  1. I would suggest it may be the lower paragraph as he says there is no switch.
  2. You don't need GSM, there is actually no connector on the RNS unit for it, it's for when you don't have an RNS unit with built in bluetooth and you have a seperate bluetooth module, "some" of them have a GSM connection, but to be fair in the old days you needed it more, mobile phone coverage is so much more superior today, really not required anyway. The link you posted is for 2m, which is def not long enough, I personally think you need around 5m., approx 1/2m across roof from aerial, then 1.5m down and along the edge of the roof (above doors) then 1m down A pillar to behind dash, then 1.5m across up behind the dash etc with some to spare behind the radio. It always better to have to much. You def need this connector for the unit end , cannot remember if its male on the aerial, I think it is, so this would do I think (please check your connection plugs) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224930905545?hash=item345eed3dc9:g:Tz8AAOSwImRYKcON&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4FOypbHRRFYIFNhVYfEI%2BX07Vj%2Ff2kln9xdA2E0NruzKpwHhdq8uZce3X6hbFMrtMXOslqkcyO9qBy3JtpDdNqY%2Fhc6fVk8eezv5e9Al72o2y9WhN7yUd4V%2Fn83cf6KgIbq%2BpARZv8LCxjeEj6h3gOxvTQanorucxLiYcL9fk%2BbCtegUFm80NpaDvDpuISUPWPfGHbeV7qdNh4d%2FnDGQSGnhY09iQspLutSqklsCDPbw%2FQpDucP5L%2BogNCSnz9Vxt08pLrrrZjnO%2Fh4K5KLhYgCzCySneHEqT48sl6zHafIl|tkp%3ABFBM_pG6_qdg
  3. you can locate it in the passenger foot well behind the kick / sill panel, this is where I spliced in for my self dipping mirror, offcourse you could also follow the loom further to the back along the and into the boot area if that suits better. It is the black with blue trace wire which feeds the rear left reverse lamp.
  4. Do you "know" if this actually an option in VCDS on a Fabia 2 ? ..................Not something I have ever noticed.
  5. I would just buy a faster car in the first place...........
  6. yes you would need longer wires for "each" signal from the Antenna you want to add, so:- AM (should be there) FM (should be there) GSM (if applicable) GPS (if applicable) DAB (if applicable) Remember, NOT all RNS 315's have bluetooth and DAB, some can have either and OR both, you need to check the label to see the MAC address is populated (not just 0's) for bluetooth, and the DAB has a seperate connection on the back upper left.
  7. Mine will work through the steering wheel when using spotify, so I can only "assume" it would work with the built in media player on what ever phone you are using as well. Coding, ideally yes to get it set correctly, however when I first fitted my non DAB RNS 315, everything worked straight away, including park sensor display. An aftermarket DAB antenna can go anywhere really as long as it has an unobstructed view, I fitted the geuine shark fin roof antenna and just ran the cable down to the headunit.
  8. buy one here for not much, use then sell on again, even "if" you only got 50% of it's cost back, works out probably the same price as loaning and £25 is not much money. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183103754351?epid=27011066866&hash=item2aa1d5906f:g:nCIAAOSwNRRiWMzg
  9. Welcome to the forum, Do like the RS with the side protection strips.............been contemplating those for mine.
  10. if your asking whether your radio will dim at night (or to be more precise when the lights are switched on).............................. if you tap into a feed from any switch illumination, the asnwer is yes, all the radio needs to see is a feed from a light source / feed.
  11. Did you fit a genuine sensor or pattern part ?
  12. very surprised to see this to be honest. One thing you do expect is a manual box to last the life of a car, especially a premium brand.
  13. whos to say the old loom was correct......... ?? I cannot see any reason this behaviour should occur with a new loom, unless there is another repair incorrect eleswhere OR the loom / something else is wrong. Was the loom ordered via the vehicle chassis OR part number ? The drivers door control unit is the MASTER for windows and locks, that itself could be faulty casuing these faults.
  14. Well I try not to make a habit of posting incorrect info, especially when it's direct from the Skoda manual. The bolts are torque tightened, then further angle tightened, this normally indicates that they are stretch bolts, the manual clearly states replace them............down to the OP as to which way he goes. The corrosion coating will be a standard automotive Geomet finish used by pretty much all manufacturers
  15. they are stretch bolts and should be renewed if removed, would it really hurt to re-use them, don't think so, its not like they are headbolts etc, up to you really. if you want the numbers, its 1 x N90983002 2 x N10204808
  16. Plugs in underneath the brake reservoir / master cylinder (under the aluminium bit) it's the brake light switch plug
  17. I went for michelins, helped that halfords had an offer for 4........they look great and def ride better then the continentals that I did have. Anyway, good video here for three of the premium tyres, offcourse reviews are always subjective.
  18. having a different overall size / rolling circumference potentially will make a difference front to rear as already been explained, the ABS will see it.... Why not just buy 2 tyres in the correct size.??????.......................I don't understand the want to "try" something that might be a waste of money and turn out more expensive in the long run. I posted a link to tyres which are very cheap earlier in the thread. Thinking about it, would 185x60R15 be a better choice? What's the difference between the rolling diameter of these and the 195x55R15's? It's a smaller width but bigger proportion in the sidewall height so it may be quite similar in circumference. Not a lot, about 6 mm, or just over 1%................but my question would be again why ? there can't be much difference in cost between these 2 tyre sizes.
  19. the wires snap after the solder joints because the joint doesn't flex, so the weak point is just after it, especially in this location
  20. you can get 2 tyres in that size for less than £90, hundreds of them on Ebay for example....... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144489771550?hash=item21a442f21e:g:14cAAOSwrY5iTFks
  21. it needs to be the same shape. Your monte carlo is most likely a pre- face lift model, so will have a diff shape steering wheel / airbag. pretty sure your going to have to source an airbag from this age / type of steering wheel. I would assume your steering wheel looks like below..........
  22. that part number is correct, item 22. https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2007-608/4/407-407020/#22
  23. The window functions are ALL related / connected through the drivers door control unit, this is also the same for the central locking as the drivers door control is the master. "if" the rear passenger window operates normally through the switch on that door, then the problem lies with door wiring OR switch OR control unit at the drivers door.
  24. failed MOT because ?? will look like this https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/bm-catalysts-8170690.html
  25. If your 100% happy with door wiring...............then could be as simple as a sticking switch. You could do a process of elimination by disconnecting the switch on the door itself, if it still does it then the signal is def coming from the drivers door switch, so maybe time for a new one of those.
