  1. When was the fully charged battery put back on the car? Several hours before an attempted start, or immediately before? I'm not suggesting battery - I'm suggesting something is staying on when it shouldn't.
  2. Have you tried measuring the battery voltage first thing in the morning before starting the car? I'm wondering if something isn't turning off?
  3. Depends what year the S3 is - I had a brand new S3 in 1999, and that definitely was not MQB as MQB hadn't been designed then!
  4. Did you delete the original files from the SD card (i always do a backup onto a PC first), then unzip the downloaded new maps first before copying the unzipped files to the SD card?
  5. Did you download the correct maps for your system (MIB1 Amundsen?)? Are you using a genuine Skoda SD card?
  6. Modern cars have a huge number of embedded "PCs" in them, often 30 or more! - so it should be no surprise that they often behave like PCs.
  7. On both my Octavia 3's the headlight washers only work with the headlights on.
  8. A Mk1 Fabia is unlikely ever to become a valuable classic so whether is worth repairing depends on your attitude to the car - if it's just a means of getting from A to B then no, but if it has some sentimental value that exceeds its market value (probably a lot less than the £800 you paid 5 years ago) then maybe yes. Two cars I've owned I now regret selling - a 1995 Renault 5GT Turbo and a 2007 Audi RS4 Avant - I now realise I loved driving them so much that for me they're worth so more than the market value.
  9. Your profile says you have a 2012 Octavia, which would make it a Mark II, so have you posted in the correct forum (this is the Octavia III forum)? I also have a 1.8TSI Octavia, what makes you want to upgrade your brakes?
  10. That's not the scan, that's just the installation list - a mistake that a lot of people make!
  11. 4G devices will fall back to 3G or EDGE, so I wouldn't discount this as a cause that easily - has a new building been built in the area meaning that you are now in a "not spot" for example? Radio propagation is a fickle thing, as I well know from my time as a Chief Engineer with a mobile comms company. When you're away from home (for work or with friends or family) does the traffic data load at it's previous speed?
  12. What else happened in those 4 weeks? Many mobile operators have been turning off 3G, this has affected me - there are now many areas locally where the only data coverage is EDGE, which is painfully slow. So I'm speculating that this could be the cause of your very slow traffic updates recently - no 3G, no 4G, no 5G so reverting to slow EDGE.
  13. Spring assisters as sold for those who tow?
  14. Not if you correctly change the bulb types specified in the BCM to LED using VCDS, OBDeleven, etc.
  15. If a dimmwert value is 0 then that section of the leuchte is inactive since 0 means off, so don't mess with any 0 values! Typically 100 is max brightness with halogen bulbs but for a reason I don't understand 127 is sometimes used with LED bulbs. Look at it this way, the dimmwert vale specifies the duty cycle of a PWM signal, with 127 being the base value so 127 as a dimmwert value means 100% duty cycle, 64 means 50% duty cycle - you get the jist.
  16. The indicated mpg is staying virtually the same but the tank level is dropping faster - so doesn't that say the 'extra' diesel is not passing the monitoring points, so maybe leaking or evaporating? It's not been hot enough for diesel evaporation to be a problem so my suggestion is to search for drips/leaks?
  17. I wonder if a Freedom Of Information request to the DfT (or whatever it's called now) would elicit a complete list? Maybe a newspaper like the Guardian could be persuaded to be "interested"?
  18. You're assuming that Skoda issue release notes - my experience is that they don't.
  19. When I had a water leak in a previous car (Citroen C1) I had to put a fan heater in the car on max temperature to properly dry out the carpets and sound insulation underneath.
  20. Sadly that's been the case for several years, it's been widely reported on the media for several years that the drivers who pay most for their insurance are those who don't shop around. The "loyalty bonus" is a bonus to the insurance company because you pay MORE for loyalty not less.
  21. A short to 12V fault code can also mean that a wire (or corroded connector pin) is open circuit. You say you've checked the wires are intact, but have you checked any connectors in the circuit too?
  22. Manual or DSG? Kangarooing is much less noticeable with DSG.
  23. If they are dimmable you need to adjust the dimmwert value in the section where the bulbs are defined as indicators. The leuchte channels each have 4 sections with GH having the highest priority followed by EF, CD and AB.
  24. I never felt my PD130 was lacking grunt, even before I had it chip tuned!
  25. Some places say that to fully reset one touch on the Octavia you have to run the window to the limit and hold the switch 5 times not just once?
