Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
Feels like your download is corrupted. Stick to MartiniB's links in the first post. Steer clear of Mac's use a PC. If you do use a Mac run CleanMydrive on the SD card and follow the VW Mac instructions on the in zipping program to run. Unlike a mib2 high (Columbus) there is no data validation on the map data. It wont corrupt your unit but it won't work properly if you have duff data on the card. Stick to the 16gb zoned files in case hacking the map file 32gb to fit messes up the file e.g.. The language edit you get wrong. SD cards can also fail. Buy a new 32gb Skoda one if it's that. May not be accessing part of the card with a new map if it's in a failed part of the card. It wont be the firmware I'm sure. Skoda have also been using zipping programs of recent which lead to issues unpacking their files with unzip programs. If PC based the inbuilt file manager unzip program works fine in this instance. Right click on the zip file in the filemanager, open the inbuilt unzipped of Windows, drag and drop out. Gave an example of that in the matching Columbus thread to this release. Traditionally you were suppose to use 7zip following the VAG guidance but Skoda switched systems which provided varying levels of zip compression which upset unzipping programs. The built in Windows Filemanager can cope with that. The VW guidance I've attached which covers Mac's and the need to use 7zip on a PC now eclipsed by Skodas funny zipping which you may find. Best to use MartiniB's Seat or VW links to avoid this issue but follow VW guidance on procedures. There are my suggestions. Happy Xmas. Discover_Media_MIB_Gen.2_June_2020_EN.pdf

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
If it's a new Kodiak that will be a mib3, not mib2, the thread. Your maps are downloaded automatically over the air in principal. All 2020 models and beyond changed to mib3 across the VAG brands. Probably should say best of luck 😂. You should find threads in the relative parts of the board. The downloads you see for mib3 on the VW site you can't do anything with yet. It's all via your eSim in the device and a good cellular connection. The maps are downloaded in fragments as required. It's a waiting game till you get one, is it going to work, is it not, user set up correctly etc. That's what you will see on the threads. So yes if you maintain connected services beyond the free period you automatically get the latest maps.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Traditionally on a Mac based on VW instructions you were suppose to do what I posted up on 1st November, Keka for unzipping and CleanMydrive once it's copied to the SD card. CleanMydrive removes all the Mac garbage that if inserted within the files will stop the unit doing it's SLA1 signature check. Suspect thou Keka might blow a trumpet on the way the files are zipped by Skoda. VW download doesn't suffer from Skoda's wobbly zipping so you are better using that link. It's all the same material. Bit by bit .

I see the missing one ECE3 from the Seat site has turned up on the VW site. Thanks.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
Reality is the files won't unzip if the zip file is corrupted so the md5sum check is an overkill. Skoda is catching up with Seat. Originally only Seat had it. Has that changed one for MartiniB.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022
Not sure but he's happy. Think a lot of people think these maps found on servers before they are wrapped in a web page are not legitimate / housed on the "wrong" manufactures site are an issue. As we know mib2 maps are interchangeable between VAG brands in general (bit for bit the same). Skoda tends to release 6 months after VW so stay ahead and use whatever is available.

On a Seat it just does it after the language edit doesn't give you any commenter. It is a short term solution since at some point it is likely to out grow what you are deleting so a 32gb card or a zone may be used. To test it you can put the unit in demo mode under advanced setting... That's how I test these type of edit.... saves wasting fuel.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
Windows 11 File Manager I was using on the tricky one which was the Skoda site for the Mib2 High release. That worked whilst the Skoda site zipped file thru up errors on 7zip and WinRaR. Don't reckon the Seat zipped files are affected by the zipping process, just Skoda. You generally use 7zip first until one hit the Skoda zip file issue.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
What we like to hear, Microsoft doing something right 😂 . Suspect Skoda assumes that users use the built in unzipper. Their files least on the high unit were built with a varying level of compression that makes 7zip and WinRAR complain but the built in one is just happy about it.

If Windows use the built in file manager one, right click on the zip file, open up, copy out. Mac, you need to read the special Mac instructions.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
You mean it's a shambles 🤣. Seat do seem to have got their mib2 map side sorted out now except they never got the FeC into the June 2021 release. Probably one guy that is "good" at their job carefully maintaining the file database. We must commend them on it. Other VAG stuff on the 2020- MQB Evo platform is a shambles. Pity they can't write software.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
They are the latest and the language trick works still to get all Europe on a 16gb card for this release least for English. Other countries have dual language releases so may not, but been found to be fine for the UK in this release. Language trick still good for the November 2021 release: June 2021 the All European map out grew 16GB current short term solution if you require all of Europe on the card: For GB language across Europe you just need GB and the meta_info.db in the folder: maps\00\sds That's a fix till it out grows the card again. Other languages pick your plate and delete the rest except meta_info.db

