  1. I've never experienced the upshift but that's probably because I don't thrash it hard enough. As stated by others, It will downshift as & when it decides its necessary.
  2. That would work, or if you have the ECO drive mode option you could utilise the coasting function.
  3. The G12 Evo should also allow you to dispense with the silica 'tea bag' in the expansion bottle ( if it has one that is. )
  4. Yes, my Michelin Cross Climates made a massive difference compared to the previous Dunlop SportMaxxs. I'm always interested in 'simple' add-ons to reduce the cabin noise further.
  5. Has the sound deadening had much effect?
  6. Mine is offside front. Managed to mangle the connector when taking out the old pads though. It seemed to have become a little brittle over time.
  7. Were the fault codes read and cleared after you fitted the sensor?
  8. +1 from me. I've found them so much quieter than the Dunlops too.
  9. Ignore the official advice and get the oils changed, both transmission and mechatronic @ 40k. Having seen the state of the oil from my DQ200 it is certainly worth doing. £215 is not a bad price but a good indy would likely do it a bit cheaper.
  10. Maybe this....? https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/subatomic-particles-cosmic-rays-computers-change-elections-planes-autopilot-a7584616.html
  11. I've always understood the left column is front and the right is rear as the orientation of the sketch of the car above. I would suggest using the fully laden pressures should be selected.
  12. If you can't feel the difference between the settings then it's likely not working.
  13. All searches that I've done point toward the Mech being at fault, however as yours is a 2013 and a DQ200, has it ever had a Mech oil change? It won't have been done during a standard Skoda service as it's listed not required, sealed for life ( or words to that effect ). IMO it needs to get done in line with service schedules listed for other VAG DQ transmissions. Mine came out as a brown goo rather than a green liquid and frustratingly the filter is internal to the mechatronic so it would require disassembly in order to change/clean it. The drain & refill procedure is not particularly difficult and there are a few youtube videos showing how it can be done. Just be sure that it's the DQ200 version you watch. This may not be the 'fix' but it will do no harm and is a cheap to do. The fluid is only about £20 and about 1 - 2 hrs labour.
  14. Shouts Mechatronic to me. You've had everything else repaired. I have the 1.6tdi as well, so I share your pain. The DQ200 is a dog.
  15. Did you get the dpf checked out by your man? Your previous thread mentioned high idle after runs and I think the fans staying on which are early signs of regeneration issues.
  16. Just looked it up. Alcohol yes, ale no.😄
  17. Mine has been broken for the last 4 years and, for what it does, I can't be bothered to replace it. I will be trying your IPA solution though ( surely not India Pale Ale ) to see if it fixes it.
  18. Ha ha yes indeed, however most cars will depreciate over time so I missed that off. The way things were with the 2nd hand car market 4 years ago, I could have sold it for more a year later with 25k extra miles. I've no clue what it's worth now though. Out of interest I plugged the details into webuyanycar and they refused to price it and pointed me toward Motorway who valued it at about £3500 iirc.
  19. Two timing belt and water pump changes plus replacement clutch pack and flywheel was where the most of the labour was. Have bought 12 tyres, ( 8 Dunlop SportMaxx & most recently 4 Michelin Cross climate 2's) . I've changed the brakes & discs all round and the rear shocks, so saved a couple quid on labour there.
  20. A quiet Friday at work so did a few calcs based on my 4 year ownership ( almost to the day ) of my 2016 1.6Tdi Estate. Days Owned 1460 Maintenance, Service, Spares, Repairs £7220.48 Insurance £1568.73 Road Fund Licence £80.00 Total ( excl fuel ) £8869.21 Distance Driven ( Miles / km ) 100,608 / 160,973 Av. Miles / km per day 68.9 / 110.26 Fuel used ( gallons / ltr ) 1725.33 / 7843.52 Av. mpg / km/ltr 58.3 / 20.52 Cost per day ( excl fuel ) £6.07 Maintenance includes fitting of a new clutch pack & flywheel + transmission service. The rest being usual tyres, wipers, servicing etc all of which was carried out by an indy. Dull I know, but something to do whilst waiting for a courier to turn up, albeit a day later than arranged.
  21. Where does the clutch bite, near the top?
  22. That sounds like a Tdi but I'm guessing it isn't.
  23. A myriad of possibles, particularly as not much info known about the car's history, servicing, mileage etc which may be relevant. If the leak-check is the green dye shown in the picture, was that spilled as well, or is it what has accumulated after running the engine? First off, I'd run the engine with the filler cap removed to see if you've got pulsating pressure puffing out, this may indicate worn rings or badly seated valves.
  24. Is this a "Feature" of the car or a malfunction? So many cars now have the annoying (dangerous IMO) feature of the headlight switching off when the indicator switches on.
