Change the key battery!
When key battery needs replacing use a CR2032 (higher capacity, will last longer) which will fit even though it's 0.7mm thicker.

2021 F1 Discussion
Why I can never respect Michael Schumacher as a driver despite his obvious driving skill. There's no need for Verstappen to go down the same route...

Ease of servicing
Maybe .... ease of servicing is the opposite of what the designers want? If servicing is more difficult the dealers can charge for longer service times? Cynical? Yes!!!

Drive mode
Please explain in what way you can feel it's not going into sport mode?

2021 F1 Discussion
RBR need to look back at earlier yeas of F1 where the racing was far more 'intense' - and far better to watch - and stop acting like children IMHO. F1 is RACING not driving to the local supermarket!

Fan staying on
But did your previous Octavia have a DPF? You say it was a 2009 model, so the answer will be no. The addition of a DPF has fundamentally changed the suitability of a diesel for short journeys, basically it's not suitable as the DPF regen won't properly happen. Don't blame Skoda for fitting the DPF - it's a legal requirement under the increasingly severe emissions standards. So whether yoy agree, or like it, a DPF equipped diesel is NOT suitable for your driving pattern.

Not so, LEDs have always been made from Gallium compounds not Germanium, the earliest LEDs were red and made from Gallium Phosphide but the later ones are more exotic Gallium compounds with different bandgaps to generate the different colours. The first LEDs I used were from Plessey Semiconductors based near Plymouth, this was in 1976.

Sat nav updates from eBay
On Friday Google maps told me about the stationary traffic on the M5 near Taunton and routed me around it. Then on Saturday Google maps told me about the accident on the A34 and routed me round it.

The clue is in the name - LED = Light Emitting Diode

Sat nav updates from eBay
The issue with the MIB1 Amundsen from 2021 onwards is that Skoda (and VW) have stopped issuing map updates for them as they went out of production more than 5 years ago, so OP will be stuck with the 2020/21 maps with no updates available,

No longer driving a Skoda
As part of our (ongoing) divorce settlement my ex now has the Skoda Octavia III 1.4 TSI Elegance estate, so I won't be a regular visitor here any more - but I will 'lurk' occasionally. Not the first Skoda we have owned, before that we had a Fabia 1.2 from 2005-2016, and hopefully not the last for me.

Sat nav updates from eBay
Since OP has a MIB1 Amundsen he won't have either CarPlay or Android Auto.

Aston Martin DB9 calipers
@SashaGrace what calipers was it you fitted to your Octavia?

Brake bleed order octavia 3 l@k
Aren't pressure bleeding systems supposed to prevent air making it's way back up when a bleed nipple is opened - which is why they are usually recommended?

Here's what I've done for the last 5 years with no problems: - copy old map data from SD card to PC hard drive - fast format SD card (much quicker than deleting files) to FAT32 with 4K cluster size - copy new map data from PC to SD card - insert SD card into glovebox unit - drive using new maps.

How to reset/calibrate air con flaps in MK 4?
That sounds like the recirculation flap operating.

Stolen: Race Blue Vrs Combi WA14YZU
Any professional car thief will simply park the car up in a container with the car battery disconnected until the backup battery on the tracker runs out.

Your iPhone has to be connected by Bluetooth with the car for it to work, so if the car is moved without your phone in it then your iPhone cannot tell you where the car is.

2021 F1 Discussion
Or Schumacher vs Hill? Great driver though he was I could never respect Schumacher for the number of times his driving was "questionable"? I hope Verstappen isn't going to behave the same way when under pressure as that for me will be a waste of his undoubted talent.

Octavia iV Estate - flat 12v battery
Since the 12V battery is required for things like door locks, vehicle lighting, etc. then if it isn't charged when the high voltage battery is charged that makes a mild hybrid totally useless for shorter journeys where the ICE never starts IMHO. I can't believe that VAG would make a silly design error like that? Surely....

Skoda Finance
Have you taken advantage of any of the Government Covid support packages? E.g. some lenders are not lending to self-employed who took up the loans/grants - not saying that applies here but just asking...

Dissapointed from Skoda and their customer support
There really is a shortage of semiconductors (car makers cancelled orders in 2020 and semiconductor manufacturers cannot keep up with demand because orders for tablets, phone, PCs etc. have gone up enormously so the fabs are working at full capacity so the car makers just have to take their place in the queue). VAG always give priority to VW & Audi over Skoda & SEAT - so they get built first, annoying but true.

Octavia MKIII headlights, and other queries
- Octavia MKIII headlights, and other queries
Since I bought the car second hand I asked the dealer (big mistake!) who said it was an option, but I'm quite prepared to believe they were standard fit on an Elegance even with halogen headlamps. But the point I was making is that this comment you made isn't correct: - Octavia MKIII headlights, and other queries
