MOT Advisory for all 4 tyres
Me too this year. Cracks on the sidewalls of my Vredestein Quatrac 5. 4 years old. I got new tyres as the tread depth on the front was getting low.

Yeti won't start - "Depress Clutch" message.
I use two microwaveable dryer packs to reduce condensation. A long run with the air con on will help. Having climate control helps. All modern manual cars require the clutch pedal to be depressed before they will start. Easy to forget if you don't drive it much. If my better half tells me her car won't start, the first step is to "press the clutch pedal". Hope this works.

EFB or AGM Battery ?
The replacement battery, under warranty, was EFB btw.

Wheel Hopping- Not Wheel Spin?
I'm now on Vredestein Quatrac rather than my previous Quatrac 5. They're the latest version apparently. Excellent in icy and snowy conditions and water logged roads . But still getting skittering wheel spin on demand in damp conditions. Recommended.

EFB or AGM Battery ?
Thanks for your explanation. I'll keep an eye on the voltage. Makes it a lot cheaper if it's an EFB type. Halfords seem to be competitive on price, if they code it in. Otherwise it'll be be my local independent garage.

Can i just get winter tyres fitted to my mk3 vrs estates alloys? Rather than also having to buy wheels as well( for only a couple of months)
I like Vredestein Quatrac all seasons tyres. Very secure in the recent snow and ice in Derbyshire. Also fitted them to my wife's Kia Picanto ditto .

EFB or AGM Battery ?
The replaced under warranty (in 2019) battery is showing signs of lower voltage in local use. Car 1.4TSI still starts ok. The Stop/Start system only works after a run of 20 miles or so. If I need to replace the battery, is the correct specification EFB or AGM? Sorry for not posting recently, my car has been wonderfully boring and reliable. Now on a fresh set of Vredestein Quatrac.

Reliable 2016 Octavia 1.4TSI Combi Hiccup
- 40,000 miles and 5 year old 1.4Tsi 150 hpp
I was going to take it to a local garage for the service ,unless the belt change was a must. So an inspection only pro tem and a belt change when? Thanks.- Leather steering wheel cleaning
I used Autoglym leather cleaner successfully when I got hand cream on my steering wheel.- How do all-season tyres perform in the summer
Still got the same Vredesteins and am very happy with them in all weathers.- 40,000 miles and 5 year old 1.4Tsi 150 hpp
Just thinking about getting a service done in October. Will the cam belt need replaced? And any associated components? I intend to ask for an air cleaner and pollen filter change. Thanks- Muc Off
I put my car though a soft automatic car wash. The small spatters of bird poo remained. Sprayed the car with Muc Off motorcycle cleaner panel by panel and rubbed with a large and soft paint brush. Hosed off panel by panel. Clean now and no new scratches. My car care standards are quite low. No damage or rust.- Fold Passenger Seat Forward
On mine, it's to raise or lower the seat. Alternatively, ask Granny Weatherwax.- rear wash wipe
I use my rear and front washers regularly to mitigate this. I use at least 25% screenwash concentrate all year round. The MK2 Octavia was also known to fill the boot with fluid if a pipe joint sprang . I adopted the same methodology.- Tyres
Probably best to move this thread to the tyre forum. I've got hearing aids and they are not attuned to tyre noise. Noise is noise inside or outside. A Standard test. How many potential combinations are there in each model range? Oh, we'll take a thousand Mercedes variants with say 100 tyre types and brands. Gies a break Jimmy.- Another surprise message
I'd that. Only once after I'd driven only 1.5 hrs.- Another surprise message
Today I'd a poorly passenger who insisted on having a window open a little bit. Not enough to boom or annoy me. A message about aerodynamic drag popped up. WTF? Nearly drove off the road. How do all those people who "must" have plastic wind deflectors cope with the nagging.- How do I change rear seat belts?
The local RSPCA might help with your dog. The one and only seat belt I'd replaced was done by a pro and iirc £120 ish.- Sticky Accelerator Pedal 68 Plate Octavia
Yup, it's normal on my manual 1.4Tsi. I usually drive in ECO mode and if I wish some extra oomph, I floor it past the click. Can only actually remember doing that once uphill on the A6 Taddington bypass.- Wheel centre caps
I'm on my 3rd set. The pressed aluminium caps (green badge) corroded badly in only one year, so back to a black and chrome set from China. The cheapest I could find on eBay at £6.99. Given them a couple of coats of clear stuff first.- Phone holder between seats
My Honor10 phone is mounted on a middle vent on the fascia with YOSH magnets. I opened up the GSM holder slot and could fit there ok. But I tend to use it as my satnav via Waze.- Four Leafed Clover Marking
Thanks Falco. Not very meaningful though- regarding spring. On a drive today in the Pennines we saw lambs, sun, rain and snow. No leprechauns with 4 leafed clovers though.- Four Leafed Clover Marking
Need to keep sport mode on and then stand by for terminal rust.- Four Leafed Clover Marking
A season which has not got rain, snow or sunshine? - 40,000 miles and 5 year old 1.4Tsi 150 hpp
