  1. See my post above, I have an early Mk4 Octavia yet through the app it informs me I won't be able to continue receiving connect services
  2. So that's my car, not sure about others. If you have the app enabled already it could be worth checking out for yourself
  3. The issue I have with my air con is that unless I have it running constantly my windows fog up, be it the windscreen, side windows and even the rear. Does anyone else experience this?
  4. I've noticed if I pass a car on the inside which is waiting in a turning lane the ACC puts the brakes on, even when you're past it. Now when I see a car turning off into such a lane ahead I cancel ACC for a while until I'm past
  5. I just took out a free trial of infotainment online and it's updated my map database to 24.10 However, now my nav is stuck on daylight all the time, which is quite blinding when you're driving in the dark. I can manually switch it to night mode, but on the auto setting it stays on Day 24,/7. Any ideas...? 💡 🤔
  6. Well just did a factory reset which came with another OTA update so will see how this goes...
  7. My fault only initiated a couple of days after installing the second of two OTA updates since upgrading to 1985. Although that's not to say it was in any way connected to the upgrade, it's just the first time I've experienced the issue, I'm a relatively new Skoda owner
  8. I did it on the back of advice from a VAG software specialist mate, he said no need to do other updates first as that's what I planned on doing
  9. My last day on 1896 I got the parking sensors warning amongst other things (all of which are mentioned on here) so I updated. Everything was working perfectly (except KESSY) until today, I applied the 2nd of the 2 OTA updates I've had since installing 1985 the day before yesterday... Just travelled 90 miles back home without an issue so who knows? I've been meaning to perform a factory reset since applying 1985 so I'll probably try and get that done over the weekend. Hopefully that'll sort it, but will have to wait and see...
  10. Had 2 OTA App updates this week since installing 1985 and updating maps to 23/12. Then today, about 80 miles into a 90 mile trip, Android Auto navigation dropped out (just a black screen) I could still get on to the home page at that point but then everything stopped working. The radio was still playing but I couldn't adjust the volume or anything, and then when I ended my journey and parked up, the radio wouldn't turn off at all at first when I locked up. Only after reopening, turning on and then turning off again did everything go off as it should. I'm coming up to 6 weeks into my Octavia ownership (21 plate SEL) add this is the first real issue I've experienced. Anyone else had something similar?
  11. Mine still has the buttons up the side...
  12. No, the other way around, from 1896 to 1985 👍🏼
  13. I know that, but what I was getting at is you don't have to go to 1941, or 1969 for that matter in between...
  14. You can go straight from 1896 to 1985 (the latest) I did so myself
  15. I thought it got louder as you got closer to an object?
  16. Sorry, searched forum and didn't find any help regarding the issue I'm currently experiencing... KESSY has worked flawlessly since I picked up my 2021 Octavia a month ago, however, since I updated to 1985 a couple of days ago, it now no longer locks when you cover the button on the door handles (any of them) It still opens when you grab the handles, but won't lock unless you use the key fob to do it manually. Any idea's of what could be the cause of this or a possible work around..?
  17. Here here, mate. Well said. I too should give thanks to those who not only provided all the necessary software and instructions, but also those who posted their success stories, cos between you all you gave me the confidence to go ahead with it.
  18. 1896, but not 1806. I'd seek expert advice before attempting that if I was you
  19. I like the fact that the warning tone from within the car comes from the corresponding speaker... so if you're moving your head, looking around, and you hear a beeping tone coming from behind you on the left hand side, you know that's where there's an object. Previous (older admittedly) cars I've had have sounded a generic tone but never had one come from specific areas as it does in the Octavia 🙂
  20. Not sure it'd help you tbh, just because you have traffic sign recognition doesn't mean you shouldn't be still looking out for traffic signs yourself....
  21. Is there any way of telling when the update is actually complete? Or is it just when it displays the newer version number? Mine seemed to update quite quickly that's all (as in showing it had changed to 23.12) but I haven't yet took out the usb drive just in case it's still running in the BG
  22. I just updated my infotainment to 1985 from 1896 yesterday. My maps were 19.7, today I ran the USB update using the latest D/L from the Skoda portal (as pictured above) yet it's only brought me up to 23.12 I think it could be that you need an active subscription to receive further updates, although obviously I'm not sure. Seems strange that the latest update only took me up to version 23.12 though....
  23. I have no reason to believe otherwise, however, I am NOT an expert so you may want to consider further advice before going ahead. But I CAN confirm that you can update to 1985 straight from 1896, no need to go to 1941 or 1969 first.
  24. Not the first time I've read this, however, when I bought my used Octavia (from a non dealer) I was able to add myself as primary user the very first time I tried, as when I picked it up it was still registered to the previous owner. I can't remember exactly how I did it, just went through the settings and voila
  25. I ran the update today, straight from 1896 to 1985 after seeking advice from a VAG software specialist, and it went absolutely fine just as I was told it would.
