Given that some members are still driving loan cars whilst Skoda try to develop/write/test software fixes it appears they don't actually have software/firmware updates available yet.

I did the same on my 1.4 Octavia 3, and also got a Skoda bonnet badge to fit on the cover as I didn't like the VW badge being visible when I opened the bonnet.

But posting infotainment versions gives an incorrect impression that this gives a complete picture of the software version(s) of the car - at least that's how I'm reading the majority of posts in this forum? What's better? - incomplete and possibly misleading information or no information? It could be argued that no information is better than misleading information based solely on infotainment version numbers?

It can so long as you have either a HEX-V2 or HEX-NET and run the latest version of VCDS (which is free to download). Posts on the public part of the Ross-Tech forum exist of the Golf 8 - which is basically the same car (and there are many more posts in the non-public section, but I can't say any more than that due to a non-disclosure agreement).

I would suggest you ask on the Ross-Tech forum, they will ask for a full VCDS Auto-Scan and I would suggest you also post an adaptation channel map so they can see what adaptation channels exist in the engine ECU you have - not all engine ECUs have the same adjustments possible.

My impression is that you are in the minority in understanding that. Many driver and system updates are applied to Windows without the version displayed in the system info screen changing - the same applies to cars. What it means is that showing the infotainment software version is not a useful indicator of updates done by a dealer to the other systems - so isn't actually useful when comparing faults and fixes between different cars. Hence why I suggested that a VCDS or OBDEleven scan is actually what is needed to be able to see what the software state is of the car.

The engine ECU for the CAYC will be running different software, so those old tweaks are unlikely to exist in the new software - those instructions use adaptation channel numbers, if the CAYC engine ECU uses the UDS protocol then adaptation channels will have names not numbers.

Something has been puzzling/worrying me about the infotainment screenshots showing software versions in this thread .... Isn't this just the software version of the infotainment NOT the other modules in the car? If that's true, which I am 99% certain it is, then that would explain why some dealer software updates don't change the version shown on the infotainment screen - because it is OTHER modules (engine, ABS, etc.) that has been updated. The only way to know what has really been updated after a dealer software update is a before and after scan of all the modules in the car using e.g. VCDS, OBDEleven, etc.

Provided it's a MIB2 Amundsen (2016 model year onwards) twice yearly free updates will be downloadable from both the Skoda portal and the VW Infotainment website for several years. Updates for the MIB1 Amundsen appear to have ceased with the 2020/21 update.

When I was working for a chip manufacturer over 15 years ago the cost of a new fab even than for older processes was in excess of $5bn, and after being built it was taking several months to get the clean rooms actually clean enough after all the building work.

That as well as the other reasons I posted means the chip manufacturers don't expect to catch up with demand until late 2022 - which is why President Biden recently held a meeting at the White House to discuss ways of building more chip fabs in the US (trouble is they take years to build at a cost of several billion dollars each so that won't be a short term solution).

Sounds like there may be a problem with the flap that diverts air through the aircon condenser - a fault code scan will show what the HVAC is complaining about.

I've looked every week on both the Skoda and VW update sites - and can confirm that there is no update since P94. But Audi are quoting a part number for an updated map suitable for the MIB1 Amundsen - but it's chargeable and expensive. Maybe it's a 5 year limit for VW & Skoda but not for Audi?

On Google maps you can download maps when on WiFi for offline use when in the car, then the only data usage is for traffic info - which is much less than downloading maps.

If it's factory fitted they use tinted glass not an added film.

No point on VAG vehicles as the ECU software ignores the accelerator input if the brake pedal is pressed. Why would you? I'm going back a few years (35+) to when I had a Renault 5 GT Turbo, if when approaching a corner I left foot braked while keeping my foot on the accelerator it kept the turbo spooled up so when I came off the brake pedal at the apex there was already turbo boost present so there was no lag and the corner exit was noticeably quicker.

Is it just another example of coincidence being mistaken for cause and effect?

Cruise control is SwaP (Software as a Product) which needs a FEC (Feature Enable Code) to work - and those are VIN specific and can only be generated by workshops with online access to the Skoda servers.

The lights on the 5E Octavia are controlled by a large number of adaptation channels in the BCM known as the "leuchte" channels - in one of them that relates to the right rear light that is on with ignition you will find the problem. BTW Ross-Tech do offer help for people using VCDS-Lite, so it's definitely worth posting a full Auto-Scan on their forum and asking for help.

Could also mean the connection to the pump is open circuit, so check the connectors and wiring first.
