  1. Your error was assuming I was being serious, you really can't read people at all so you should stop trying and confine yourself to factual comments about the subject matter. I'm being serious now btw.
  2. They're a sealed unit to prevent water ingress, even if you could split them you'd never keep the water out which would mean constantly blown bulbs. Putting form above function is always a bad idea. Forget about it since they work and stop using them as DRL's, the constant heat from overuse has mullered the reflective coating.
  3. Parts like that get lost when the car is being serviced by an idiot who drops his tools and runs when the dinner bell rings and completely forgets what he was doing all morning because his supervisor asks him why it isn't ready yet after lunch.
  4. It is, just reflow all the pads where the multiplug connectors attach to the board.
  5. You need to reflow all the solder pads on the instrument cluster circuit board.
  6. Nowadays they don't care and just go in dry!
  7. Yes it will fit just fine, go buy it.
  8. Don't be sad, humour is meant to make you smile...
  9. Who cares, the guy doesn't drive it 🙄 Hampshire's only cold if you're a nudist.
  10. It's down to aerodynamics really, flat back hatchbacks like the Fabia create low pressure behind them so smoky TDI's get very sooty tailgates and water spray gets all over the rear window.
  11. @UrbanPanzer these mods are for townies who cruise around at 30mph under streetlighting, not pitch black country lanes at illegal speeds in inclement weather.
  12. Not looking for a fight Ken, just trying not to muddy the waters with irrelevant information
  13. I should perhaps add AFAIK, because I haven't owned them from new but I have sufficient experience to make my own decisions and I inspect them once a year whether they need it or not
  14. Sounds serious, total boost loss possibly, check all the boost pipework in case one has come adrift.
  15. Yeah, PD engine, totally different proposition, belt works REALLY hard on a PD, but not on a petrol Ken. Apples and Oranges dude.
  16. My 1.4 16V is still on the road at 21 years old on the original belts, my 2.0 is at 125k and 18 years old on the original cambelt. I never advise people against it because it's preventative maintenance. But I don't bother.
  17. Yes you are, he sounds terrible.
  18. They are stretch bolts so you cannot re-torque them correctly. If the lifters are worn then so is the cam, they wear together. Has the wrong oil been used?
  19. You can't, you can only do it with the key in the lock.
  20. No, just the sump plug and filter.
  21. Those grommets are anti vibration mounts, the radiator and intercooler assembly will just lift out of them.
  22. 0.5mm will not be a problem. Those pins are called spring fingers and together they make up a diaphragm spring which acts on the pressure plate, how can they be too deep?
  23. It doesn't matter, they're completely separate circuits with only the reservoir in common.
