  1. Prescribed fuel for Mk2 Fabia vRS were Super Unleaded is Super Unleaded 98. Except 98 stopped being sold in the UK, so you got 97 or 99 min. Obviously you could run on 95 ron, but as many of us know, not so well. The recommended octane was also 98 ron for GTI.s & R,s. Golf, Sirocco, Polo etc, Not all E10 has 10% bio, it can have up to, and not all E5 has 5% Bio Ethanol. Even Momentum 99 E5 in the UK is not the sdame around the country, or ESSO Synergy as delivered by Greenergy. Fuel consumption need not be increased, but emissions might well be reduced. Petrol formulation changed in March delivery in the UK. Winter formulation is less Hygroscopic. E10 % E5. and the E5 might well be above 99 ron as Continental Super unleaded of 100-102 ron might be brought in.
  2. Sounds very much like the Skoda Technical Department is now AI.
  3. The belt is a lifetime item. Not your lifetime. If it snaps it,s life is ended, maybe the engines as well. But the tensioners are rather important..... Which Dealership or was it Skoda UK or CZ, or customers services that said the cam belt is a 'Lifetime one.? Because that is not as their releases. The 5 year / 50,000 miles was only the UK which was a Money Maker for Dealers. the UK is not a Dust Rich country. The problem 2023 was the £750-£1,200 to do a 1.5 TSI and owners not doing it and trading ion cars & dealers did not want to do it to sell with FMDSH yet not serviced to schedule or recommendations.
  4. Good to say it is a 2022 RS. So TSI or TDI, manual or automatic? Getting it on a ramp and inspected would be a good idea.
  5. The water pump is not required to be changed at the time of the Cam belt. As of 2023 Skoda / VW stopped showing or advising, recommending or scheduling the Cam Belt replacement at 5 years / 50,000 miles. They made it an After many miles or years thing. So many many threads on the subject in the near 3 years since things changed. Should you change it is totally up to you since 8 years old. But first you maybe want to check how much that is going to cost you...
  6. Is this a Fabia Mk2? If so worth saying. A mod can move your post to that section.
  7. Putting @AGFalco will me he might get a notification.
  8. 5 e-bike batteries kept cozy in the house and charged at 75-80%. They have not been used for over 2 years sadly.
  9. Well they build the cars and batteries & tech, and software and some is total crap. Lets say VW Group, and sell them and as it is some are really inefficient. I treat my E-bike batteries very different from EV batteries. Places to go, people to see and even though all the time in the world life is to short for Supposed Experts & engineers or designers who might run Big Battery EV,s or maybe no EV. There are some Real World Drivers doing high miles, charging as fast or as full as they can and these are the ones that are worth looking at for experience. As to failures well lets think you have had disasters other than TESLA, that will be Porsche & Jaguar high up the list.
  10. Welcome. If it loses 1 litre in 1,000 km then that is twice what VW Group says Might be the oil consumption and they say that about every engine and have for 2 decades. No need to switch off Lane Assist or anything else if it behaves and suits your driving. Many that like to wonder out of lanes say they switch it off. Actually they are the ones that should probably keep it on. Re Steering to the Right or is that to the left in the UK. Car set up wrong, tyre run out wrong, people unaware of Tyre runout stripes when fitting them.
  11. ^^^Experts? Who are these experts? Industry experts or Vloggers, running really low is not good or storing with really low charge, BUT So much other Total crap, 30 or 40 even 50 kW battery and you need down to 10% or lower and get charging quick * if you need to 90 or 100 % then you charge to that. Even the slowing down too much above 80% and taking too long can be a nonsense. My small battery car can still be taking in 20 Kw at above 95%. PS, what sediment in ICE vehicle fuel tanks in 2026 in the UK? Filters in filling station tanks to outlets, in the pump and in the vehicles fuel tank. Are we talking old tanks with corrosion in them? As far as EV Experts, an actuall EV Technician doing high annual mikes knows quite a bit more than some random Influencer / Vlogger repeating what they hear or read from others. James & Kate.
  12. Simples. Have you not met any BEV drivers being towed into Charging hubs because they believed something they were told, or they get an escort after having had a boost to get them to the chargers. This because they read or watched on how far past Zero you can go? It happens regularly on the A90 and they arrive to get a charge in Forfar.
