  1. +1 i've been using AliExpress metal caps on Gandalf for almost 6 yrs now, no rust/corrosion whatsoever. not faded either as the car is garaged.
  2. I've been using AAWireless for a number of years now - highly recommended. Never had dropouts or performance issues. Connects every time. Good quality.
  3. the factory xenon bulb is powered by a ballast (8K0 941 597 B), controlled by the light control module (8U0 941 329 version A headlights; 4H0 941 329 version B headlights), which is in turn governed by the AFS Module (3Q0 907 338 - 4B Multi-function module). The LCMs r sub-systems (slaves) of the AFS module. the power consumption of the xenon bulb, and the ballast, is rated up to 35W. the LED bulb takes the place of the xenon, consuming the same power - up to 35W. given there is no change in power/current drawn, all the systems r happy, and nothing is reported back to the "CANBUS".
  4. I thought mine was back too because I did a scan last night and there was a warning on 08 Air Conditioning module!! "B10CD00 - Function limitation due to energy management" Different message to wat I was getting before I changed the AQS sensor. Never seen that warning before. Hopefully it's just a one off. I've cleared it now. Will keep an eye on it to see if it comes back.
  5. Obviously only applies to the facelift Superb. I can see why though given it uses a different ACC radar, and possibly A5 camera, to the pre-facelift Superb. Tis a shame.
  6. Thanks for the clarification there. I'm pretty sure there will b something, somewhere, in the compliance rules here in Oz that will imply this mod is a fail/illegal too.
  7. In theory yes, hence why time will tell. 🙂 Either it will b fine, or it will fail miserably.
  8. The LED will work fine, but ideally the heatsink should b ventilated. Given the heatsink and fan is inside the headlight with the cover closed, the question is how long will the diode last. Should b fine, but time will tell. The important thing for me was that the beam pattern was spot on like the xenon bulb. I didn't want an LED bulb that threw the light beam incorrectly, and scattering the light all over the place. Wat is the "bulb monitoring option" u referring to? If u mean the CANBUS monitoring that tells u if a bulb is faulty - yes it does. In fact most Skoda models do that.
  9. Doesn't look like Skoda wheels, despite the centre caps being Skoda.
  10. Egg-jacktly, Gandalf has factory bi-xenon (HID). All I've done is replaced the xenon bulb with an LED bulb. Everything is exactly the same, wiring and all. Whilst @Winston_Woof was quick to say this would b a fail, in the very same post, in his quote, it goes on to say it is legal if U already had HID headlights. "If a complete headlamp unit has been replaced with a unit that was manufactured with HID or LED light sources, it must not be failed for ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’ but it must meet all other requirements detailed in section 4 of this manual specific to the type fitted at the time of test." The reason I hadn't done this earlier was that I was concerned about putting a bulb with a fan on the back of it, sucking out the heat generated, all inside the headlight unit. But with research and time, I became comfortable with the idea and committed.
  11. Correct, the car is more than likely jacked up at a different position. The comparison was from a pic I took 2 yrs ago. Hence the different garage setup between the before and after.
  12. I haven't adjusted them at that point as it was still up on jack stands. I was just checking to make sure it was working before buttoning things back up. I did the adjustment once the car was back on the ground. I hate dazzlers myself.
  13. After some convincing from a fellow Skoda friend, with a good recommendation - I finally decided to pull the pin (after a few years of ummm'ing and arrr'ing) and put in LED globes in Gandalf's headlights. I already had Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 D3S globes in there, been almost 4 yrs now. These new ones r J.W.Speaker D3S LED bulbs. 5700K, 4500 Lumens. Plug n Play. Initial thoughts - they're definitely more brighter. Fitment is good, just like the normal xenon bulb. Headlight beam is good, both high and low. Fans r a bit noisy, u can hear them with just accessories turned on, and the headlight back cover off. Not in a bad annoying way. With the engine on, u don't hear it. Happy with it. Fingers crossed that it lasts the distance now. Comparison below - top is Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 D3S xenon bulb, bottom is J.W. Speaker D3S LED. 14. I bought mine secondhand, so I paid nowhere near that. I understand ur confusion with all the different part numbers. I would warn u though to b mindful of the airbag. I believe the airbag design is different for steering wheels from MY18. Hence u might find two different part numbers for a steering wheel that has the same features, but it will b a different airbag variant.
  15. Lift off!! This was Gandalf in MechWarrior mode a few months ago when I got the wheels changed.
  16. @bradecline - so I can confirm that the behaviour is as u said - "when ACC is activated at speed below 65 km/h? When I activate ACC below that speed, lane guidance is inactive. I need to accelerate to 65 to activate it. Then it works at speeds below 65 km/h as long as ACC is active"
  17. I upgraded my round steering wheel for a flat-bottomed version. Old Wheel: 3VO 419 091 S CWE New Wheel: 565 419 091 E BGW The airbag from my old wheel was compatible with the flat-bottomed wheel. Mine is MY17, paddle-shift version, no heating.
  18. Will check it out trow, but from memory I think I can activate TJA (ACC + ALG) below 65 km/h, and have ALG doing it's thing. Will let u know soon.
  19. I personally hate Coasting because there is no speed control and i end up with a runaway car that is over speeding!! Because I'm over speeding, I have to hit the brakes to slow it down. But as soon as i hit the brakes, Coasting stops and the engine goes into gear. So wats the point!?!!? Annoying and frustrating. So I never bother with ECO mode at all.
  20. Not sure, likely it's the same. But I know for sure Superb 3V and Passat B8 share the same suspension components. Whilst the Superb is bigger than the Passat, dimensions wise, it is identical in size with the Arteon.
  21. Yes, u can have active lane guidance active without having ACC active. I use it like this quite often. The only catch is that u must b doing more than 65 km/h for adaptive lane guidance to work. If however u have ACC active too, then Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) is enabled and lane guidance will work continue to work even at speeds below 65 km/h, down to a stop. Mine is MY17.
  22. Sorry, I meant to say ACC disables the Coasting function. ACC still works in ECO driving mode.
  23. In my 2017 Superb with DSG, Coasting was only in ECO driving mode. ECO mode also disables ACC.
  24. @defsix - understand, I much prefer the metal case version too. I was tempted to try going down the path of upgrading to the new mk8 Golf key, but I can't see anyone that has done it before with this version of the Superb key. Most of them r flip keys, which the Superb key is not.
