Enyaq Servicing
Vw quote first service for their EVs due at 24 months or 20,000 miles then every year or 20,000 miles. Lots of cable checks apparently and they will check the charge on your battery and top it up if necessary. I can picture the conversation...So that'll be £189 sir, plus £45 for the pollen filter, plus £65 for the brake fluid change and £9.50 for the screen wash and oh your discs and pads need changing, that'll be another £350 sir, yes I know its a lot but because the car is electric and the brakes are hardly ever used so they tend to rust and corrode sir. We also noticed some damage to your charge cable and we recommend you change that for safety reasons, how much? Let me check....£450....

Maybe, but the bonnet already has an additional safety catch that requires releasing, there to stop an unlocked or improperly locked bonnet flying up. And if the car is locked, isn't that already awkward enough for an undesirable. Why isnt this a feature on other previous or present models such as my Superb mk3 or perhaps its less desirable than a Fabia. 🤪

Hardly any brake pedal after abs or esp cuts in?
Check the stiff vacuum pipe from the brake reservoir going back to the vacuum pump, check carefully for splits in the pipework at the points there is a join, at the reservoir,at the pump and in between any valves and branches. The hard plastic VAG uses, goes brittle over time and spilts at the connection joints allowing air to be drawn in and so lose full vacuum and reserve braking assistance. Ultimately you risk losing all braking assistance so this is a vital safety inspection that should be carried out regularly.

WARNING Remote locking vulnerable to attack
Although some improvements have been made with the latest keyless systems, there are still plenty of older systems or keys kept in coat pockets, pretend faraday pouches or simply in the hand that an opportunist might relay with his hundred pound ebay kit and drive away in a nice car. My next door neighbour had a nice BMW X1. He is an intelligent chappie being a doctor and at the time travelled a lot around the country doing locum work. One night in Birminghan, he parked up in a hotel car park. Next morning he went out and couldn't find his car. CCTV revealed a hooded figure approach his car shortly after him walking away and after his lights flashing indicating opening, they jumped on and drove off. Even with CCTV evidence the police were just not interested in pursuing it further saying the CCTV could not identify the culprit and the car was probably in a container being loaded on a ship by then. They also said the crime was extremely common and they had far too many to be able to follow them all up. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/car-industry-news/2021/03/03/uk-car-theft-hotspots-revealed-as-keyless-crime-reaches-record-high

Possibly, but then they could just redesign the bonnet pull handle, put a dog leg in it, or simply have the handle angled back. Maybe its "simply too much to expect"

Headlamp bulb dipped beam
All road legal halogen bulbs are legally limited to 1500 lumen ± 10%. Upgrade bulbs are whiter because they run hotter but all have substantially shorter life as a result. In a projector headlight like the Octavia you're unlikely to see that much difference as the main way they claim higher brightness/longer throw is by moving the filament position so the illumination hotspot is further in the distance, but this only applies if the bulb is in a reflector housing of standard design.

1.4 TSI Multiple Cylinder misfires despite replacing all 4 coil packs and spark plugs
Checking fuel filter is not changing, they, repeat, cannot check a fuel filter.... If the fuel filter were blocked, then the misfire codes would most likely have been accompaniedby low fuel pressure codes. Its starting to look like a fuel injector issue to me, are the misfire codes only on one cylinder?

1.4 TSI Multiple Cylinder misfires despite replacing all 4 coil packs and spark plugs
You can't inspect a fuel filter, only change them. Make sure they used the correct plugs, they should be fine tip double platinum plugs, afaik only bosch make a suitable replacement. At 65,000 miles if the plugs had never been changed then they are the prime suspect. Fuel contamination is the next ppossibility. This is the only reason you might want to change the fuel filter as these are normally for life items. Has this scenario continued after refilling fuel a couple of times? After this comes a fuel injector issue or possibly an inlet or exhaust valve issue though this is unlikely imo. Has the car been serviced over its lifetime with the correct oil 504.00 spec longlife 3 and on time, by whom, a skoda dealer?

Loss of power / Locking up
Could be a faulty CV. Could be a shot differential, or the diff/driveshaft support bearings. Usually you hear a loud clunk when putting on/lifting off the power as the diff moves from side to side. To confirm, check for end play at the drive shaft gearbox flanges , you need both wheels in the air to check this. Twisting both driveshafts in opposite directions and look for the flanges moving in and out of the box. If there is evidence of gearbox oil leakage at the flanges, the gearbox maybe running quite dry and those bearings are the first to go. Remote possibility are the brakes coming on for some reason, maybe check the flexi hoses for signs of deterioration.

Drivers door barrel
Probably was as a result of a worker's suggestion box entry that it would save 2 mins / 2 euros on the production line if all Fabias were built with the lock on the same side. Thank god they ignored the suggestion that the steering wheels and pedals should all be put on the left hand side. I need to check where these locks, if any, are on my Superb...

