  1. Sounds very like an ABS wheel sensor to me - all those systems need to know wheel speed so them all appearing together strongly suggests that. I had the same raft of faults on my previous Octavia and the cause was the right rear wheel speed sensor.
  2. That will only happen when/if Governments break the link between oil/gas costs and the prices of electricity to consumers (which is currently artificially high) - and there's no sign of them doing that anytime soon despite the costs of green generating having dropped as volumes increases and technology improves.
  3. How to alienate voters in one easy lesson
  4. The length of the contact patch depends on the circumference of the tyre, so if the circumference is substantially the same (in this case a diference of 1.9% is stated) then the length of the contact patch will be substantially the same and hence the contact patch area will be almost completely determined by the tyre width - hence why I only took tyre width into account in my earlier calculation.
  5. Only for 50% of the gears - on a 6 speed extended-H layout when changing down from 6th, 4th or 2nd you move the stick forwards. Aygo MMT shifter
  6. Each to their own 👍
  7. Or are they claiming it's an early 23 spec? With the spec changing every few months (bring back annual model updates!) it's become increasing difficult to know what the spec will be on a new or nearly new vehicle.
  8. Assuming the circumference is the same, that's a contact patch that is 43% smaller - so in wet or slippery conditions (mud, ice, snow, etc.) I would say that would be a noticeable difference in grip across the axle.
  9. I'd be more likely to use the gear stick in M mode if it were more 'logical', IMHO VAG have got the "+" and "-" on the gear stick the wrong way round (unlike Toyota, I always drove my Aygo MMT in manual mode) with "+" being towards the front of the car and "-" towards the rear of the car. Here's my thinking - when you're braking, and most likely to need to downshift, the deceleration force acts to shift your weight forward so it would be best if "-" was towards the front of the car as the deceleration force would help you downshift. Conversely, when accelerating, and most likely to need to upshift, the acceleration force acts to shift your weight backwards so it would be best if the "+" was towards the rear of the car. A small point which many might not agree with or even see the problem, but one which matters to me.
  10. I wish there were paddles on the steering wheel for M mode (even my Aygo MMT had paddles!) then I would use M mode more, the pfaff of having to reach down to the gear stick means I just use S mode or kickdown.
  11. Could be a faulty wheel speed sensor or connection to it? Really best to do a fault code scan with VCDS or OBDeleven to get more useful diagnostic information.
  12. Unstarted over 12V, just started probably over 14V.
  13. Is the gear shift knob different depending on which DSG is fitted? On the Octavia 3 they all look to have the same gear shift knob regardless of the actual DSG model?
  14. The legal requirement is to always overread but by no more than 10%, so manufacturers try to get a vehicle to overread by around 5-7% when on brand new OE size tyres to allow for wear and tolerances.
  15. Citroen C1 on OE tyres +7% Citroen C1 on larger 16" wheels +1% Audi RS4 on OE tyres +5% Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI Combi on OE 17" wheels +5% Skoda Octavia 1.8TSI Hatch on OE 18" wheels +4% All against Road Angel GPS
  16. It was like that on DSG versions of the Octavia 3 too - so it's not a new feature bug.
  17. Correct it doesn't use satellites - the data is entered by people in a UK control room and is transmitted over RDS on selected FM stations.
  18. Not owned many diesels so can't be overly helpful , but first thought is have you checked the fuel filter? Other possibility I can think of is an injector stuck open, have you smelt the dispstick? Does it smell of diesel?
  19. Definitely, I've been using a HEX-NET on Skodas and Audis for several years.
  20. Concentrate on the insufficient diesel pressure as that's what will cause poor running. Faulty glow plugs will just make starting more difficult.
  21. ... and probably best to post in the Superb forum, not the Octavia forum?
  22. Why not compare the OE size tyres/wheels against your proposed size using a tyre calculator to see what the increase in diameter is (the rule of thumb is no more than 2% either way) and what the offset of the wheels will do to how far in/out the tyre is? An example: https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/
  23. As with all suppressed zero graphs the impression created is much worse than the reality. The impression is a 600% increase in CO2 (one vertical line to 6) but the reality is an increase of around 33% - still bad but not as horrifying!
  24. Octavia 3.5 is commonly used when referring to an Octavia 3 facelift (FL).
  25. If you're a verified VCDS owner then Uwe normally replies pretty quickly to a PM on the Ross-Tech forum.
