  1. Let's do the simple maths - voltage from 'normal' 13A socket = 220V -10% +20% 13A @ 220V -10% (198V) = 2.57kW 13A @ 220V (nominal) = 2.86kW 13A @ 220V +20% (264V) = 3.43 kW So even if you are lucky enough to have the maximum voltage specified for a UK single phase supply you can only get 3.43kW - getting this maximum voltage is very unusual (the maximum I've ever seen in a domestic installation is 240V (the old pre-harmonised nominal voltage) which corresponds to 3.12kW.
  2. The IMEI is the serial number of the equipment (i.e. the MIB2) hence the E for Equipment. The serial number of the SIM card is the IMSI number hence the S for Subscriber.
  3. what3words navigation would be even more useful if it as CarPlay and Android Auto compatible. Its definitely not CarPlay compatible (doesn't appear in the 'Customize' list), not sure about Android Auto as I'm an iPhone user.
  4. Some stations transmit the logo and some don't.
  5. Do they mean 'open' or 'unlock'?
  6. When key battery needs replacing use a CR2032 (higher capacity, will last longer) which will fit even though it's 0.7mm thicker.
  7. Why I can never respect Michael Schumacher as a driver despite his obvious driving skill. There's no need for Verstappen to go down the same route...
  8. Maybe .... ease of servicing is the opposite of what the designers want? If servicing is more difficult the dealers can charge for longer service times? Cynical? Yes!!!
  9. Please explain in what way you can feel it's not going into sport mode?
  10. RBR need to look back at earlier yeas of F1 where the racing was far more 'intense' - and far better to watch - and stop acting like children IMHO. F1 is RACING not driving to the local supermarket!
  11. But did your previous Octavia have a DPF? You say it was a 2009 model, so the answer will be no. The addition of a DPF has fundamentally changed the suitability of a diesel for short journeys, basically it's not suitable as the DPF regen won't properly happen. Don't blame Skoda for fitting the DPF - it's a legal requirement under the increasingly severe emissions standards. So whether yoy agree, or like it, a DPF equipped diesel is NOT suitable for your driving pattern.
  12. Not so, LEDs have always been made from Gallium compounds not Germanium, the earliest LEDs were red and made from Gallium Phosphide but the later ones are more exotic Gallium compounds with different bandgaps to generate the different colours. The first LEDs I used were from Plessey Semiconductors based near Plymouth, this was in 1976.
  13. On Friday Google maps told me about the stationary traffic on the M5 near Taunton and routed me around it. Then on Saturday Google maps told me about the accident on the A34 and routed me round it.
  14. The clue is in the name - LED = Light Emitting Diode
  15. The issue with the MIB1 Amundsen from 2021 onwards is that Skoda (and VW) have stopped issuing map updates for them as they went out of production more than 5 years ago, so OP will be stuck with the 2020/21 maps with no updates available,
  16. As part of our (ongoing) divorce settlement my ex now has the Skoda Octavia III 1.4 TSI Elegance estate, so I won't be a regular visitor here any more - but I will 'lurk' occasionally. Not the first Skoda we have owned, before that we had a Fabia 1.2 from 2005-2016, and hopefully not the last for me.
  17. Since OP has a MIB1 Amundsen he won't have either CarPlay or Android Auto.
  18. @SashaGrace what calipers was it you fitted to your Octavia?
  19. Aren't pressure bleeding systems supposed to prevent air making it's way back up when a bleed nipple is opened - which is why they are usually recommended?
  20. Exterior 3 pin sockets (IP68 rated) are easily available which any competent electrician can fit.
  21. Here's what I've done for the last 5 years with no problems: - copy old map data from SD card to PC hard drive - fast format SD card (much quicker than deleting files) to FAT32 with 4K cluster size - copy new map data from PC to SD card - insert SD card into glovebox unit - drive using new maps.
  22. That sounds like the recirculation flap operating.
  23. Any professional car thief will simply park the car up in a container with the car battery disconnected until the backup battery on the tracker runs out.
  24. Your iPhone has to be connected by Bluetooth with the car for it to work, so if the car is moved without your phone in it then your iPhone cannot tell you where the car is.