Engine occasionally judder at idle - Help
Check the stiff vacuum pipe from the brake servo to the inlet manifold, it also has a non return valve half way. Look for splits at all the joints. BZG is IMO a pretty decent engine, 3 pot HTP engines get a lot of unjustified criticism, but the real reason is because they were cheap bargain motors, a large number of owners are cheapskates or just plain ignorant and never look after them, service them on time or correctly. Oil changes are frequently ignored, incorrect oil used etc. A death sentence for any ICE At least the BZG has a decent roller cam chain instead of the disastrous inverted tooth chain abomination of the EA111 tsi series. I think only the most well serviced examples will see over 150,000 miles and 200,000 miles would be exceptional. Don't think I've heard of any HTP engine reaching that mileage. Any engine or gearbox can of course be repaired/refurbished but most will get scrapped prematurely when major issues occur as either it is deemed uneconomical or the owner just wants a change or doesn't want to get involved or take a risk as there are many cowboy garages around ready to rob you blind with shoddy and overpriced work. My 2009 fabia has a BZG engine on 102,000 miles. It is by far the easiest and cheapest Skoda in our fleet (currently fabia mk2, octavia mk2, superb mk3) to service and maintain.

Sill jacking points
If you look at the factory supplied jack, you will notice the part that lifts is a u section with rolled out flat parts at the top of the u at slightly different heights. Its also articulated to allow the lifting part to take up the correct position either side of the lip when jacking.

WARNING Remote locking vulnerable to attack
As I understand with all keyless stop/start systems, not just keyless entry, that if the engine is still running, you can continue to drive until you physically stop the engine, (or maybe if stop/start switches off the engine when you pull up say at the traffic lights) so yes anyone can drive the car away, if they can get into the car and the engine has been left running. However, leaving a car engine running while on a public highway, not in control of a seated driver is illegal and your insurance company would refuse a payout if your car was stolen in those circumstances

WARNING Remote locking vulnerable to attack
Ok instead of just pressing one button, do a quick risk assessment of the area, if you are not happy then press the button on the remote then touch the KESSY lock indent, whatever that is. And what indication is given that my touch was successful? Wonderful stuff, I wonder how many people know that or do that?

Disabling Alarm System
I think you'll find the alarm module, hidden behind the wheel arch liner iirc has a rechargeable nimh battery and can still scream independently of the main battery. The reason its going off randomly is the Nimh battery is failing or corrosion on the pcb. They can be replaced, can't remember where I saw detailed instructions, maybe youtube? There is a possibility that its the internal movement sensors setting off the alarm, in which case you can deactivate the safe securing system. This is done by locking the vehicle with the key or radio-operated key twice within 2 seconds.

WARNING Remote locking vulnerable to attack
Saves pushing a button. How did I ever live without that? Battery lasts 6 months instead of 15+ years. Risks easy theft of car, nip to the shop, jump out and while waiting to pay the man, hey your car is gone! No, I forgot, jump out, pull my faraday pouch out, unzip it, put the key inside, zip back up, place on pocket. So much easier and quicker than pressing a button. I wonder at what point insurance companies say that car was started with a key and so won't pay out.

Only one manually operatable lock I think. Looks as if Skoda couldn't be arsed to RHD it. Next model we might see something daft like zero manual locks.

Disable Keyless locking. Its in the manual somewhere iirc. Most pointless invention ever.

Rear Brake Discs
You require a diagnostic tool that can set brake service mode, which retracts the electric parking brake fully to allow rear pads and discs to be changed. OBD eleven, Carista and many other low cost tools can do this. There are hacks to do it without the tool but I wouldn't waste my time or risk damage attempting this. The diagnostic tool will come in handy in the future anyway. With the correct tool its very easy to change the rears as you don't even need to wind pistons back. Front pads and discs are standard fare and should be easy to DIY

Power Steering / Electrical Issue, code 01288.
If it hasn't already been said, steering pump cutting out is often due to a weak or dying battery. The peak current required when turning at stationary or low speeds is higher than the alternator provides at low rpm. Requires a healthy battery, if the voltage dips too low, the pump will shut off.

DSG GEARBOX OIL QUANTITY/CAPACITY
I am not an expert on DSG but let me say this. DQ200 has two parts oil wise, the main gearbox and the mechatronics unit. Seperate oils and completely different oils, the gearbox oil is just gearbox oil just over 2 litres probably, the MCU oil is a hydraulic oil about a litre I think. Don't confuse the two. Your fault indicates a likely failure of the pressure accumulator in the MCU, a common problem where it cracks and leaks 6 litres of oil is for the 6 speed Wet DSG not yours. https://koboguide.com/dq200-oil-change/

RAM for a 486
Yes thats an early 486DX. And those are 72pin EDO ram slots. I might have a few in the loft somewhere amongst all the computer junk in the loft I've hoarded since god knows when. Why would you want to ressurect a 486 system? Are you opening a museum?
-
RAM for a 486
Are you sure they are 72 pin and not 60/30 pin? Close up photo of memory slot would help. 72 pin have a gap in the middle of the slot https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIMM
