  1. Or Schumacher vs Hill? Great driver though he was I could never respect Schumacher for the number of times his driving was "questionable"? I hope Verstappen isn't going to behave the same way when under pressure as that for me will be a waste of his undoubted talent.
  2. Since the 12V battery is required for things like door locks, vehicle lighting, etc. then if it isn't charged when the high voltage battery is charged that makes a mild hybrid totally useless for shorter journeys where the ICE never starts IMHO. I can't believe that VAG would make a silly design error like that? Surely....
  3. Have you taken advantage of any of the Government Covid support packages? E.g. some lenders are not lending to self-employed who took up the loans/grants - not saying that applies here but just asking...
  4. There really is a shortage of semiconductors (car makers cancelled orders in 2020 and semiconductor manufacturers cannot keep up with demand because orders for tablets, phone, PCs etc. have gone up enormously so the fabs are working at full capacity so the car makers just have to take their place in the queue). VAG always give priority to VW & Audi over Skoda & SEAT - so they get built first, annoying but true.
  5. Since I bought the car second hand I asked the dealer (big mistake!) who said it was an option, but I'm quite prepared to believe they were standard fit on an Elegance even with halogen headlamps. But the point I was making is that this comment you made isn't correct:
  6. But headlamp washers could also be specified as an option even with normal halogen headlamps - our 2015 1.4TSI Elegance has headlamp washers which the original owner specified as an option.
  7. When the water pumps were replaced has the system been correctly refilled to make sure there are no airlocks?
  8. Interesting statement on aircon usage here:
  9. I've had this happen twice, first time it was a faulty parking sensor and second time it was a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor. You need a fault code scan (with e.g. VCDS) to know what the cause is.
  10. I'm just passing on what has been advised, which seems to be confirmed by there not actually being any measuring block that shows AdBlue level - which you would expect if there was a level sensor? Not having a diesel I can't confirm or deny the correctness.
  11. Lots of AdBlue questions on the Ross-Tech forum suggest that there is no level gauge in the AdBlue tanks, just a software guesstimate.
  12. 1) Yes, EPC light is checked when the ignition is turned on and goes off when engine is running. 2) There is a list viewable on both the Maxidot and the infotainment of reasons why stop/start isn't working.
  13. Small enough and light enough to be sent by postal services not courier.
  14. P Zeros have lovers and haters - I'm a hater having found their wet weather grip to be close to zero. I would recommend either Goodyear F1 or Michelin Pilot which I have good experiences of.
  15. I haven't heard any suggestion of that in the UK, have the EU suggested it officially? Google doesn't find anything?
  16. Ban what? Banning stop/start or banning disabling stop/start? Banning stop/start seems unlikely as it's sole alleged benefit is emissions reduction. Banning disabling stop/start has effectively happened since 2019 when VAG stopped the tweaks from working.
  17. Not banned, but the tweaks that permanently disable it no longer work (dieselgate issues). If you want the battery to be fully charged to best (only?) way is to unplug the current sensor so the alternator output is then not controlled by state-of-charge only battery voltage.
  18. Several things could cause that, you really need to find someone local with a diagnostic tool to see the actual fault code(s). See VCDS Owners map or List of VCDS owners
  19. In my Audi S4 when doing 70mph (cough!) on the M3 I hit a pigeon that was initially hit by the Transit in front and got thrown over the top, hit my drivers wing mirror casing - knocked the mirror off and left dangling by the wires. Clicked the mirror back into place, only 'damage' was a bit of pigeon blood on the mirror casing.
  20. I was using a cigarette lighter socket voltage monitor last year during lockdown (1.4TSI original 5 year old battery): -ignition off after 4 weeks stopped, 12.2V - ignition on, 11,6V - engine started, 14.5V - while driving, initially 14.5V dropping to 12.6V then pulsing every few minutes up to 14.5V for a minute or so No additional loads like dashcam, etc.
  21. I wouldn't trust Halfords to fit a trailer socket - it needs to be properly integrated into the cars electronics using a trailer module and coding several electronic modules otherwise you will get all sorts of faults reported with the rear lights. Find a local towbar fitting company...
  22. Oxford ZEZ in Oxford city centre from next month (August 2021) isn't (yet...) a ban but a charging zone https://www.oxford.gov.uk/info/20299/air_quality_projects/1305/oxford_zero_emission_zone_zez
  23. No, ping @pab567 with details of your infotainment system
  24. My point is that it is not a whole day job for the dealer... they can do it while you wait (quicker than drinking a cup of their coffee).
