MIB2 Amundsen - alternative 'fix' for loss of TMC service
It's a pain got tricked by EE even thou they were keeping 2G on longer. Told me my vintage 3G phone was compatible when it wasn't. Just after sales.

MIB2 Amundsen - alternative 'fix' for loss of TMC service
Suspect when the software was written they only had 3G. Probably work happily on 2G. The 2G O2 network is suppose to be being kept going for Smartmeters in England Wales. EE and 3 are turning 3G off now. 3 never had 2G. Probably the ideal is to have O2 π€£or 4G which will continue.

MIB2 Amundsen - alternative 'fix' for loss of TMC service
Feels like your Skoda connect service is faulty or not configured correctly. You could try a SIM card as suggested by joek above.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
It will do. There are groups of TMC providers within those are the providers themselves. In the UK Inrix and what was Traffic Master, it's the latter that has stopped broadcasting in the UK only, Inrix is still broadcasting. One is in one TMC group the other is in the other group. The solutions on the thread shift it to a different TMC group, one that contains Inrix which is still broadcasting. Obviously, the manufactures have deals with the TMC providers funded by the licence they paid at the time. Inrix is like tuning into Radio Luxembourg of old, plays better pop music than BBC Light radio π. Possibly not a good example.

If you pick a route into the centre of London. Toggle show all on the TMC rather than on route that will show all not on the route. You can zoom in and out and move about That's in the TMC menu. TMC icon shouldn't have a cross through it. Did actually show up the road works we were going through in rural Wales yesterday. Tap on the road works sign and it showed you the information text... so that's the queue. Water board digging up the road ahead. Inrix is used by the Highway Agency bodies so this had been entered into their system and broadcast out. You'd never see those on the old provider, not round here except old data stuck in their system about a road to Fishguard port being closes and wanting a big re route around country lane for about six months when there was no road closure. The data accuracy of the old provider didnt fill you with confidence.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
No you have to do @pcbbc version 2 copy over of those modules where he says unzip and copy, overwite. I wasn't certain whether Tazdaz just did that and didn't move to V12. It would have been a quick download anyway if he'd done a full V12 download. Not sure whether @PCbbc's mod is specific to V12 or can be used on previous releases. 1430 is the V12 release. You see that then installed under info or whatever Skoda call it. The card / download to use as the starting point. That's this bit: b. If you don't have VCDS / Obdeleven Pro coding device and want TMC to work in the UK with Inrix service but aren't so bothered about all Europe TMC providers use the module: DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12_TMC_Update_V2.7z This option assumes the current TMC fee based setting is set to 15. Default. In both instances, you need the V12 map: Unmodifed V12 map download: DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12.7z ---- Open up the zip file in the file manager, drag and drop on the card copying over what was there. That's right click in file manager on the zip file, drag and drop onto the SD card. In all instances take a back up copy of the card before you do it.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
This sets the mmi's into context: https://mca.electricmura.ro/en/blog-audi-mmi-mib-models/ Afraid you have to poke around into how it's set up to see whether it uses a TMC group or get someone to. If its like the mib2 standard then it hacking. Either way it needs the provider to be excessive in providing the bells and whistles. On the positive side the cartography did become Here Maps so the TMC might be there to be configured. Needs a check with VCDS/Obdeleven Pro for a simple solution beyond that you'd hit programming I reckon.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Feels like a mib1. There was a report that the coding solution worked for mib1. You got to see what is coded in the infotainment unit on the TMC set code. If you see 15, try 14. That was the reported solution for mib1. For that to work it means that the map file is over engineered for the purpose e.g.. it's generic that it was produced for different markets so was engineered with flexibility. You have to look into the unit with VCDS / Obdeleven Pro looking for the TMC code set. As see set to 15, change it to 14 and reboot. I don't reckon they would have been kitted out for connect services so that 5 character code doesn't come in. You just got to experiment. That's assuming it was over engineered by the map provider and the system people that coded it into the system. You could sniff around Aussie sites that had this unit if any that may have tried to put it on Australian TMC. That was the clue for the mib1 standard. See whether they talking about VCDS coding. It could be straightforward if the mib1 report was correct that was posted up here.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
That's the one where Pcbbc gave two options. Get your coding back to how it was. You need to overwrite those modules. If we had the photo earlier π. 1410 gives it away as a mib2 standard (Amundsen). I have nicely documented the brilliant work done here on the Seat board: https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-136#post-5037297 So you are one release I reckon before V12. Probably best to upgrade to that then you need option a. or b. Mib2 high (Columbus) I put here: https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-136#post-5035425 Saves me referring to the back posts here.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I'd assumed we were on the right route from the start. If the maps are on an SD card on that year then it's a Amundsen (which is a mib2 standard) then it's the other route without coding using the Pcbbc posted fix of old maps with revised module (development of bigade1 method) in the posts above. If no SD card and you got maps on the system, that year then it's just coding. The Pcbbc method for the Columbus (which is a mib2 high) shown above as well that is just the coding method you have done, that splits into two, 14 code you use if your car didn't come with connect services and the head contained 15 as the TMC code or the revised 5 character code if it had the 5 character code (connect services). That latter solution fixes VWs mib2 high units which can have a different 5 character code starting point. Turned up on the thread. Older mib1 high units can be fixed with the 14 coding, that turned up on the thread as well. A photo of the map release used in the system, firmware release code etc also allows people familiar with the units to quickly resolve whether it's a mib2 standard or mib2 high or anything else. I did bring these together for Seatcupra forum in the link above in the posts. All the same solution except for the mib2 standard you have to deploy the "workaround" of copying the overall.nds file if "updating" mib2 standards maps. Seat didn't bless the cars with unlimited mapcare until the final year of mib2s in them... an additional wrinkle. Why I harp on about this in case Seat readers don't do that as well. There is a recovery file I posted up if you fall into that trap which Seat drivers continue to do, not reading the small print. The "workaround" works around not having unlimited mapcare on mib2 on Seats. Mib3 they have fallen inline now. Other than that it's not toggling some basic parameter or having the station in memory. Nb. There is one other mib2 standard unit which I think was never fitted to Seat or Skoda where the fix doesn't work. That's signposted above on the thread. You see someone ask for that fix in the text but no follow up.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Was it working on the old set up with Traffic Master ?. DV52 (trusty DV52) provided some screens on a VW to look out for and toggle: https://golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/enabling-tmc-in-the-uk-is-it-possible.386243/post-7681169 The rest we know the answer to but it's a check list of seeing TP etc. Why I said was it working on Traffic Master previously then all it needs is that TMC code change, failing that and it never was used then it will be fiddling to see the TP or something on the cars menus.

