The brakes on mine are absolutely fine; no sign of heat, corrosion, pitting or destruction on the fronts or rears and I’m nearly on 50k. I also find them to have excellent stopping power.However, the PITA is the dust, so…. ….on the basis of this, are these Brembo and ATE pads the way to reduce the dust?

I use the boot stays all the time. I have a boot tidy thing from Lidl and it’s crammed-full of car related stuff; one of those stays stops it from moving around the boot space.

Gone are the days of vacuum fuel starvation. My Mums Ford Prefect 105E (81MPJ!) regularly had that issue on loner journeys in the summer. On one occasion when we’d had to stop as the engine was hunting like crazy and finally stalled, a passing RAC patrolman on his bike stopped and asked we were OK. Mum explained that unfortunately we weren’t members and he said don’t worry about that. He asked what the problem was and Mum explained what had happened, and the patrolman walked to the back of the car. He then opened the petrol cap and with a huge rushing of air and a bang as the tank returned to its correct shape, the problem was solved. Mum now made sure she’d vented the tank at the start of any longer drive she undertook.

You might be getting a front/rear and the top/bottom buttons operating at the same time, so pushing the switch at 2, 4, 8 or 10 o’clock; that would cause the effect you describe.

Don’t understand; you can’t feel where the lumbar support moves to, when pressing the quad button? The front and rear buttons change the amount of support the lumbar provides. The top and bottom buttons moves the position of the lumbar support up and down the back of the seat.

Not getting rid of the 280 at any point. Absolutely love the car and dislike the MKIV. Might look for a small city car and use that to keep the mileage at a reasonable level on the 280 (currently 49k).

I’ve never turned the 280’s off, nor the MKII nor the MKI before that… and not the Octavia before that!

It’s down to the daylight sensor not being activated for the given light conditions.

The OS part number is 3V5868885E. It’s about £40.

Must’ve saved a € or 2 to go down the software route, but that in itself, makes it more difficult solution than a switch.

So I’m guessing after 2016/7, they removed the interior and tilt sensor disable button at the bottom of the B post?

Find a local VAG specialist and use them.

Errrrr, c’mon. Do you really think you’d need to have two tools to do the same job? Try again; it definitely works on the locking wheel nut cover.

I’d still recommend the Conti All Seasons. I’ve now covered 15k on them and there’s no perceptible wear, but I do drive “sedately” 95% of the time.

You probably can get the covers but, knowing VAG, they’ll be ridiculously expensive. And there are catches which the covers lock into which would need to be fitted too. I’ve no idea how the half covers are fitted on yours though.

@Sparky210 Have you always had the car serviced at a Skoda dealer? If so that’ll help with a goodwill claim. If not, they tend to be less helpful… ☹️

Yeah, the seat base was just as difficult to remove as it was on the first occasion. I guess it could be that the MKII fixings were not sacrificial?

And I definitely did not replace the “single use” clips either as they continued to hold the base in place; I’m sure they’re the usual VAG £7.80 plus VAT… EACH…. and on back order.

Well done. Looks very similar to the MKII rear seat arrangement. I’d suggest you look at loosening the seatbelt anchors so they don’t damage the leather and heat element on the seat back.