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2022/23
It's to keep the differential between VW and Skoda to give the maps latter to Skoda 😂 I don't think they are on the VW site yet. There is one regional map for Hungary that is missing at the minute that I've been asked about (ECE3). Not sure whether that will turn up or whether it's been deleted from the release. Let MartiniB keep an eye open for that, I've not found it. For people who need that release with a 16gb card you can do the language deletion trick and use the all Europe map or just buy the 32gb Vag card and not use the regional release that's missing.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
That's a MIB2 High showing the previous release of the maps so either of these: # ECE 2022 26.5 GB Version: V03.959.810.C 195 ECE 2022 DevVersion: P195_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT_Q1.21 VW portal: https://vw-maps-cdn.lighthouselabs.eu/vw-maps/P195_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT.7z VW portal: https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/P195_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT.7z Avoids the Skoda zipping discussion and VW servers are faster than Skoda generally.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Reckon he'll need a photo of the screen with hardware part number, firmware number and map serial number. Mib 1 / Mib 2 / standard or high. Four combinations to resolve.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
The VW recommended way for Macs is Keka and CleanMydrive, although I do know that some use Unarchiver. ATTENTION If the map update is performed using the Apple® OS X operating system you may find that Discover Pro does not recognise the map material or displays it incorrectly. This is due to a lack of compatibility between the “7 zip” program and the OS-X operating system. In addition, the OS-X operating system has a tendency to create hidden additional files on external data media. We therefore recommend that OS X users use the “Keka” unzipping program. We also recommend using the “CleanMyDrive” program to remove any hidden files. There the issue is whether the Skoda zipping method works any better in Keka. CleanMydrive takes out the dross that Mac's put in. Another solution is to use the VW portal that doesn't have the "funny" zipped file in it but still needs the special treatment on a Mac.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
The VW portal link is kinder using 7zip on their zip file. As mentioned earlier it seems that Skoda mismanufactured the 7zip file to use with 7zip. It moans but works whilst the Windows built in one works without moaning. VW zip works on either and no moaning 😍. I don't think I gave the File Manager example screen here, open with the built in Windows Explorer, sit on the download, right clicks and Open With Windows Explorer.... so easy: The unzipped should have this size then you know you are in business:

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
You might find that Microsoft use the same code in their File Manager built in unzipped. I used the built in option of Windows 11, right click, drag and drop. No issues. Expect it's the same in Windows 10... so did you try that ?. 7zip moaned but generated the same output but I opted to use the File Manager built in option. Think they used a varying level of compression on those files which upsets 7 zip.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
The NTFS format SD cards come in with the bigger SD cards above 32GB then you use that. The issue that people had who are preoccupied with NTFS was to format 32GB cards in that. The indexing of NTFS takes up more available space than Fat 32GB, so they all came a cropper last time round with release 192, it would not fit on a 32GB card in NTFS but fitted on a 32GB card in Fat32 :). If it's a 32GB card Fat32 is fine for this release, if it isn't then a larger card in NTFS. There were some reports that some people couldn't fit the 192 release on a 32GB FAT32 card. Possibly dubious cards. Fat32 on a 32GB card is fine for the 195 release. Cheaper enough to buy either way. I'm keeping a 64GB card ready for the day but hasn't occurred yet.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
As long as you get the file size after unzipping finishing in 045 after unzipping as above, all should be good. 7 zip thru up many "errors" but did give the same output size as the Windows Explorer (It's proper name within the File Manager). This is a variation from the VAG recommendation to use 7zip but then these files were not zipped in 7zip. I think that's the issue. Possibly it goes unwritten now they expect Skoda customers to use the Windows inbuilt unzipping program, namely Windows Explorer, right click on properties under Windows File Manager to find it on the zip file. The above screen you have is indeed my back end mib2 high import check, the navigation attributes all showed Y which is good to go, 40 minutes later we get changed to OK when viewed and we are good to go. Seat part number this time. 192 it was missed out but the Skoda FeC in the unit took the import but didn't populate the part number area using the "Mib collective" Mib Tool. So it's running thru on the Seat life time FeC on my unit this time round.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
No problems unzipped with the built in file manager which gave unzipped the file size: Fitted on a 32gb FAT32 SD card, installed fine. Works in the car. I believe they have Seat FeCs back in on this release due to no missing line on the info screen that you had before when it used the Skoda FeC. e.g. it came with a Seat part number. (did the double check on the download just in case using Edge the second time, early in the day te downloads on Firefox were checking terminated but still unzipped, looked at the Firefox Furbo Download manager to check all came across inn the end ... zip file size compared fine between the Firefox download and the Edge one overnight - boot and braces approach. 7zip gave errors during unzipping yet gave the same unzipped file size - used the built in Filemanager unzip of the two in the end)

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Thanks Martin. My WinRar is 6.0... moaned once on every folder basically. My 7Zip is 19.0... similar moaning and not extracting. Windows 11 Filemanager no moaning. I know I could work out from the signature whether it's going to work but I'll put in the car using the backend menu and see whether it gives nice little Y's against each attribute, failing that I'll try Total Commander... I might run another download tonight just in case anything did get slipped in and compare, that way before putting it in the car. Fun.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Yep I've got it also now that the autobahs are busy in Germany and they are off their downloads.... That answers my question that it's all the same link. I kept the Turbo Download Manager in Firefox add on open during the download which I think helps, didn't need to hit continue during the download. Some strange things going on unpacking the zip file. Will let you know the success tomorrow. 7Zip game, an error to most of the directories, ditto Winrar. Used the inbuilt Filemanager of Windows 11 to do the unzipping. Well it didn't give any errors unlike the other trusty two. Unpacked I get it to 29.1 GB (31,259,107,328 bytes) on the disk or size 29.1 GB (31,256,300,045 bytes) under properties, should fit on a 32gb Fat32 formatted SD I have with space spare. Will know tomorrow where any random bits and bytes got in when put in the car since it does a full signature validation. Odd that 7zip and Winrar didn't like the file.

Turbo download manager in Firefox is what the youngsters use and keep hitting continue.... how they get firmware downs. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/turbo-download-manager/ Anyhow is that website based portal any faster / reliable ?. I have a VIN 😉. (Still it's a Friday afternoon so Germans will be on their autobahn's heading to weekend destinations so might speed up)

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Ditto. Some people swear by one of the Firefox file managers so will try that... apparently you keep tapping continue everytime it stops or the small hours ($). Skoda servers are rubbish. ($) how they get mib2 firmware off creaking servers 🙄...
