I'd suggest caution with leaving a dashcam on permanently - it can cause excessive battery drain by preventing control modules from entering sleep mode when vehicle is shut down.
  2. I stand to be corrected, but If you are uncomfortable with the 0w-20 508/509 oil spec, my understanding is that this new grade was introduced purely to achieve slightly lower emissions - and it is permissible to use the previous VW504/507 oil standard if wished.
  3. I know what I'd do for about £75 an hour minus expenses.
  4. A problem would be the cost of including a battery load tester into the vehicle equipment schedule - for a function that would only be relevant once every 3 to 9 years. Almost certainly would be much cheaper for owner to buy their own dedicated tester, or request a proper battery condition test every service.
  5. But I'd certainly query the rest of the advisories.
  6. OPs status gives Essex as location - so in UK. It does appear that the VIN plate is on a LHD vehicle, and one post is actually in German but if OP is in UK, towbar is permissible.
  7. I believe the VIN plate is the final deciding factor for whether vehicle can tow or not. In this case it definitely can. As OP is in UK, I'd suggest contact with a Forum member with VCDS for assistance with coding.
  8. If the towbar is not coded correctly into the vehicles system, stability assistance, rear lighting and any rear assistance devices will be affected - if you have rear collision avoidance, the vehicle will probably not allow you to reverse with the trailer attached.
  9. If your replacement battery chemistry is different to what was originally fitted, the new details should be entered (adapted/coded) into the vehicles BCM.
  10. Unusual that stop/start was still functioning with a failing battery, but great that replacement cured the bogus fault indications.
  11. Agree with you, but I strongly object to being dazzled by oncoming traffic with clearly illegal lighting - I've noticed that drivers with this sort of lighting setup are frequently late in dipping their main beams - presumably because of the drastic reduction in lighting when/if they finally do.
  12. Can I suggest random, false warnings.
  13. UK Highway Rule 236 states that fog lights MUST NOT be used unless visibility is severely restricted by fog (typically<100 Metres) If visibility is so restricted by fog to warrant use of fog lights, high beams would clearly blind the driver with back scatter.
  14. That is not what you wrote in your original post - if you are now saying that your fog lights illuminate while the main beams are lit, I believe your vehicle lighting setup is illegal in UK.
  15. Slightly elevated idle speed when engine is cold is quite normal, provided it drops closer to usual speed reasonably quickly. Excessive parasitic current drain isn't normal though - and should be investigated for cause.
  16. IIRC, it is illegal in the UK to use fog lights when fog is not present - if main beams are in use, conditions clearly do not qualify for use of fogs.
  17. AFAIK, TSI fuel filter is integral with the fuel pump, mounted on the tank - no 'fuel bowl'
  18. I'd seriously consider that everything they are quoting for is unnecessary - apart from the binding front brake.
  19. It seems that you are being given incorrect advice. The VIN plate you have posted indicates that your vehicle is actually permitted to tow a braked trailer weighing up to 2,200kg, provided the rear axle weight of the towing vehicle does not exceed 1,140kg.
  20. Although external dimensions might not be repeated internally, the Superb is both longer and wider than the Kodiaq, but the Kodiaq has a higher roofline.
  21. Hello, welcome to the forum. My first instinct would be for the Superb. Have you compared the two vehicle dimensions?
  22. I'd suggest it would be better to modify driving habit rather than disabling a feature that tells someone following that the vehicle ahead is slowing significantly! How about dialling in a little more anticipation and just 'feathering' the throttle pedal instead of backing-off completely? I realise it's not always possible to do this in todays driving conditions, but is frequently possible.
  23. Hello, welcome to the forum. Does your car have a towing weight marked on the vehicle loading plate? This plate is normally located on the off-side B pillar.
  24. That was very big and generous of them - caught out when trying it on 😡 Have they agreed that the actual issue with the front camera is covered in the warranty?
  25. I should have guessed that given the hourly rate charged.
