  1. A 2021 Octavia will be an Octavia 4, better asking in the correct forum https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/396-skoda-octavia-mk-iv-2020/
  2. Second both of those - underneath the variofloor we keep all the shopping bags, emergency lights, etc. so the actual boot space is clear and ready for bags of mortar, compost, etc.
  3. Over the last 5 years we've never managed less than 45mpg and usually get 55mpg from our 2015 1.4TSI Elegance estate.
  4. That's where I was thinking but never having used Mirrorlink or Android Auto I didn't want to, in my ignorance, suggest a Mirrorlink incompatibility.
  5. USB sockets provide 5V, which is what dashcams need when connected via USB (the 12V adapters actually output 5V).
  6. That part number is a Bolero - all the links I can find suggest it's a MIB1, so I'm puzzled that Android Auto worked with a previous phone? Maybe others can clarify please?
  7. Early 2015 cars have MIB1 systems that don't support CarPlay or Android Auto, maybe that's the problem? Please post the part number of your system as that will tell exactly what you have in your car. My Octavia was an April 2015 build so has a MIB1 meaning I can't use CarPlay (I have an iPhone 11 Pro).
  8. I doubt it - software development has moved away from "Chinese Wall" testing (an independent test team) to test scripts written by the developers themselves (so with the same wrong assumptions) and to development methods like Agile that do piecemeal changes without taking into account the final end goal.
  9. Some insurers do, some don't - best to check with your insurer.
  10. ... and without having a clutch actuator (and probably a gear selector mechanism too as the car might have come to a halt in a high gear) there's no way it can achieve that.
  11. That quote doesn't say anything about bringing the vehicle to a halt; it only mentions pulling away, braking and turning - seems very misleading and confused to me...
  12. Might be worth asking in the Superb III forum?
  13. ... when the grockles don't clog up the roads driving at 40mph
  14. Second that - which is why even when I had an Audi RS4 I kept my Citroen C1. Totally different driving experiences but just as involving, the C1 got driven at ten tenths whenever possible and always made me smile but the RS4 usually got driven at less than five tenths.
  15. Just a normal VCDS Auto-Scan - take along a memory stick and ask them to save the .txt file that VCDS auto-saves as you'll probably be asked to share that if/when asking for help.
  16. I've done that - twice - and don't have a bricked MIB. As you say it all depends on the quality of the cards you buy, over the years I've had as more full size SD cards fail than micro-SD cards so I know only buy known brands. Cost more but I only need to buy them once.
  17. Find someone local to you who has VCDS and can do a fault code scan - then you'll know what the problem is rather than keep throwing parts at it. See List of VCDS Owners and VCDS Owners map
  18. I've been using a micro SD and adapter for the last 5 years with no problems.
  19. The map data has many (hundreds, thousands maybe) of very small files which always use the "cluster size" on the SD card even if they are only e.g. 1 byte long - so you can delay when the map data won't fit onto a 32GB SD card by manually selecting the smallest cluster size (I use 4K) when quick formatting it.
  20. After restoring the factory coding and WITHOUT DISCONNECTING the diagnostic lead OR closing the connection to the ABS controller you need to complete the calibration of the steering angle sensor (G85?) - usually this is done by turning the steering wheel one way then the other.
  21. Much of that difference is down to how the size of disks, USB sticks, SD cards, etc. is specified. On an HDD, USB stick or SD card 32GB means 32,000,000,000 bytes; but when Windows reports the formatted size as 29.7GB it means 29.7*1024*1024*1024 = 31,890,132,172 bytes (the difference being the space taken up by the format information).
  22. That's another bug that has been commented on several times in this forum, it also means that at night the headlamps dip into oncoming traffic!
  23. IIRC @SashaGrace has used the CarPlay2Air.
  24. I guess it might depend on what length drives you normally do, only short drives tend to be bad for the DPF on the diesels leading to them having problem regenerating unless you regularly (say weekly) do a long enough drive for a DPF regen to happen.