We got this one tuned in on a preset to Classic FM think it's DAB but nothing special. Suppose to be two tuners in the radio, so it uses one of them. It may be helpful to have it tuned to a preset, but I'm out of ideas at the minute. You are not in a difficult part of the country ?.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
It's not going to be 14 If it was the 5 digit code it came from, will be the 32782 (whatever @pcbbcsaid up aove). I bet you didn't hold onto the take the code button on Obdeleven at the bottom long enough.... turns green or something then says adaption accepted or words to that effect. Not a little tap on that button but a long hold. Then exit Obdeleven. Then it's the reboot. The long hold on the on/off button till the unit reboots. Also it's good practice to do a scan before coding. Scan and clear. I've had situations where plunging into coding without a scan before hasn't been a good situation. Scan, clear and code. Lastly there is a short delay whilst it builds it's stuff in the unit on TMC. Leave it a minute or so, then the cross should go out.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2024
Well the dbinfo.txt file is there. I haven't seen it not there. It's where it displays the brands serial release part number whilst the xxxx map release is present. It's in MartiniB's link I downloaded so no issue.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2023/2024
Probably want to send you marketing stuff. I thought the discover care app had been discontinued a few years back so I'd be careful with that. It's release 2110 is what you are looking for when installed, if it's a different number it's not the latest. That app got junked when everything else did on user POI import. It was always the last to be updated after the main map release.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2023/2024
You have to set up an account if you want to take them from there. You don't need to fill too much in.... saying that Martini has posted up the latest links for June 2023 but the mod of this side of the board hasn't pinned it up yet. John as I recall. This one needs unpinning and the other one pinned up. I'll edit that one in here. This one: Note for the mod Amundsend and Columbus ones need the previous ones unpinned and the April - June ones pinned up for this year. The June ones came out in April. If they are we say... you got the old ones.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
There was a market developing in traffic data they probably bought into that whilst Traffic Master didn't. Google uses its Google mobile phones tracks of its users of the app. That type of data will be available to purchase in one means or another. Whether Tom Tom sell theirs on, ditto Apple not sure. You got your road side monitors then just old fashioned going through road closures provided by the Highway Agency or whatever they may be called now. Then there will be websites one suspects which list road closures. Some of that data they get that way. The mobile phone traces are available how real time they can get those in not sure. Here Maps use those to examine new roads. You get the builder trucks first. How Google can spot new roads but if you don't check the aerial image you could be wrong against road plans. The travel time providers are listed in here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/road-congestion-and-travel-times-statistics-guidance/impact-of-changing-local-a-roads-data-source So the question is how complete their data sources are and how timely to turn that in to real time data similar to Google etc. The refresh time was always moaned about on Traffic Master but you'd think that can be mastered and may have been. Interesting subject.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
You can do it yourself as I covered on the SeatCupra thread: https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-136#post-5037297 Yours is a Mib2 standard but with mapcare. You need to apply the Seat workaround as well as outlined since you are on V4 of the maps and V12 is an upgrade. Take a back up copy of the map before you start. If using a Mac use Cleanmydrive. Use the b. option produced by Pcbbc in that link no coding is required. Basically back up card. Download V12 maps. Copy V12 maps to the card. Apply the Seat workaround... this The workaround for that is the standard one: The workaround for that is the standard one: Steps: Download the latest standard MIB2 maps on the infotainment go to settings, safely remove, sd1 card remove sd1 card from glove box slot long press on the on / off to reboot it a couple of times insert sd card in to computer copy and paste all contents to a directory on your computer Format the SD card keep it as fat32 and leave format settings as default in file explorer (don't forget to push the card lock mechanism to off) (ditto in a MAC or delete all from the SD card) Copy the new downloaded map version to the SD card (after unzipping it) Replace /maps/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS on the SD CARD with the one from the original SD card eject the sd card (on a MAC run CleanMyDrive on the SD card - then eject) Inserted the card into the card 1 slot in glove box whilst infotainment is off power on and go to navigation Then apply b. of that link to the card. Quite a few people have got it working on Seats now. The only wrinkle for Seat's is the "workaround" 1-12 above that isn't required on VWs and Skodas. Seat never got life long mapcare so that avoids it. BTW other success ones are on this thread: https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/tmc-not-working.472987/ Mib2 High you do as published on Briskoda board no change, Mib2 standard (card based system, 6P descriptor as above in the picture means it's a Seat Mib2 standard, you use the published stuff here plus the workaround)... clear as mud. That's how I detected it's a Seat Mib2 standard and not Mib1 or a Mib2 High (Plus in Seat's terming of the unit).

