  1. If this is an important update, it may need to be done by a dealer, as there could well be a requirement to log that the update has been done by a Skoda dealer. I've had at least one update where this was required.
  2. I have one Michelin which is the original on a 19 registered car. The tyre has covered 65,000 miles. In the last 2 years minor cracking similar to the first picture was mentioned at MOT. This year the same tyre was still on the car and cracking wasn't mentioned at all. The tread is still legal, but is certainly reaching the end of its life.
  3. Do you always indicate when changing lanes? If not, try and see if it makes a difference.
  4. There are hundreds of cables and adapters to chose from on Amazon, if you currently wish to use them. I use my usb c phone in 2 cars, one has a usb socket, the other a asb a. I just keep the cable plugged in in each car. Cables will ususlly be power and data, although I had to buy a data blocking cale for a satnav, as I needed it fitted to a switched usb (on my Skoda the 12V sockets are permanently live) and by connecting to the usb the camera thought it was connecting to a computer. I don't know whether you can get data only or power only usb c cables.
  5. Do you mean the original 3 year warranty? Might be worth enquiring how much an extended Skoa warranty would cost.
  6. Just checked my policy. The excess for windscreen replacement is £140!
  7. I follow someone who is a private hire driver, and the phone apps are how he gets his jobs, so it needs to be visible at all times he is working.
  8. I thought that if the car was held with autohold on and start/stop active, that the engine would restart as a safety precaution. This is (at least partly) to prevent accidents when opening and working under the bonnet in case the car decided to restart itself. I'll give it a try tomorrow, if I remember.
  9. As far as I am aware the system will allow the car to slow in a traffic jam, stop, then accelerate again. However, obviously it cannot do this with manual transmission.
  10. Sorry, I get confused by some of the acronyms used. I was referring to the type of CC which adjusts to the speed limit which the car obtains from either the satnav or the road signs and slow you down for bends. I could set a 50mph cruise on a 60mph road, then the cruise reset at 30mph through a village, then went back up to 60mpg rather than 50mph on reaching the 60mph signs. I don't want the car to tell me what the cruise should be set at, I wish it to set it to what I want. Also braking for bends was too harsh and uncomfortably fast. I am happy with how my car is set, whatever it is called. I am happy that it keeps a good distance from the traffic in front, although I would actually prefer to not have braking on downhill sections as the application is rather crude and uncomfortable.
  11. I have ACC on our Karoq. Spent extra specifying it and wish I hadn't wasted my money. You can turn the adaptive part off and essentially use it as a normal cruise control, although I can't tell you how as I did it 2-3 years ago. It still controls the distance from the car in front and applies brakes to prevent overspeeding down hills.
  12. Mine was in for the 4th occurrence of this fault where it could be practically guaranteed to alarm in any journey exceeding 10 miles. Initially it was diagnosed as a faulty aerial (there are 2, both previously changed, one twice. This time technical requested a software update. I was a bit dubious, as software updates hadn't fixed it before, but this time it hasn't faulted since. although I have only taken it out twice since it was carried out.
  13. The simplest thing to do is to use google maps, Waze or Apple Carplay. These should be compatible with a 2019 car. I havethe Skoda satnav in my Karoq, but I hardly use it except as a back-up as 'Laura' is useless setting destinations, and seems to be getting worse.
  14. On my Karoq, if I set a destination on Google maps, the Skoda map comes up. It is easy to convert back to how I want it, like in the middle photo above. On the right of the steering wheel, press the button on the bottom left. Then scroll to what you want, in my case, overview. Leave it a few seconds and the diagram will increase in size. I like mine on 'since start',if it is on any other reading, after overview is selected press the scroll bar to change the setting to what you want.
  15. Obviously only possible with an auto gearbox.
  16. The boot light is not detachable on my late 2021 car, and I suspect it was discontinued earlier.
  17. The screen is not in my face. It is on the left of the rear view mirror at the top of the windscreen (RHD car) and it is out of my normal vision. It is no distraction to me, but I undestand it may be an issue for some.
  18. I have a 64gb Sandisk Ultra A1 and it is fine. In our Skoda I have a Viofo camera, and it is fitted with a Viofo card. These are cheaper than Nextbase cards.
  19. I have a Nextbase camera. I tried usb c, I tried a 2 amp supply, I tried several cables. The camera would work for a while until the battery ran down. It appeared that the screen and the recording were using more power than the power supply could provide so it switched off when the battery was flat. When I used a 3A supply it was fine. I also have a Viofo camera which works fine on usb c. This camera will not light the screen in normal use.
  20. Just be aware that using a usb c as power source may be a problem. I couldn't get a Nextbase to work on usbc or on a bullet adaptor until I upgraded to a 3 amp connector.
  21. Was this a dangerous fault, and when did/does the old MOT expire. If not considered dangerous then you can still drive if your old MOT has not expired.
  22. My daughter has a Renault Captur and her renewal for the new year has gone down £20. Maybe she crossed an age threshold.
  23. Does it drop out or do you get a fault message and the tell tale above your head change from green to red? I've had this fault attended to 3 times now, and it is due in again the day after Boxing Day. You may be told it's an issue with mobile phone coverage or that a software update is required, but in my experience it is likely to be a hardware fault.
  24. Sorry to resurrect this. My Karoq has been in to Skoda 3 times for SOS fault. Last time was before taking the car on a 2000 mile trip to Germany and Austria where it performed perfectly. Yesterday I had the emergency alarm fault 4 times in 50 miles. Sigh! Here we go again. A good job I took out an extra 2 years manufacturers warranty (perhaps there was a warranty on the last repair)
