Been 7 months and 12 days since I bought the Superb and just like my previous car from Skoda the Octavia Vrs245 it has been 100% reliable and build quality has been faultless with no rattles or untoward noises. Now passed 7,000 miles on the commute home and will be driving it 5 times next week starting on Wednesday as a colleague is flying to Kenya for 4 weeks to visit his family so my company asked me to cover days while a relief officer does my nights. Wife is happy on 2 counts.

Back in the Phantom Menace for my last night shift tonight after wife decided to visit our friend Emma in South Nottingham this afternoon and collected some garden produce on the way to work from my parents back garden. Used some country roads for a change and the big bus handles pretty well with loads of grip on the Michelin Pilot Sports. In the morning I filled the Karoq as it passed 403 miles and it used 40.09 litres due to wife having to do more short trips (home visits) which cost £42.86 and the tank average was 45.69mpg as the car passed 26,400 miles.

Bottas nicks Pole from Lewis, Max starting on Hard tyres but 1 second slower than the Mercs and best Ferrari 8th 1.5 seconds off the pace. Question is how long will Max stay out on those tyres?

I nearly bought an Emerald Green Scout Karoq for the wife last year to replace her Moon White SEL but it was such a good deal somebody else snapped it up before me. Retail was over £30,000 and it was £25,500 brand new in the showroom. Liked the colour of the seats with the green bodywork and the pano roof. Yours looks great in Red BTW.

John I have a special feature just for you to criticise in 3 days time because you like to count. To keep you entertained in the meantime a good watch is the 4th August 2020 episode of Harry's Garage featuring Gordon Murray revealing the secrets of his new T50 Supercar which demonstrates all the good stuff he has learned being a vehicle designer in F1 and performance road cars over 5 decades. The normally aspirated Cosworth V12 engine revs to 12,000rpm and produces 663PS which is plenty in something that weighs just 986kg because Gordon has always been fascinated by saving weight. The alloy wheels are just big enough to cover the brake discs (composite carbon) and calipers so 20" rears with 295mm wide Michelin tyres and 19" front alloys with modest 235mm tyres. Amusingly that is the same size front alloys that both my wife's Karoq SEL and my Superb 272 hatch share with the same 235mm tyre width. Gordon's supercar will be limited to £2.5 million plus taxes for the lucky few able to afford and enjoy them.

Should be from first registered. For example my Superb was registered at the end of March 2019 so the warranty runs to the end of March 2022 even though I bought it at 9 months old. Hope that helps.

Wonderful commute tonight must have to give it Triple Whammy Status because first the main road into our town about 400 metres from our house has been closed for the last couple of days leading to a lengthy diversion. That was step one and after 6 minutes driving I get held up for 5 minutes by the quarry train leaving the quarry at about 1mph. That is stage 2 and finally I get to the motorway sliproad and as I join the M1 southbound the radio/sat nav announces ACCIDENT on the M1 which becomes stage 3. When I stop I have been driving for 15 minutes and covered 8 miles so I'm still 19 miles from work. Various phone calls made whilst sat in the car without the engine running for 80 minutes due to the carnage ahead in 28C heat and I'm told on the radio (which I have to switch back on 3 times while I wait) that it is the hottest August day since 2003 (no **** Sherlock) and finally get to work 2hours 15 minutes after leaving my home for a normal 38 minute journey. Good thing I have plenty of patience-honestly I have despite the mini rant.

Well it's time for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT some have been waiting for with baited (no worms thank you) breath and the first thing your thinking is this is post 13,014 and the shyster is still typing. Well I still enjoy the First Word so will continue contributing on there with my buddies and since January 3rd 2020 this thread has attracted no less than 26,505 views so someone on here must enjoy reading our journey with the Superb Sportline and it's baby brother the Sportline Vega shod Karoq SEL to give it the new catchy title. So if the good folks lined up along way behind me in 3rd, 4th and 5th in the popularity league table (and they don't care about how many points they accrue apparently) may have to put up with me but only now on 2 tiny sections of Briskoda and the Boss Colin D can enjoy poking fun at my near 40mpg economy in the Black Magic Beast of the Midlands.

They should fit OK not sure whether the VRS Kodiaq is fitted with 235 or 245 tyres but they will be very heavy and make the ride quite harsh without DCC to help.

If you go on the Skoda UK configurator and put the model and engine/gearbox that you are interested in at the end it will explain what the delivery/VED costs are for that particular model. Now emissions based for the first year which can be quite high once you venture over 150gm/km co2. Wife's 1.5TSi manual Karoq is just 126gm/km co2 so it has been £145 VED for the first 2 years but will be going up to £150 next time.

Superb having a rest for the next week while I do the 3 nights in the Karoq now with more grip and it even managed 54.1mpg on tonight's commute which is excellent. It will need fuel by Sunday morning as just passed 300 miles on this tank. Just for JB who can't count 23 posts to go until decision time.

Steering is notably heavier but I always have it set to sport and more tyre noise on the motorway but ride not too bad considering how heavy the wheel and tyre combo is.235/40R19 on 8J rims.

Lewis said recently that he wants 3 more years in F1 (probably with Mercedes) but does he mean seasons 2021, 2022 and 2023?

No need whatsoever like @Redboy states the standard factory is fine unless you abuse it from too many/harsh standing starts. August 2017 bought a Vrs245 new then at 7,000 miles went stage 1 with 302bhp and 467nm and at 14,000 miles went stage 2 with 336bhp and 517nm which my manual car coped with fine until I sold it last December at 29,000 miles. Listen to people who have run and modified these cars (mine even did 2 track days for example).

Well they fit perfectly and with the low miles the wife does now they should last about 3 years.

My Superb alloys we’re collecting dust in the garage so first mod on our SEL Karoq has been to fit the 19” Vega alloys with Bridgestone S001 235/40R19 tyres. Might hurt economy a bit but will be a lot grippier. Well not too bad first commute tonight and still managed 54.1mpg for the 27 mile journey.

Keeping both Skoda’s in fact I spent a couple of hours removing the 18” Braga alloys from the Karoq and putting my 19” Vega alloys from the Superb and then cleaning the Braga’s before storing them in the garage.

Remember buying a new Mk2 Fabia 3 (top of the range in 2007) with the 1.4TDi engine and it did come with 80bhp alledgely. 70mpg was possible on my commute.

I had a Fabia courtesy car fitted with the 1.0TSi engine and I was impressed with both the performance and economy in the short time I borrowed it.

Correct so handy just pressing the autohold button and leaving the DSG in Drive on my Superb. No effort no fuss no stress. Simply Clever for a change like having 2 umbrellas instead of the 1 in the Octavia.

Needs a power upgrade. You would like it even more with 360bhp and 500+nm to launch it.
