What size discs have you got? The Kodiaq has three different sizes of front brake discs: 312x25mm, 314x30mm, 340x30mm. The front brake systems on the Kodiaq are all TRW brake systems. You can check by measuring the outside diameter of the front brake discs, or if you have build code 1LW that would show that you have 314x30mm front brake discs. What is your current tyre size and rim size? If you're on 165/70R14 fitted to 5Jx14 ET35 rims, there are some non-standard tyre options for those rims. 175/65R14, 185/60R14, 185/65R14, etc. Perhaps 175/65R14 would be the pick of the bunch because it's a common and cheap tyre size and will be a good fit for the 5J rims. The below tyre would work well in the summer, ie. it's not a winter or all-season tyre as it doesn't have the 3PMSF symbol, so has limited traction in the snow. For best comfort it's important to avoid UHP summer tyres or other tyres that could have stiff sidewalls, and not to over-specify the tyre's load index or speed index. Using a 98 load index instead of a 94 load index will make the tyre's sidewalls stiffer and therefore the ride harder. 205/60R16 are slightly undersize on the Superb MK3. One of the owner's manuals only mentioned 215/60R16 and 215/55R17 tyre sizes for use with snow chains. 215/55R17 tyres have an outside diameter 2.4% bigger than 205/60R16. wheel-size.com do often make mistakes, so do check your owner's manual.

The outside diameter of 205/55R16 is too small for the Superb MK3. Have you considered using all-season tyres all year round, such as Michelin CrossClimate 2 ?

The Octavia MK2 uses 205/55R16 tyres fitted to 6.5Jx16 ET50 rims. The Octavia MK3 uses 205/55R16 tyres fitted to 6.5Jx16 ET46 rims. The Superb MK3 uses 215/60R16 tyres fitted to 6.5Jx16 ET41 rims. Outside diameter 205/55R16 631.9mm 215/60R16 664.4mm Therefore, 215/60R16 has an outside diameter 5.1% bigger than 205/55R16. So if you use 205/55R16 instead of 215/60R16, the outside diameter of the tyres will be too small.

235/30R20 isn't the usual tyre size on an Octavia MK4. The outside diameter is too small, and so is the load index. The front tyres on FWD cars wear much quicker than the rears. One option is to keep the new tyres on the front until they wear out. It's often claimed that it's best to fit two new tyres on the rear and move the part worn rear tyres to the front. However, if you have 5mm of tread on the rear it's not necessary because the front tyre wear will quickly catch up with the wear on the current rears. Next time when it comes to tyre replacement you will then be able to look for four matching new tyres.

The VW Polo MK5 came out years before the Fabia MK3. The VW Polo MK5 used the same 185/60R15 tyre size fitted to the same 6Jx15 ET38 rims that the later Fabia MK3 used, so maybe VAG dealers started selling the VW Polo MK5 spare wheel as a spare wheel for the Fabia MK2. 185/60R15 (fitted to 6Jx15 ET38 rims) was likely a cheaper spare wheel option than 195/55R15 (fitted to 6Jx15 ET43 rims). If a Fabia MK2 owner was using non-standard and oversize (bigger outside diameter) 215/40R17 tyres, then 185/60R15 would have been a good match to the outside diameter of the 215/40R17 tyres (closer than 195/55R15).

That is why in most other countries, 17" wheels are very popular on the Octavia MK3 VRS instead of 18" wheels. The extra sidewall height makes the rims far more resistant to pothole damage. Could the choice of non-standard 185/60R15 over standard 195/55R15 on the Fabia MK2 have anything to do with price? ie. lower price on 185/60R15 compared to 195/55R15. Although the 185/60R15 would give a better ride, and slightly better mpg due to slightly less drag being a narrower tyre. It's possible people were using 185/60R15 size tyres as spares before the Fabia MK3 came out, but it wouldn't have been fitted to the same style of 6Jx15 ET38 steel rim that the Fabia MK3 uses, because that wasn't available until the Fabia MK3 came out. One of the benefits of the 185/60R15 tyre size was the lower price compared to the 195/55R15 tyre size. The 185/60R15 (which was fitted to a 6Jx15 ET38 rim) didn't come out until the Fabia MK3, so couldn't have been OEM on the Fabia MK2.

185/60R15 isn't an OEM size on the Fabia MK2, although I expect it would fit in the spare wheel well because the outside diameter is only 7.5mm more than the 195/55R15 tyre size.

What specification are the 15" alloy rims that are fitted? If you find out, you might be able to get a matching 15" steel rim, ie. same width and offset. The 15" rims that the Fabia MK2 normally uses have a specification of 6Jx15 ET43 which you can see in the chart below. As you will see, there are three different steel rim sizes that the Fabia MK2 uses, 5Jx14 ET35, 6Jx14 ET37, 6Jx15 ET43. The 5Jx14 would normally use the 165/70R14 tyre size, the 6Jx14 would normally use the 185/60R14 tyre size, and the 6Jx15 would normally use the 195/55R15 tyre size. The outside diameter of a 185/65R15 tyre is a massive 7.6% bigger than 185/60R14, although a more reasonable 4.4% bigger than 195/55R15. As long as the 185/65R15 doesn't rub (including on full steering lock) and you are happy that the gearing, especially 1st gear and top gear isn't too high. Having lower gearing for the 60PS version than the 75PS would make no sense as they both have the same low down torque and so the lower powered version can just as easily pull the same gears as the 75PS version. Having different gearboxes and/or final drive would add unnecessary expense to produce the cars. Lower gearing would mean higher fuel consumption, and the 60PS version is actually slightly more economical than the 75PS version, ie. 4.5L/100km instead of 4.7L/100km. As you can see below, 17" wheels can be fitted to the Octavia MK3 VRS. The Octavia MK3 facelift diesel VRS has smaller front 312mm discs, so 16" wheels will fit those cars. 205/50R17 tyres fitted to either 6Jx17 ET45 or 6Jx17 ET48 rims are approved for snow chains. 225 tyres are too wide for snow chains on the Octavia MK3.
