Massive Windfarms off the Scottish Coast or on land are not generating electricity because there is not the grid capacity or storage facilities or facilities to use to produce hydrogen. & there is no plans that will be implemented in the next year or 3 that will be changing this situation. Over capacity and lack of infrastracture. So Real world not Fiction / UK government / GB Energy world. Pylons being blocked, Substations Blocked and Interconnectors being laid and Land Fall sites being blocked.

Funnily there are many many posts and threads on Briskoda where members engines are consuming lots of oil and not just 1.5 TSI ACT,s. (Several last week.) But then they might leave the oil check until there is a Low Oil warning light or message or even a low oil pressure light. Not checking where the Oil is when cold & the car is delivered as new or after a service & then checking as you should at Normal Operating temperature to see if they show at the same mark is simply not 'Simply Clever'. If there was a check when Cold regime for VW Group engines then VW Group should say so and show in the Owners Manual. With a Mk2 Fabia vRS with only 3.6 litres engine oil capacity there were some Oil Filters that trapped in 0.5 litres oil in it. So the crappy dip stick and not knowing that had plenty thinking the oil was low. Also the oil could be 1.3 litres low and no warning light. 1.3 litres low with a 3.6 litre oil capacity. We as in me and others put in 3.9 litres and used a Mahle oil filter not a VAG one. With euro 5 1.2 TSI,s there were plenty dealerships that never put in the correct capacity of oil when there was a change to the capacities. Level not checked correctly by the tech or fitter after they put in the measured quantity.

@richard1991 John Clark group are clearly 'from £799'. You do not get a 1.5 TSI ACT done for that with it,s 6.5 hours of Labour and you might or might not get a 2.0 TDI cambelt and water pump. it is POA.

Video is not as per VW Group / Skoda. You get a different level showing Stone Cold (Always know where it is cold which you need before setting off.) or at Normal operating Temperature, not just Warm & after a few minutes. Oil Filter as used by VW since 2012. Either up top or lower. Easy, try Cold you can do that every time. If you just serviced it and know how much is in then great. Then compare as VW says on every engine other than a 44kW 1.2 with only 2.8 litre capacity. Check Cold. Far far too many Skoda,s have low oil levels right from the PDI & hand over or from a Service at Skoda Main Dealers. Yes check it when collecting the car and the engine not started and when you get home and hot. See if the levels show identically and as correct.

IMO Think yourself lucky you have a Skoda vehicle that still has a dipstick

You are dealing with people on a keyboard that can be anyplace and who know nothing about cars / Skoda's. Even Communication / Resolution Managers might have more experience of selling shoes / trainers or serving fast food than motorised vehicles.

Are you checking it both ways, stone cold before the engine is started to see plenty oil, & as required at Normal Operating Temperature after stopped a few minutes, so 4 or 5 and when the oil is at an indicated 90*oC or so? You can wipe the dipstick and then maybe a very light dusting if talc powder on the dipstick. I used to use french chalk on difficult dip sticks. Only a Tiny amount.

Right time is maybe before or during winter not after it, unless you need it through the winter.

There is no DPF. it is a 2013 1.8 TSI.

. @reedy10 Welcome to the forum. I am pretty deaf but it sounds pretty rubbish. Have you seen and read the Pinned thread on the 1.8TSI & 2.0TSI,s at the top of the Octavia Mk2 Forum? Maybe this engine has had work done, or maybe it could be an excessive oil drinker. 1.8TSI,s are a lottery. 76 pages of many horrors. Any record showing spark plugs changed any time recently, or air filter?

My new AT,s are going on early ready for this years snowmaggedon. While the price is right.

@Graham Butcher I would not want some of the early EV crap. Point just is there was an EV generation before Tesla. C1,s were converted to EV,s. Point is that doing Google searches is all good and well, but all this stuff is mentioned again and again and is still in many people's minds without a google. Hoorah on the Recall of vehicles with hidden door handles. Unlikely the EU or UK authorities will be requiring the same from manufacturers. But they are going to have to design cars differently.

Instead of additives maybe just try using HVO. EvoUltra from a Gulf filling station if you are near one or passing near one.

^^^ Yes i read it. Last night in motoring news. It is not only going to be only EV,s being recalled by manufacturers'. Tesla are quicker off the mark doing 'Their Recall'.

New regulations were coming in anyway that Vehicles had to have manual door handles. Discussed on here previously.

What engine has it? It should be much the same as the 1st Service but with a Pollen Filter extra. Oil & Inspection Service. Unless you are having the Brake Fluid Changed, or the AC serviced. But a dealership might try ripping you off. But the spark plugs are not getting changed or the air filter.

A recall is what is required. A very obvious manufacturing fault. Like with VW Group fuel rail bolts. These are not checked at dealership servicing. Safety critical but VW do not seem to think so, or do the DVSA. A warranty longer than 3 years is what a EQC owner needs, or and BEV owner keeping them out of the manufacturers warranty. But in other countries there might be court actions or the Lemon Law.

@Graham Butcher what do you think that makes that video anything to do with servicing? It is a design, manufacturing or material fault. Servicing of an EV motor is not going to involve opening a motor like that. There is servicing of parts as with an ICE vehicle. But tell me more than cam belts or changing water pumps has you into an engine in 100,000 km these days?

@Cqrmine what engine have you! Regardless of which and which DSG it should be into D7 by 50 mph if just poodling along.
