  1. It means Extended Service Intervals. So Variable / Flexible from the factory. Tell the supplying Dealership you want it reset (gets done at the PDI) to Fixed Service Regime Intervals. 9,400 miles 372 days and not 24 months ,18000-20,000, If you want an extended warranty be sure to get that before the car is First Registered. PS. Or you can always just get your servicing Annually if that is what you want.
  2. Welcome to the forum @brandonthomas
  3. @Hozz Who told you a salesperson or some communication from the Dealership?
  4. PS @prosist If the cars service Indicator was not telling you Oil Service or Inspection service as the car did towards 9,400 miles or getting towards 372 days since last serviced or service indicator reset then you are not set for a Fixed Regime. What does the Service indicator show now until Oil Service due? Do not use 5w 40 FS oil to service your TDI.
  5. ^^^^ Not 2 Grades of oil for fixed or Variable. Because it is a TDI,......... So long life is used. Fixed or Variable. VW 504 00 / 507 00. 5w 30 FS III. A TSI might use VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS for Fixed & VW 504 00 / 507 00 for Variable.
  6. Re Breakdown Cover. I have Insurance Policies with Admiral Multi Car. An EV and i have Platinum Breakdown Cover. A Petrol Auto with just Gold Cover because a Bank account covers it with the RAC. So i insured my Diesel Auto but it counts under Van Insurance. I added it online, good price. I thought i best call and get Van Breakdown Cover. So while waiting for them opening i tried RAC, AA & Green flag for quotes. RAC National UK Cover £100. AA £130 & that is who Admiral Breakdown have. Green Flag said they are 50% less than the big 2. They were £120. Got Admiral this Morning, National Cover UK starting next week. £30.64 & that is with the AA & same T&C,s as AA that quoted £130 online.
  7. No need to be worried, the Flexible / Variable Oil Service regime is 24 months 18,000-20,000 miles or sooner. Only if on fixed is it 9,400 miles / 372 miles or sooner.
  8. @lol-lol Eon Next Power-up again tomorrow but from 1pm-3pm. 30 pence being credited per extra kWh used. Today was 2pm-4pm. I see Plunge pricing with Osprey again but only 15%.
  9. Gas price for huge commercial greenhouses in the UK is a real issue now. Just as well there are ones using solar & offpeak electric storage.
  10. @Graham Butcher I never watched that yet. Coincidence. 2 diesels now and a petrol. 1 is going. VED went up to £360 in April from £200 so the Dealer paid half of 6 months. I will change when i put my own Reg on it to 'Disabled' VED.
  11. So as not to be mistaken as a vegan, green, EV evangelist i went and bought a dirty diesel. It will see me sorted for a few years hopefull. Noisy at tick over and very comfortable and smooth driving. Well equipped.
  12. Welcome to the forum. There have been a few with issues. ............
  13. The Daily Mail can always find space for anything Anti EV. ............................Today Power up was 25 pence a kWh credited for extra used during the 2 hours, tomorrow 30 pence. Free charging & pretty good for those with Home chargers. I just get 5 kWh extra in 2 hours on a 3 pin lead.
  14. Welcome. A 2.0 TDI with a 6 speed wet clutch DSG might be a better buy than a 1.6TDI with a 7 Speed Dry Clutch DSG.
  15. News seems rather quiet on BEV fires in the UK. Still waiting after that linked article recently to hear how many of those deaths recorded in road accidents were because of BEV,s going on fire.
  16. @Steve61 The DSG is possibly not relevant to your noise, if it had Haldex AWD could have been. Your DSG service for oil & filter is probably a 80,000 mile service item. (Not the engine.) But many have it done sooner with a DQ381 DSG.
  17. Judge Judy decided on a repeat yesterday in exact same situation the Merc driver. In your case i would say the same.
  18. It is a wet clutch DSG so a 7 speed DQ381 likely. I assume Front Wheel Drive only, is that right?, not AWD. Has the DSG had a Oil & Filter service?
  19. I can not forsee me being here to see such a thing or you. & really could not care less as to what happens when i have gone. Still waiting to personally see a BEV on fire or burnt out at a road side.
  20. If ICE vehicles were banned the UK really would grind to a halt, or much of it would. But ICE vehicles are not being banned, just First Registrations at some point. So maybe many of the 40 million or so vehicles or however many there are in what ever year will just have to keep on providing the vehicles for drivers wanting to use Petrol or Diesel.
  21. @southy007 @Lythamjohn has not logged in for over 2 years.
  22. ID Polo unveiling tomorrow. Sub £22,000. Only 5 years from the teasing is not bad for VW Group. This will surely be a fault / snag free vehicle from day 1 of deliveries... Das Auto.
  23. @Steve61 What engine has the car, size and petrol or diesel and what DSG has it?
  24. Nobody is mandating scrapping the millions of Historic Vehicles in the UK are they? All these classics and collector vehicles and everyday running vehicle. Energy really is an issue for England & Westminster as far as generating & importing enough electricity and transmitting it to homes and business. It really is not a UK wide issue other than the National Grid being Not fit for purpose. Other issues as far as Public charging and charging at home are well known. High time the growing weight of Passenger cars and width was dealt with regardless of BEV or Ice Vehicles because there are lots of very heavy 5-7 seaters out on the roads. Extracting from the North Sea makes no difference because the UK does not own the oil that comes out, and will not be refining it, and if they were then still that products are not owned by the UK.
  25. So was the Pollen filter changed in October? Has the brake fluid been replaced anytime? Interim / Minor & Major services were a thing of the past. Skoda UK went to Oil & Inspection Service & Extended scope at 3 years then each 2 years in 2019/20. Spark Plugs were at Major Services on the 2nd one years back. They should still be at 4 years / 40,000 miles, but only if the owners asks and pays and Spark Plugs at Main Dealers Services are a ridiculous price. They have air filters at 60,000 ,miles / 6 years which is nuts. They should be inspected annually, or at a service.
