  1. This is a problem for me in most cars on sharp left hand corners, but I just duck down lower to get a clear view under the mirror to see where I'm going.
  2. I'm fine with seat in my car. I'm in Croatia at the moment having driven from the UK and I've had no problem with driving for a long distance, although it was in legs of about 6 hours per day. At 70, it's enough driving in one day as we're usually on the road for 7 hours or a bit more with delays for road works, congestion, toilet breaks, etc. I start off the day with the seat in my memory position and sometimes make fine adjustments on the journey so I'm not constantly in the exactly the same position, but can always return to my preferred settings at any time. That's an advantage of the electric seat and it also gives you very fine adjustment to get in precisely the right position. It can take some time to find exactly the right position. Like irc, I'm the only driver, so the seat and mirrors are only altered by me.
  3. Have you checked with the local Police Station as the key may be handed in there if someone found it? It's probably a long shot, but it may be worth an entry on somewhere like nextdoor and offering a decent reward, say £50, as that's a lot less than paying for a new key! Make sure you don't disclose your address though, otherwise you may lose your car as well as your key!
  4. My most recent fill up last week was £1.49 (€1.67) per litre for diesel. I was in Slovenia though and it'll be back to UK prices next week!
  5. I know the top ones on the hatch are easy to remove and refit as I've done this when I've been trying to stop them catching on the front rubbers. They simply clip over the rubber seal underneath and when you take them off, you will see a flange that they will fit over when you go to replace them. I'm not sure about the V piece on the rear door of the hatch, but it looks similar to the piece at the rear of the combi window around the load area, but you don't have this on the combi back door anyway. I'll order them from the dealer as I don't know anywhere else that is likely to stock them.
  6. The map updates for Columbus come out every 6 months and I'm currently on maps for 2022/23, which came out last month, so yours are well out of date. I updated them before our trip to Croatia that I'm current on to hopefully cover any new junctions, roads, etc. In about 5 months from now, the 2023 maps will be out. You'll need to download the update onto SD or USB and then press the update when it's loaded and can be read and updated. There are plenty of threads on here explaining how to update the maps and overcome common problems.
  7. Mine's a hatch, which is a different design to the combi but I've had the same problem over the years and have been pushing the chrome strips back on both sides back whenever they've come loose. Just over a week ago I was on the Dover-Calais ferry and the nearside must have come loose when SWMBO was getting in the car as we going along the French motorway about 15 minutes after starting our journey when there was a metallic noise from the nearside. When we stopped for our first night, I discovered that the top chrome strip had gone and the V section at the end of the door was bent, so I'm going to have to replace these. I can only assume the wind got behind it and pulled it off as we gathered speed. I can't blame SWMBO for not noticing if it'd come loose as I opened the door for her. I may have missed it as it was noisy on the car deck and the light was poor. I hope a new chrome strip will fit firmly on the rubber as I'm worried that after pushing the old one back many times, the rubber strip will be tired and not hold it properly. I think the chrome strips are just an interference fit, so they shouldn't be too difficult to replace. We're in Croatia at the moment and won't be back for another week when I'll look at the problem.
  8. I have the same problem and find it's not the easiest place to clean with its knobbly finish. The MkII was better as I could lift it out to clean it in the sink without having to dismantle the entire centre section. So much for improvements on the MkIII!
  9. My windows are always the same after every wash, but a polish with a glass cleaner clears all the water and dust spots. I washed mine yesterday and will polish the windows and car today ready to go away next week. At 70, washing and polishing the car in one day is too much for my old bones!
  10. That makes sense. If you were driving along and accidently touched a button for a very tall or very short person and the seat stated moving forward or back to the extreme of its travel.....
  11. We use ours to run a cool box that held upright with a bungee strap. It's especially useful at this time of year if we go shopping in Merthyr Tydfil at Tescos, Asda, etc as it's a 20 mile journey or when we go away to keep drinks and food cool. We simply turn it in or off by plugging or unplugging it as needed. Could you do this for your fan as I'd have thought you'd be opening the tailgate to let the dog in and out anyway?
  12. I wasn't offended and I'm sorry if my reply sounds as if I was! I'm only too pleased to chat with people like yourself about these topics and issues.
  13. I run on Vredestein Quatrac Pro, which are all season tyres. I find these are adequate for the weather we receive here, as it's often wet and below 7c, even at this time of year! I retired in 2017, so I no longer commute and I don't need to use the car if the weather is bad. I live within walking distance of the town centre if we get snow. Nowadays it's quite rare that I'm driving in the dark or before 9.00 am when the roads are more likely to be affected by bad weather.
