Changing battery in key makes it not working
BillyParker replied to tyndetove's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I have changed batteries on two keys now on my 2018 2l with no problems. CR205. -
Skoda superb mk3 coolant silica bag split
BillyParker replied to ScottSuperb's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Having heard of the horrors stories about these bags bursting, I replaced my header tank with a new one, with no bag. I have paid for a 2 year warranty, recovery, 2 services and MOTs. Could they refuse to honour this because I changed the header tank. -
The tfc announcments arn't as comprehensive, only local radio stations. (or not so local) I,m in Somerset and only get Welsh announcements . Drove up to Scotlalnd last month and got local updates all the way.

TBH, I didn't notice any difference. Perhaps the one click app didn't work.
-
I've used the one touch apps for some things, (Before I read about all the things that could go wrong). Changed comfort indicator from 3 to 5, throttle response, and something on the front lights. Had no problems at all. Won't use then now though. I used OBD11 to recode battery when changed to AGM. Straightforward job.

Replacement Battery Recommendations
BillyParker replied to Spacehopper7's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I have the Pro plan and had no problems with coding the battery, so looks like you will need to upgrade to that. I got mine in July last year, cost £107 and still have 298 days left before renewal. I reckon it was worth it, I have done a few one click ops, found a problem with memory seats, so saved cost of dealer scan, and coded battery. -

I changed the long code to the date with leading zeros to fill it, ie today 2 Oct 23 would be0000021023. So then you have a record of when battery was replaced. Of course If the capacity is higher than original, change that also, and change type from EFB to Fleece which is the name Skoda uses for AGM -
Yes, I clicked on 15, got a box with 32771 and changed that to 14.

I just changed value in box to 14. and started getting some traffic announcements, but not so comprehensive. Still find Waze better though.

Replacement Battery Recommendations
BillyParker replied to Spacehopper7's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I got mine from Tayna batteries last december. Cost £121, may be a bit more now. Ordered in morning and received next day. Google Tayna to get website address. -
Replacement Battery Recommendations

It's an easy 5 minute job on OBD11. If you fit a AGM, change type to fleece, and change capacity as it will probably be higher. -
I got a bit paranoid about the silicone bag and, because my expansion tank had the bag in an internal tube, I could not remove it. So I changed the tank for the latest revision which does not have a bag. Fine so far. But what I don't know is what is the coolant in the car. Is it g12 or g13. Various posts on here state it should be on the tank but I can't find it. If it is g12 can I top up with g13 and vice versa? 😧

Quiet tyre recommendations?
BillyParker replied to T5DKO's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I got advisories for wall cracking on the rear tyres. OEM tyres Hankook Ventus Prime 2, fitted in 2018 and covered 30500mls. That seemed to be ok to me so have fitted again and 67 db noise. I do under 5k a year so will last me out (79 next month) -
Waze driving instructions
BillyParker replied to TerryJP's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I use Waze and have never seen the instructions on the dash as you describe. You can change what appears there using the green scroll button on rght side of steering wheel if that helps. -
I had considered changing all four but the fronts had been replaced before I got the car with Pirelli P7, and they still had over 6mm on them. The Hankooks were OEM fitted and had done over 30k, so I thought that was reasonable. I'm in Somerset so not likely to be out in snow, and I'm doing less than 5k a year. I will probably stop driving in 3 years when I hit 82, if not before then.
-
Got an MOT advisory for rear tyres last month. Still had over 3mm but sidewalls cracked, and on the car since new in 2018, 30250 miles, fitted Hankook Ventus Prime 2, same as originals.

Ok, don't know much about binary, and understand even less. But checked on Google and binary for 14 is 1110. Do you think I should enter this or just the number 14. Am I liable to really screw things up? Don't normally worry to much about tfc announcments, I use WAZE, so not a great loss if I can't get them. By the way, Radio ok this morning.
-
Thought of putting 14 in box but I have very little experience of using OBD11 either. Didn't want to risk messing it up. Regarding the radio sound, I am leaving it off until tomorrow and see if it works then. There are a few posts on here of things malfunctioning but next time switched on is ok. If it isn't ok in the morning i'll try resetting it.

I had a look at this using my OBD11. Entered 5f found TMC. Clicked on it and it came up with 15 as per stated. However when I clicked on the 15, thinking it would allow me to change it to 14 I got a white panel with three small dashes in the top left and the number 0 - 65535, and the options to click 'Cancel or OK'. Decided not to try changing this number and cancelled. Came out of OBD and found the volume on the radio had disappeared, no sound. Tried turning it up but the sound bar didn't move. Turned it down and the soundbar went down to 0 . Turned it up and sound bar didn't move. So I gotout of the car and came on here to see what others think. TIA.

Sorry, didn't read post properly, I have Columbus. But for the sake of a tenner why not try it. As @Danoidsays its only a sticker although @langers2ksays it only works on Columbus. And I still use SD cards. When I bought mine it was only a couple of quid more for two than for one. So I have put a load of songs on the second one, and use that in the SD slot.

Another recommendation for Tayna

Fitted header tank this morning, only took me 35 minutes. Peace of mind now.
