons are different.
  21. Nothing out the ordinary if you're only cleaning up and greasing the pins, no need to retract the electric park brake unless you're replacing the pads. Check the condition of the discs, especially the inside; these love to go rusty and could well be the cause of your noises.
  22. It's OK to turn the ignition off, the car remembers that the park brake is open and needs to be reset. You'll get a warning when you switch back on. Don't reset the park brake until the brakes are fully reassembled.
  23. Very unlikely that hitting a pothole would damage the brakes on both sides but not the wheels, tyres or suspension. I think you've been lucky in a way to have the brake faults brought to your attention.
  24. Like my car, this thread has gone way further than I expected 🤣 Can anyone provide any concrete examples of injection system damage due to running out of diesel?
  25. Had to make an unplanned journey yesterday starting with a nearly empty tank. Result was driving about 6 miles with zero range and a 66.5 litre fill up. What's the furthest anyone's driven once the predicted range has dropped to zero?
