  1. Injectors no, fuel pump maybe. Most garages suck at fixing cars, find a VW indie near you.
  2. I used T-cut, it's useless on modern paintwork but it cleaned up the headlights a treat.
  3. When you clear the codes you also reset the dynamic map so this again indicates that you have an air leak or the pre-cat lambda probe itself may be deteriorating.
  4. No wear sensor on Fabias, otherwise good.
  5. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16491/P0107 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16786/P0402/001026 Still suggestive of an intake leak, try disconnecting the EGR valve.
  6. You'll have to smash it to get the deadlock undone.
  7. Check for leaks in the brake vacuum hose and breather system. Also change the spark plugs unless you know it's been done recently. Also it's a Fabia 1 and this is the Fabia 2 section.
  8. The only pertinent issue really is that they're all 15-20 years old now, foibles will have been fixed long ago but with mileages really starting to climb and running gear starting to rust or perish you need to buy one that looks like it's been well looked after, this means evidence of lots of new parts.
  9. All modern mass produced cars are landfill, it's only genuinely scarce variants and exotica that will really have any future value as classics. It's like suggesting that my 2.0 MPI will be more valuable because it's much rarer than a VRS, it's pub guff and I'm gonna drive mine into the ground then scrap it.
  10. As usual, inside engineering information completely ignored in favour of imaginary anecdotal nonsense for the sake of an argument.
  11. There's no need to fill to the top, filling to the top can increase oil consumption if the crank and rods are splashing about in it. The dipstick marks are a tolerance so the middle is the ideal.
  12. FARB drop link.
  13. To be fair, the rear discs on these cars do so little work that they tend to rust out long before they wear out, it's why drums suit small light cars better.
  14. Yes, they're perfect, Brembo are excellent quality parts in my experience.
  15. That's ridiculously high.
  16. Did you refit the strut into the hub carrier deep enough? Three inches is far too much extra height.
  17. Unlikely to be the MAP sensor: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16490/P0106/000262 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16684/P0300/000768 Boost leak is common to both, also camchain issues.
  18. ...or just throw it away and forget about it.
  19. I swapped one out on a 2000 car, TRW, your mechanic is talking about the angle sensor rather than the pump I suspect.
  20. Mechatronic. Yes, Haldex is an electronic diff which engages the rear wheel drive on a FWD car, it's not really proper 4x4. DSG gearboxes are not without their little foibles as they get older and more worn.
  21. Jesus, start by clearing all that nonsense. Tell us what the car is actually doing rather than what that ridiculous smartphone app says it's doing.
  22. You're welcome to disagree but you'd be wrong. So there's that.
  23. Try pushing the plug on harder while squeezing the release tab then wiggle it off.
