What have you done to your Superb III today?
Careful, the “Ditchfinder” brigade could be along momentarily… Oh, I agree with you btw! All tyres sold in the U.K. are covered by strict performance regulations (until Westminster decide that anything will be allowed as long as it doesn’t have a metal ring as the tread and is wider than 2”!).

Left front wiper
It’s designed to try to maintain the position of the wiper blades to be at right angles to the screen. You’ll note the arms sometimes go up or go down slightly, both when they’re switched off and when they’re in operation too. When they finally park, their position is moved so it’s opposite to where they were last parked, so if they previously had the blades facing up, they move the arm up so the blades to face down. Good idea really.

Superb 272 bhp 2018 - which DSG does it use?
Did both the 220 and 272 have 7 speed DSG?

Autoglass cut cable
Unfortunately, 99% of dealers nor independents do not have the experience, expertise or time to remove and replace a windscreen and that’s why they too use a screen replacement company

Autoglass cut cable
^^^^ What he said, 100%. What you don’t accept is for them to scotchlok them with a bit of cable; you want a new connection to the sensor unit. Thats what happens when you send an untrained tech to do a job like this. Also check they’ve fitted the bottom of the screen correctly too. I saw a Superb a few weeks ago, which had its heated screen replaced and it’d been fitted using so much bond that 2/3rds of it was 3mm proud of the plenum shroud, which meant the NS of the screen from top to bottom could not possibly have been fitted correctly. That was an Autoglass bodge too.

I think the P7’s are great quite honestly, and they’d be pretty-much perfect if they were a bit quieter. Having said that, on a good tarmac surface they’re fine.

To be fair, he only had to open the boot to find the torch! 😁

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I just removed the cool-looking Team Heko wind deflectors, which I fitted a couple of weeks ago. That’s cos they’re noisy above around 40mph and bloody unbearable at 70 and utterly pointless too, because they don’t deflect the wind but, apart from that they’re great! I’ll be ebaying at the first opportunity.

Failed, an eyewateringly expensive control unit on a 2016 Superb Estate
Hey ApertureS… “it’s the connectivity module behind the display it still should be near that!” Should that be “still should not be near that”?

Fix front windscreen spray nozzles?
Yeah, they can be adjusted.

Interior lights
Thought I’d remind you there’s a torch in your boot! 😂

So much for the P7’s being overtly “noisy” then. Who has experience of replacing their OE P7’s, have found their replacements to be significantly quieter and what are the they?

Remote opening of boot
….and I got to here and thank heavens; I could barely carry-on with the thought of what you might’ve done with your doggie! 😆
-
Remote opening of boot
Well, I never knew that! Anyone know what is meant by “latest” keys, for instance from what model year this feature was enabled?

Coasting.......
Ignore that… utter bo-locks. I have the drive set to Eco and everything else set to normal. 🙄 ****-head
-
Coasting.......
Oh! I’ve never noticed that; I’ll check it out. But SLA definitely works in Eco - well, it was working as I drove last night on the N15 in Donegal; the mains came on and off automatically as required.
-
Coasting.......
I didn’t say the transmission doesn’t engage when you brake, but ACC absolutely works in Eco mode, including restarting from rest however coasting is disabled so yeah, maybe the 280 is special….
-
Coasting.......
Can do both those in our 280 in Eco mode, which I actually use most of the time, as I’ve always been a fan of coasting when I can. I know people say there is a throttle delay in Eco, but I’ve not really noticed it tbh. I find if I need to accelerate fast to overtake, depending on the speed I want to achieve, I just blip the left paddle once or twice…. OK, normally it’s the latter! 😅

How is something “dynamic” if it doesn’t move? 🙃

Rear washer blocked and now broken, can it be replaced?
Yeah that filled me with dread! At crossed my mind when looking at PhilD2 pic was that the 90 degree joint was probably at the lowest point of the pipework, so it was probable that any blockage was there, so just a lucky guess really.

Rear washer blocked and now broken, can it be replaced?
So I removed the jet unit and poked a thin cable tie down the feed tube but it was too short to reach the bottom. I got a much longer but thicker tie and cut it down the centre to reduce its width. I poked this gently up and down the pipe hitting the bottom of the 90 degree angle and after a few goes, hey presto, the water bubbled-up the pipe and out of the top! The car had been standing for 6 months following me rescinding my license following a suspected stroke, so I’m sure it was just blocked by the screen wash crystalising at the bend. Anyway, works perfectly now and thoroughly soaked a couple of people on the NS and OS pavements earlier this afternoon; oops… I really must re-adjust them jets!
-
Rear washer blocked and now broken, can it be replaced?
Thanks for that. I’m away from home for a couple of weeks at the moment so I don’t have my trim removers to get the cover off the back of the tailgate, so I think I’ll give it a go from the outside, by popping the jets off again and then pushing a thin cable tie down the pipe to see if that un-gunges it. Bloody annoying to say the least!
-
Rear washer blocked and now broken, can it be replaced?
I’ve got the same issue now. I’ve removed the washer jets and they’re clear and there’s nothing coming out of the new exposed pipe, so I’m assuming it’s blocked at the 90 degree elbow; there’s no water appearing anywhere else in the boot or from the camera / number plate light apertures.

Fuel Economy Superb 2.0 TSi vs 1.5 TSi
Have another trip to the Emerald Isle shortly and I’m going for our economy this time to see if I can ge…… nah, it won’t happen. 😜 In our MKI Elegance 140 TDI I used to regularly get over a true 60mpg at 60mph, but I was doing 110 miles a day on 70mph A roads and the M25/M4. 55mpg was the best I had in the MKII CR220.
