Fabia MK1 6y2 window motor equivalent?
Many thanks. I new about the 9th digit but had suspicions. The ones on ebay all say fit polo passenger and skoda drivers etc but been caught out before. Was going to try and repair it myself as read relay and capacitor may be the problem but will give you a shout as you can test it in case its something else.

Fabia MK1 6y2 window motor equivalent?
Hi there, Have a fabia mk1 55 plate with front electric windows that don.t work anymore. Read up on line and reckon its the motor/control unit in the drivers door. Checked all wiring and fuses and they seems good. New door switch as well. Central locking works but nothing else. Part number is 6Y2959802 but difficult/impossible to find replacement. Have come accross 6Y1959802. Worked out how VW part numbers work (I think) so as its just the Engine/model number that is different can anyone confirm it would fit? Only other thing is the windows don't open and close when holding key in locking and unlocking mode in door so might be the comfort module but as the central locking still works not sure. Any help appreciated Alasdair

Skoda octavia 2008 instrument cluster removal without setting off imobiliser?
Hi there, My car Skoda octavia mk2 1.9tdi 2008(58plate) has developed weird instrument cluster light problems. Dpf light showing dim (just noticeable) on all the time. When head lights are switched on it shows bright as well as both foglight symbols lit even when foglights are off. The car is coming off the road for 10 days while I wait for an MOT (I discovered there is about a months waiting list her at the moment due to the MOT extensions re Covid) I don't thinkI have a DPF fitted anyway. Its a 1,9tdi BXE engine. I intend to check out the cluster and look for dry joints or any visible problems but I need to know if by removing it will I immobilize the car? Don't have vagcom to reset if I do. Is there a safe way to remove it? Many thanks Alasdair

coolant change/how to drain 1.9tdi
Hi there sorry for not replying sooner. Been doing full service on car including timing belt/water pump. Managed to drain most of coolant from rad etc and found the extra when I removed the water pump. Fisrt engine I have had that doesnt have a coolant drain plug in the block or I just couldn't find it. Cars put back together now and just topping up coolant so should be ok. Will keep an eye on coolant level for the next while just in case there is a hidden airlock that clears itself. Timing belt was pretty bad condition and a cheapo make as well. Cars got a full service history but thats only good if decent parts were fitted at service time,Now fitted with Gates belt kit with pump etc so should be good for a long while. Thanks for the reply Alasdair

coolant change/how to drain 1.9tdi
Hi there trying to change coolant on a 1.9tdi 2008 mk2 octavia. Have disconnected bottom rad hose and oil cooler hose but only got around 5 litres out. I had it in my head it took around 7 litres so question is am I missing something or where are the extra 2 litres? Is there a engine block drain or anything else i have missed I googled it and found reference to suplimentary heating system on the 1.9tdi bxe engine but can't find anything that looks like a drain or extra system. The coolant level was ok when I started so I assume there should be more to come out. Any help or advice welcome Alasdair

What fits skoda octavia 2008 crank pulley bolts Torx/spline??
Many thanks, Had a look online. Plenty spline sets but not many XZN. I take it theres a difference. The only makes I have found that I have heard of are a clarke set cht144 and a draper set iss8 for larger than m12 . Not sure what the quality is like but I reckon I wont be using them all the time. Many thanks Alasdair

What fits skoda octavia 2008 crank pulley bolts Torx/spline??
Managed to find the correct bolt part numbers. Many thanks to the forum but they are internal splined. Does anyone know what fits. Is it Torx or spline drive or soemthing else specific to Skoda ?. I Haven't come across this type before as fairly new to working on Skoda so will have to order a suitable set to do the work on the car. Sorry if this is a simple question but don't want to take the car apart and get stuck without the correct tools as I also need it daily. Thanks Alasdair

1.9tdi bxe crank pulley bolt part numbers
I tend not to deal with Skoda unless necessary. My local one was around 4 times the price I could get online and not very helpful. Used to be brilliant until it got taken over by one of the multi dealerships. Will keep looking online or try an find an independant skoda garage Alasdair

Many thanks for the replies. I reckon will drain it flush the system and replace with new. I wondered if it was red that had been topped up with water, It looks very pale pink. Not sure when it was changed last so better to be safe than sorry. Don't want to add anything that isnt compatible with whats already in there Alasdair

Antifreeze? is it pink or red
Hi there I need to change timing belt/water pump and need to find out which antifreeze is in car. Not sure if its pink or light red? I got the car recently and don't know what is in it. Am I correct in thinking that any VW G-12/TL774D spec is ok or would I be better to change it rather than top it up? Not sure if pink and red are compatible? Alasdair

Which oil and oil filter 1.9tdi bxe?
Hello there, Needing to order full filter set and timing belt etc but have come up with a question. There are two oil filters listed one has manufacturer restriction hengst and the other seems standard. Is there any way of telling which one is fitted to my skoda without removing filter. I suppose I could just order them both but its seems a waste. I found on the fuel filter casing UFI but cant see anything on the oil filter housing to help identify it. Its a 98 mk2 estate 1.9tdi bxe. Any help welcome.

Weird DPF light problem?
Thanks for the reply, Is it fairly easy to get to the connector? It did cross my mind it might be a wiring fault but it makes more sense to be something to do with the dashboard display etc. Also any reccomendations on a good electrical contact cleaner. Alasdair

Weird DPF light problem?
No I havent touched the car lights. I first noticed the dpf light glowing really dim, almost not noticeable on a very dull day. When I turn the headlights on set to dip the DPF light comes on brightly but also the front fog lights symbol on the dash appear with the dip light symbol. As said the foglight switch is off Have no idea why the two should be connected? Got me a bit confused Alasdair

Weird DPF light problem?
Hi there hope someone can point me in the right direction. I noticed my DPF warning light is on on my skoda octavia estate. The problem is its only on when the headlights are on. The fog light symbol on the dash is also on permanently when the headlights are on even though the fog light switch is off. If I have the sidelights on there is no dpf light and no foglight symbol. Also when the fog light symbol is on with the dip headlights the fog lights are not on either. I hope that makes sense? When the lights are off I can just see a very dim DPF light but not all the time. Has anyone any ideas. Its confused the hell out of me. I cant see that the headlights would be connected to the DPF sensor at all Alasdair
