  1. No, as I said in my 1st post, I normally run my 16s at those pressures.
  2. You appear to have transposed front and rear tyre pressures - rear pressure is normally a little higher than fronts. EG. left hand column is for front pressures.
  3. 'Normal' modern tyres are actually low profile - just not as extreme as some of the very low profiles around. A general recommendation is to run 'Winter' tyres about 0.2 bar higher than 'Summer' ones. I run my rear 16s on the Octavia at between 2.6 to 2.8 bar with no undue harshness.
  4. You say it has had a recent 'full service' was the air filter replaced then?
  5. I'd suggest asking the mechanic at the 2nd garage you took it to, but any reputable diesel service workshop should be able to supply this service. Black exhaust smoke aside, are you able to gauge performance of the engine power under load, does the turbo appear to be supplying boost?
  6. Hello, welcome to the forum. Your second mechanic is possibly right, black smoke from a diesel will be unburnt fuel. My first suggestion would be to have the injectors tested. Does the turbo appear to be working? - does your car appear to accelerate normally under high load? Why was the clutch replaced? Was the old one slipping under load?
  7. Ah, I wonder if the difference might be that SWMBOs Fabia is a manual? I assume your VR6 is DSG?
  8. Yeah, but it meant that you got all the sh1tty jobs too 😄
  9. Hi Mike, 12.2 volts is about 65% charged for EFB/AGM battery - but as NTA16 says, it depends on when the readings are taken. To be accurate, the voltage reading needs to be taken when it is certain that the various control modules have all entered sleep mode - this can take at least 15 to 30 minutes after locking the vehicle, ideally, the hood latch detection switch should also be bypassed, although I get reasonably reliable readings for both the Octavia and Fabia without doing this last thing for shutdown. You say your battery is 'older' are you able to see a date code stamp on the top of the negative terminal? The format is WW, YY.
  10. 'Power consumption too high' is a message displayed as a reason for stop/start being inhibited (there are around 6 to 10 reasons in total) - it usually means that the battery voltage is below a set threshold - which could simply be because the vehicle has been static for a long period or subjected to repeated short trips. Frequent display of the message can indicate a failing battery, or a charging issue.
  11. SWMBOs Fabia is keyless ignition, her start button requires just a press & immediate release of button to start - could it be that holding the button in, rather than releasing immediately is part of your issue?
  12. Correction to my post, press the 'Back' switch first - this will display a menu band, then use thumb wheel to scroll to 'Navigation' Press scroll wheel to select. Compass rose will display.
  13. Hello, welcome to the forum. If you have multi-function steering wheel, use the RH scroll wheel to show a different menu on the Maxi Dot display, then press to select.
  14. Something to check might be the EGR valve if your engine has one.
  15. Hello, welcome to the forum. That plug looks OK for colour (combustion) but as Alasdair says, the gap does look very wide - are you able to measure with gapping tool? Spark will be weaker when in chamber and under compression. Are you able to measure battery voltage? (with engine both stopped and cranking)
  16. OPs profile reads Morocco as location, so they may not care there. Too bad about the excess emissions though.
  17. It's a fault where the brake cylinders don't retract fully after release, resulting in excess drag. Easily tested by carefully checking for unusual amount of heat from wheel centres after a reasonably long drive.
  18. I'd suggest purchasing a OEM replacement pressure cap to see if that resolves the coolant losses.
  19. Your service unit is telling you complete nonsense, the cooling system is a sealed system - there should be no evaporation provided the pressure holds and there are no leaks! Have you tried replacing the pressure cap on the expansion tank?
  20. Try a search on the forums, I recall seeing a post referring to someone reporting repairs to Mechatronic units.
  21. It would be more accurate to say that they could not locate the coolant leak!
  22. Will that significantly affect the LED life?
  23. Engine code prefix is also printed with engine number on your V5 document.
  24. The first 3 or 4 characters of your engine number are the engine code - can also usually be found on drivers side B pillar label.
  25. There is clearly a fair bit of incorrect data out there! I've now found confirmation from 3 independent sites quoting Simplex chain.
