  1. You haven't given enough information to allow us to solve this problem. The messed up coding is the result of something happening to the car, and that is the problem that needs to be solved. As @langers2k pointed out earlier in the thread, we don't know what the coding necessarily should be for your specific car. If you want help, explain what was done to the car to cause this problem first, along with any troubleshooting steps you have done or solutions you have attempted.
  2. So what were you doing/trying to do when this problem happened? And why not spend the extra money on a genuine VCDS cable? It's really not that expensive, and works much more reliably that the Chinese clones.

  4. My guess would be a cheap VCDS clone scrambled or erased coding on one or more control modules. It's been known to happen in the past.
  5. It's 4 Torx screws, can't remember which size though.
  6. This car is not going to be much like your old one in many respects. There's a trim panel surrounding the radio that is just clipped on. Prise that off with a screwdriver and you will find 4 screws securing the radio to the dashboard.
  7. I use a Carista adapter for VAG-DPF and it works well. I've occasionally used Carista itself for fault scans, but when I already have VCDS it's not that important to me to be able to do that.
  8. Torque/Torque Pro only support OBD 2 codes: that means most engine & transmission codes. OBDEleven is a bit more expensive because you need their adapter but it covers VAG specific codes on other control modules as well. Carista supports most VAG codes on other modules too I think. If you get the Carista or OBDEleven bluetooth adapter, you can use the VAG DPF app with it to monitor your DPF health - very useful for knowing when a regen is coming up so you can make sure it is completed before you shut down the engine.
  9. Depends on the car really. Superb 2 Combi can take 100 kg on the roof. Your owner's manual will include maximum roof load in the specs list at the back.
  10. The coil light and the one in your picture are both indications of engine faults. You will need to do a diagnostic scan to find out what those faults are.
  11. If the DPF isn't too badly clogged, go for a long-ish drive, 40-50 km sort of thing. That'll give it time to go into regen and clear itself if it can. If that doesn't work, you may be able to force a regen but you will need VCDS or something similar to do this. If that doesn't work, it's likely the DPF is completely clogged and in need of replacement. Cleaning may be possible as a cheaper if you can find someone reputable to do it. To be honest this car sounds a bit dodgy. If you bought it from a dealer it might be best to return it and get a refund.
  12. Yeah, turn off ignition then back on or even turn on the engine for a few seconds. It doesn't matter whether the cable is plugged in or not. Play around with the affected functions on the vehicle as well. Now do another scan. It's common enough for old fault codes to be left on the car after a repair, especially if it's done outside the dealer network, or if it's a simple DIY fix. These can cause confusion when troubleshooting a problem. This procedure clears all codes, then powers up the affected systems to see what codes might be relevant to the current problem. As for the head unit, after you unplugged it, did you turn on the ignition/engine and play around with the affected functions? My hunch here is the head unit could be sending nonsense on the CAN lines and interfering with communications between other modules.
  13. Did you cycle the ignition and rescan for fault codes after clearing them? The point of doing this exercise is to get rid of any 'old' codes, and see what codes are set when the problem occurs. I'm not that knowledgeable on CAN & BCM stuff, I'm sure someone who knows their way around these systems will chime in at some point. @langers2kany thoughts on this?
  14. Going by some of the errors in the autoscan, I'd take a look at the CAN gateway or the BCM. Lots of communication errors. Two things to try first are clear all error codes and see what comes back, and unplug the aftermarket head unit and see if the car starts behaving itself again. Try one thing at a time.

  16. I've had good experience with OSRAM's Nightbreaker bulbs for halogen, and recently replaced the D1S xenon/HID bulbs in my Superb with OSRAM Xenarc and am very happy with the result. If you have xenons, even bulbs that still emit light can need replacing as the electrodes degrade over time, reducing performance. These are the 'working' bulbs I took out of my car a few months ago:

  18. Otherwise try and park somewhere that's really awkward for access to the cat. Also remember that the cat on diesel models at least is mostly in the engine bay (part of the DPF assembly) and difficult to access without the car being off the ground.

  20. I don't think they can be made to fold in automatically, but they will unfold automatically when the engine is started.
  21. It's buried in the Maxidot Phone menu. You want to change from 'Premium' (rSAP) mode to Handsfree. rSAP basically disconnects the SIM card from your phone and connects to a GSM tranceiver built into the car. Great for areas with bad coverage or if you pretty much live in the car, but it means all calls and texts received while in the car stay on the car rather than being synchronised back to the phone.'
  22. The problem is it wasn't a loophole, the engine was designed to operate differently if it detected that it was being tested, something explicitly banned in the regulations. Other manufacturers have exploited loopholes and just about get away with as they comply with the letter of the law, though not really co-operating with the spirit of it.
  23. Probably not, but a picture of what you're referring to would help. If I had to guess, it's probably referring to XZN.
  24. Seats are leather, door cards are leatherette. I'm not 100 % sure about the controls but I think they're leather too. Some will say modern leather doesn't need conditioner, I haven't found it do any harm, and it's not like it's that expensive.