  13. Reserve can not be anymore predictable in a BEV than it is in an ICE. If you are going to drive hard when the ICE reserve light comes on and shows 60 miles it might just go 30 miles. Car dependent. An EV is going to keep on doing the miles per kW/h if you continue as you were when it is down to 10 or 5 percent. That 10 or 5 percent in colder weather or windy / wet etc is not the same as in the warmer weather and dry roads where conditions are giving better efficiency. Once you have a car it is simple enough to learn what ever it,s characteristics is. Just because someone in Norway gets whatever does not mean on UK roads a similar model will be the same. As to the running to 0% crap, just a total nonsense even if you have an EMERGENCY BATTERY POWER PACK with you,
  14. Do not stick close to a lorry though, in the eddy, back far enough to see both sides mirrors. A tall enough one to be where the power meter in the car can drop right down. Where if raining you still do not need wipers on. Just maybe do not do it in Scotland where it might be a high value load in the dark. (Alcohol.) they might just call the police thinking they are being followed for a highjacking. When you are just trying to get home without a charging stop. Happened twice to me on the A96 and A90, Aberdeenshire late night time. PS, Megabus and Citylink Coaches and Ember EV ones are good enough on the 70 mph Average Speed Camera routes to tail. Quite an energy saver getting behind one of those. On the West Coast McBurney HGV,s through 60 mph Average speed camera stretches. Amazing how the Posted Passenger car speed limits and irrelevant to the speeds they can carry.
  15. e-208 @ a good price. Just people need to be aware even though the improved battery capacity still only 48.1 kW usable (previously 46.3) and the 7.6 kW AC max charge speed not 11 kW. Maybe not an issue for many. Stellantis issue still as far as suspension, drop links and crap brake components.
  16. @Graham Butcher 2011- 2025, Millions of public money squandered on Contractors poor performance. That is one way to look at things. But that Is Charge Place Scotland chargers from the 32 Councils and the likes of SEPA. That system is being done away with and SWARCO running the back shop and having the Maintenance Service is the largest area of Scotland. SWARCO will be doing Contracts, but under much closer Scrutiny. So as far as being Stranded without chargers. COMMERCIAL CHARGERS & Providers are providing RAPID & Ultra RAPID chargers, reliable and with Call Handlers that are efficient unlike SWARCO,s call handlers for Charge Place Scotland. I hardly use them because i am tight, do not have subscription so go for Cheaper Charging. But until you plug in you do not know if running instead of at maybe 45 kW they are at 12 or 26 kW with a 40 or 60 min max charging time and a £2 or £5 minimum charge. Or a higher tariff on the 1st kWh. So now for trunk route travel and some more off trunk routes there is TESLA (cheap) Ionity, MFG, Osprey, Arnold Clark, Porsche etc etc. As to Slow known as Fast AC chargers, all around the Scottish Mainland.
  17. Is that a Diesel? What gearbox? Best be sure the car is all welI first, serviced, new plugs if a petrol, air filter, running on E5 99 ron super unleaded. looked at your location since you did not say. APR, REVO, and local tuners to you are going to be the 'simply clever' people to use. With a Dyno is a good idea, to know what they actually give you extra with their Remapping. If you get 200 bhp i doubt you will see a Golf with 220 bhp, or 300bhp plus disappear in your rear view mirror.
  18. Perth & Kinross & Angus Council seem a bit behind in migrating away from Charge Place Scotland and SWARCO as their maintenance contractor. New chargers are coming, just not as fast as Commercial locations are getting on with things. Several locations do seem to have planning delays though.
  19. So councils / local authorities and particularly in England might be dragging their heals. There are towns and cities that are nor welcoming in passenger cars and parking might be expensive. Hence Park & Rides. There is supposedly a drive to Net Zero and Decarbonising. So the Tories played at it & Westminster played at it and had a morutorium on Wind Turbine in England. There will always be those that are unwilling to change there habits and think driving is the only way. Personally i have been on a bus twice in the past 30 years and never on a train. Been on Trams though and parked and rode. Trams were damn expensive... Even with a Blue Badge parking in Edinburgh City Centre can be very difficult to get.
  20. Maybe once a week is enough public charging for some. Or a few hours several times a week on AC charging. During their working day, over night or while out and about. There is Subscriptions & Charging tariffs and under 50 pence a kWh. Porsche was 33 pence a kWh a year back. Then Location location and different strokes for different folks. So if you know what is what, there are thousands using Car parks, Multi-Storey Car parks and chargers, Park & Rides around the UK. Free parking maybe 5 days a week and up to 12 hours charging, maybe plugged in for 9 hours at 40 pence a kWh. 7 or 11 kW chargers. Say 60 kWh charged, £24.00. 60 x 3.5 miles is 210 miles. So they have a EV that might be the same cost or less than an Ice. £6,000 to £15,000 & if an ICE getting 45 mpg & £7 a gallon that is £32. Park & rides AC charging can be 32 pence a kWh. 60 x 32 = £19.20.
  21. Maybe my bad. Were they maybe not available in the UK?
  22. Yes there were Mk3 Octavia vRS TSI 4x4,s. Not in big numbers.
  23. Worth a look for these threads.