1. Obdeleven Pro or invest in a VCDS kit or find soneone to do it for you. Was a link to people on the thread who might help. Buy a beer thing I guess. 2. Yes. 3. Well with TomTom they cut their cloth to fit so no slack in the seams to fit anything else. Was a software engineering decision. VAG are not going to revisit a legacy system. Unfortunately it's how they work on software. It is only a UK issue and they dont have a contract with Inrix, so they would have to get that, rework the software just for the UK. Think that's outside the one year normal UK warranty. They also have safety in numbers with the other manufacturers.

Third party map providers are rip of artists. @pcbbc whether anyone has looked at the DVD. If it's heritage was the Here Maps company before they got called that (Navteq?), you might be in business.
-
TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I suspect not since PCBBC says not here π€ https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/rns-e-tmc-traffic-info-messages.2031631/page-2 Unlike the software tables in the mib2 high and mib2 standard SD card for V12 the lookup tables on the DVD don't cover Inrix. That's what he said. Piece missing from the jigsaw puzzle. It's only that the map developers provided a level of detail for universality of TMC that isn't in all implementations. Mib1 so we learnt on the thread works with the mib2 high coding fix of PCBBC. TMC group code.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
It's the voltage method if you Google it. You jot down what it's currently set at then change to 12v, then change back when it's serviced else they will say an issue with your SS and charge you. It fools the control unit. https://www.google.com/search?q=stop+start+voltage+method&client=firefox-b-d&sxsrf=AB5stBgQGLUKbPcHWGxZGje3rCqJdKdF_g%3A1689337966746&ei=bkCxZO6dLay5hbIPg4-VqA0&ved=0ahUKEwjujKermo6AAxWsXEEAHYNHBdUQ4dUDCA4&uact=5&oq=stop+start+voltage+method&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiGXN0b3Agc3RhcnQgdm9sdGFnZSBtZXRob2QyCBAAGIkFGKIEMgUQABiiBDIFEAAYogRIjiNQ9gRYvhtwAXgBkAEAmAFmoAHHBqoBBDEwLjG4AQPIAQD4AQHCAgoQABhHGNYEGLADwgIGEAAYBxgewgIIEAAYBxgeGA_CAggQABgIGAcYHuIDBBgAIEGIBgGQBgg&sclient=gws-wiz-serp BTW your maps are old @CeeJayCee Latest ones are here: The mod John needs to unpin the 2023 ones and pin these up. I'm thinking he might not be looking after that bit of the board now. Some one else needs to do that. Us Seat moderators like to keep things in order .

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
V2 is the non coding route yes. If the cars current map is pre v12 you needs to do the Seat workaround as well if it's a Seat. V2 works fine on an Arona what I tested it on... and the gold card as well π. Have three cards, the Seat original 16gb, a Skoda 32gb and Samsung Gold card from the experiment I did a few years back. Used that one. Those I experiment with on the partners card.... very understanding π€£.
-
TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I covered writing to Gold cards here but it's cheaper to buy a Vag any card :). Blow by blow account of how to clone. https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-99#post-4899199 Other way is people back the firmware with that mib2 standard tool box which allows you to use normal cards. High risk option.
