  1. Take a look in the Octavia 4 forum, and you'll see several owners have reported problems with Front Assist.
  2. AFAIK only on some Audi RS models is ESP off an option - on the Octavia 3 the options are ESP On & ESP Sport, usually by changing the value in byte 29 of the ABS coding Controller 03 - ABS 07 - Coding Byte 29 02 – Stock (for non-vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF 09 – Stock (for vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF / ESC SPORT
  3. Not gat a photo of my actual one, but I'm ashamed to admit my first student car was a white Renault 6 like this one! It lasted 2 months before ending up upside down in a ditch...
  4. Sadly that lack of product knowledge seems far too common amongst Skoda dealers 😬
  5. From living nearby I can from personal experience say that the priority for the next hub should be Taunton Deane - that gets busiest of all the M5 MSA in the West Country as people seem to like to get well past Bristol before stopping.
  6. Because Skoda didn't move the bonnet lever on RHD cars - on a LHD car that door can be opened using the emergency key and you can open the bonnet to charge the battery, but on RHD cars it's the other door that you open with the emergency key.
  7. Sounds like it hadn't disabled the motion sensor?
  8. I had it several times, usually when the motorway was busy and the sat nav thought it might be quicker to come off the motorway and straight back on - I doubt it ever would have been!
  9. If you look at the Octavia 4 forum there are many people who have been waiting more than 12 months, and some who have been told to expect to wait more than 18 months - so I would treat 12 months with some considerable scepticism.
  10. Worth sharing the scan with the experts here even if there are no battery related codes - there could be other issues that are having a bad effect.
  11. I suspect you're going to have to do a fault code scan with OBD11, VCDS or similar to get more information on the cause.
  12. Petrol or diesel, the vRS is available as either a TSI or TDI and both are 2 litre.
  13. I admire your confidence in Halfords, but don't share it - from personal experience over many years combined with posts on multiple car forums the competence of Halfords can be at best sketchy, so they're not a supplier I'd trust to do any work on cars of mine, parts yes but work no for me.
  14. When the aircon is recharged it normally includes as well as the gas a small amount of lubricant and (crucially here) an ultra-violet dye. Using a suitable ultra-violet lamp the location of leaks can be seen, allowing them to be fixed.
  15. Worth noting that if you buy used and the previous owner has registered with Ross-Tech before you can register for support they need to confirm that they have sold the cable (i.e. it hasn't been stolen) and you have to pay $99 to transfer ownership (and support).
  16. In 2015 I was testing a new design of a variable frequency SMPS in the lab with it running at 10kHz which I, as a 60 year old, couldn't hear but when my 40 year old boss walked into the lab the first thing he said was "can't you hear that"? In a recent hearing test my hearing was more sensitive than 'normal' up to 8kHz but dropped off rapidly above that.
  17. If you want to retain OE units then you'll need a MIB2 main unit (in the glove box) and screen. You don't say if you have an Amundsen or Columbus at present?
  18. Bouncing normally suggests shocks as their job is to damp down vertical motion. Have you tried the 'corner test' where you push down on each corner and see if the car does more than just one small rebound?
  19. Looking at the Octavia 4 forum it seems delivery delays are very model, spec and country dependent - some who ordered in 2021 being quoted deliveries in 2023! Not just due to chip shortages but also a fire in a factory suppling Octavia trim parts and some parts usually coming from Ukraine or Russia.
  20. The legal requirement for a speedo is that it must not underread and can overread by up to 10%. Practically this means that manufacturers setup their speedos to overread by around 5%, to allow for variations in tyre sizes and reduction in diameter as tyres wear. This overread translates to an overread in distance also.
  21. Is this a hybrid? Other owners have reported problem with the 12V battery not being charged properly on hybrid Octavias and a software update being needed at the delaer.
  22. I'm pretty sure I've seen on the Ross-Tech forums that Gendan offer upgrades so worth contacting them first to avoid import delays/costs from the US.
