  1. That affected the early Octavia 3's too - until a new door seal design was introduced. I'm shocked that Skoda have repeated the same design fault with the Octavia 4
  2. All that needs to be done when replacing the battery like-for-like is to change one value - the stored battery serial number, that's it. Anyone competent with a diagnostic tool can do it in less than 5 minutes.
  3. At least with a hard wired switch there is still that option, but where it's a soft switch on the HVAC screen (like on the Octavia 4) there's no way to disable/remember stop/start.
  4. It took 5 YEARS for some changes I reported to make their way onto maps, so don't hold your breath for them to be corrected anytime soon. ... why I also use a separate GPRS updated speed camera warning device (except when in France).
  5. It can't - from maybe 2018 model year onwards (maybe even some 2017 MY cars) as VAG have made the previously known tweaks no longer work and nobody has found tweaks that do work.
  6. Had to sell the Audi RS4 that I owned from new and loved in 2006 when I retired in 2016, I'd wanted a real V8 ever since I was a nipper so it was a real struggle. Why did I have to sell? Couldn't afford the running and maintenance (tyres and servicing) costs on the meagre pension I was on then. Only really loved one other car I've owned - a Brodie Brittan Racing tweaked Renault 5GT Turbo which weighed less than an empty baked bean can but with 180bhp (when tweaked) it challenged (brown stuff) falling off a shovel!
  7. ... unless memory electric seats are fitted and the mirror with the position feedback signals is fitted (13 pin vs. 8 pin).
  8. As well as the PS4 Sport there are PS4 Super Sport in some sizes.
  9. Small items (like interior bulbs) that can be sent by Royal Mail are fine from Kopacek, it's only large or heavy items that have to be sent by courier that are a problem post-Brexit.
  10. I'd bet it's a HEX-CAN - which isn't suitable for 2019 models onwards because of the many changes that VAG have made.
  11. GPS position accuracy depends on how many satellites it is receiving and able to decode - and how fast you are driving as it's only updated maybe once a second. Based on having car sat navs for 15+ years I would say 50m sounds not unusual when reception conditions are poor (thick cloud, heavy rain, etc.) or you are driving at say 60mph or more.

  13. What cable type is it? A 2019 Octavia need either a HEX-V2 or HEX-NET cable because VAG (Skoda) have changed so many of the modules in the car to use CAN bus messages that the older HEX-CAN type leads cannot handle (no more room for firmware updates) - hence the error message on your 2019 Octavia but the lead working fine on your BIL 2016 Ibiza.
  14. Bizarre, but it seems that's correct - it's a revenue earning opportunity for dealers!
  15. Don't several of the engines in the Octavia 3 have a water-to-air intercooler? - the 1.4TSi and 1.5TSI do, I believe the other petrol engines do but don't know about the diesel engines.
  16. I think the bonnet mat was only fitted to diesels, I had to add it to my 1.4TSI.
  17. Not a helpful reply when going to Spain or Portugal - which also use CET
  18. I have ACC on my 1.4 manual Octavia and I have to say it is brilliant, I use it much of the time not only on motorways and dual carriageways but it is a real benefit on the A361 North Devon link road as the traffic speed varies between 40 and 65mph which the ACC handles seamlessly. Given the choice I would always spec ACC now.
  19. Correct, that screen only shows the version of the infotainment system not the software versions of any of the other modules in the car - of which there are many (30 or more in scans on the Ross-Tech website).
  20. It's not a good reason but the reason is dieselgate - VAG have got scared of anything that can permanently change emissions so from around 2019 onward they've made all settings that they think can change emissions return to their default on every startup.
  21. Many have looked, none have found a method yet... Yes, even the later Mk3 Octavia cannot have stop/start disabled.
  22. Skoda (actually VAG) have disabled all the known tweaks that disabled stop/start - because of dieselgate and WLTP issues.
  23. Lada doesn't even get listed as a manufacturer on the Euro NCAP website