  14. I agree with what you say, but if you applied that rule rigidly you'd never be able to rotate the wheels to even out tyre wear if the rear tyres had to be the ones with more tread on them. The front tyres weren't very old and I haven't been far since with lockdown, so there's not much difference between the front and rear tread depths. As I mentioned previously, the rear tyres were fine regarding tread depth, but were starting to perish and splits were easily visible. With two trips to Europe by car coming up soon (to Croatia and then Lithuania), I want the everything to be in tip top order before I leave. I don't swap to winter tyres as we don't have the bad weather to warrant them. Last winter, we didn't have any snow, apart from on the mountains, and the roads were unaffected. I know that winter in Finland is completely different; I went there once in winter and spent from Christmas to New Year in hospital in Helsinki with pneumonia!
  15. I'm replacing my rear tyres and I'll ask the tyre depot to rotate the wheels so that the new tyres will be on the front. The rear tyres are starting to perish rather than being worn as they've only done 30,000 miles but are 6 years old. I'd have probably worn them down to the limit if we hadn't had Covid and lockdown. They'd ordered the tyres I want and they were due to be changed on Thursday last week, but when I got there and they looked at the tyres, they realised they'd been sent 18" tyres, but mine are 19"! Luckily they looked at the new tyres before taking my old ones off the rims.
  16. Mine was registered in October 2016 and it's only covered 30,000 miles so far (I've hardly used it over the past two years with lockdown). I had the cam belt and water pump changed last year when it was 5 years old as I wouldn't want to take the risk and leave it longer, although it's not cheap but as it's only every 5 years, I'll have changed the car before it's due again. The rear tyres on the car are the originals and they're starting to perish so I'll need to change them very soon. The rubber cam belt could have be going the same way. We're planning on two trips abroad by car this year; next month to Croatia and to Lithuania in August. I wouldn't want to set off on these journeys with any niggling doubt over whether I should have ignored service recommendations. Also, as I had the work carried out at the main dealer, I have European breakdown cover for a year and if the cam belt or water pump broke, I'd expect a hefty contribution from Skoda.
  17. Thanks for the above and I've read about Wet and Forget and I think I'll try it. There is some algae around the garden to shift, but on the car I have algae on the door seals. One of the reviewers of the product says they've removed it from their door seals with this product.
  18. I remember in the 1950s/1960s this factory near Market Harborough in Leicestershire used to make glue from animal bones, so it's not new technology to make adhesives from animal parts. When the wind was in the wrong direction as you went past, the stench was overpowering. https://goo.gl/maps/PSaj7tSoEUMfz6R19
  19. I've had that warning when it's snowing, but last year it came on in the middle of summer and stayed on until I took it to the dealer to get it sorted out. It turned out to be a broken bracket behind the sensor. I've no idea how it was broken as there's no sign of damage on the sensor or the surrounding area.
  20. Mine was registered in October 2016 and I bought it when it was eight months old, but it doesn't have a TV tuner installed. My 2012 Superb MkII had a TV tuner. As SWMBO doesn't drive, I'm often taking her shopping, to the doctors' surgery, etc and waiting in the car, so I miss being able to watch it whilst I'm waiting, so I take something to read instead.
  21. I don't think the Mk III Superbs have given too much trouble with water leaks when compared to the Mk Is, many of which leaked around the pollen filter and into the passenger well. If you have a sunroof, you'll need to check the drains as these can cause leaks into the car if they become blocked.
  22. Have you pressed menu on the centre button of the heating and ventilation controls to see if it shows the temperature selected and red arrows for airflow to the rear?
  23. I remember a story from a while ago where a Jaguar owner took his car to the dealer after 3 years and complained that his headlights were very poor. When he returned to collect his car, they asked if he'd ever cleaned the inside of his windscreen since he bought the car, to which he replied "No". They said his lights should be OK now and all they'd done was clean the inside of his windscreen. He was looking through a "fog" that made his lights appear to be very dim. The windscreen picks up a film from the plastics and the air blowing from the vents and should be regularly cleaned. I've found that condensation and misting are much reduced if the windscreen is kept clean.
  24. Do the vents under the front seats still blow warm air to the rear? It may be worth trying to reset the heating and ventilation flaps, though I'm not sure how to do this as I've never needed to perform this function. You should find it on the forum if you carry out a search.
  25. I ordered a new L&K in 2012 using Skoda Finance on an interest free deal for 50% of the cost of the car and the car was also under another deal where they knocked off the VAT and we agreed to a rounded price of £24,000. They said the car would be delivered in about October/November 2012, but they suddenly called me towards the end of August to say they had received the car and it needed to be registered straight away under the terms of the deal. I said I wasn't happy at it arriving early at such short notice and I wouldn't have 50% of the purchase price available for a week or so, so it'd be September by then when I'd have a 62 registration instead of a 12 registration. The person I spoke to said they'd have to discuss it with their manager and he came back a short time later and agreed to register it in September.
