Octavia 1 TDi 90 Scrapyard rescued, crossover? ALH with AXR spec.
Octy 1s in taxi spec were still available until (IIRC) 2011 in certain outlets, and the standard taxi spec motor was the ALH. As far as I understand there were no changes to the models after the mk2 came out so if that holds any mk1 from 2005 onwards would be the same. Worth some checking on the parts catalogues to verify this. For a nigh on 20-year-old car she's looking pretty good! Mucho elbow grease on the polishing, no doubt

Setting up a shared folder on Windows 10 to be accessible from Windows 7
An apparently simple task, you would think? Despite extensive Googling{tm} I can't make it work 😞 Following instructions, I've Shared a folder on the Win10 PC. I've tried to add the Win7 laptop as a sharer but despite following the syntax - \\<name of win7 pc>\<name of win7 pc user> Win10 keeps telling me it can't see win7pc. I've also checked in win10 network neighbourhood and whilst I can see the win7pc and even win7pc\user I can't connect to either. Help!

Selling Privately: Marketplace, AutoTrader, Ebay or Gumtree?
As a start to the process I suggest asking someone like Parkers for an idea of value (or autotrader perhaps) and then list it on here with an honest description of its condition, imminent repairs etc. Even if you don't make a sale via that route you should gain some helpful feedback on how best to proceed. Bear in mind the impact of pollution zones in the areas where you wish to sell, and also note that at the moment used cars are selling at a premium but the motor trade news from China suggest the bottlenecks on new cars are easing which will lead to a softening of the used car market.

Front wings
Unfortunately not. The headlamp shapes are different; look at the angles on the rear edge of the lenses.

New driver's seat needed...what will fit?
Photos I can do, to follow. Bear in mind I don't have a definitive timescale - but soon. Hopefully over half term. Pricewise - free to a fellow Brisky, although you'll have to get a travel visa to come to our side of the Pennines

New driver's seat needed...what will fit?
We may be able to help. I'm going to fit vrs seats to my wife's Ambiente tdi and as long she's happy with them we'll have a set of standard seats going begging.

Tailgate struts topic on hatch, again
According to the parts cat HERE there are several variants of the main part number - 1Z5 827 550. I've included the decoded option codes below and whilst I could understand a weight variance depending on the rear wiper fitments I can't see how the colour of the side windows would make a difference? The VRS struts are on the same part number but two different variants - both including the spoiler. I'm confused! 8M0 = W/o rear window wiper and washer system 8M1 = Rear window wiper and washer system with intermittent control 4KA = Side and rear windows in clear glass 4KC = Side and rear windows in heat-insulatingglass 4KV = Side and rear windows in laminated glass Looking at the entry on skoda-parts.com for the RS struts it suggests that the rating of the struts does change according to the all-up weight of the hatch.

Driveshaft part numbers?? Cannot find them anywhere!
You'll need to be more specific as there are a number of different options. Engine code and gearbox code are key; take a look at the sticker in your service book or under the carpet by the spare wheel well. This LINK lists all the drive shafts for a 2010 Octavia 2 if you want to take a look.

Help needed on parts purchase.
Yes, they're in Czech but are still an excellent possibility.

Help needed on parts purchase.
Take a look at www.skoda-parts.com. Their pricing is usually pretty good so even allowing for delivery and VAT they may be competitive.

Anyone own a mk2 octavia sport??
Pardon what might be an obvious question, but do you have an original cover and if so, what part number is on it?

Unlocking a car without a key - is this real?

Unlocking a car without a key - is this real?
- i am thinking about getting this
Just had a quick look through the "cars for sale" classifieds and there's a vrs saloon for good money advertised in Plymouth. I haven't checked if it's been sold but there's no update on the forum to that effect.- i am thinking about getting this
1. Once you commit to delivery you will find it much harder to back out, especially if they already have your money. 2. Do the AA/RAC/etc. still offer inspection services? Later: yes, they do. https://www.theaa.com/vehicle-inspection/- i am thinking about getting this
From what I posted and what my insurers said I'd say that would be a fair bid but at the moment used car proces are strong so you may have a fight on your hands. I'd strongly suggest you look at the insurance damage/repair situation and the service record before offering. It _looks_ a nice car but - as they say - beauty is only skin deep!- i am thinking about getting this
FYI one direct way of differentiating between a facelifted mk1 and a pre-FL mk2 is to look at the sidelamp/headlamp area. On a FL mk1 the sidelamp and headlamp are separate units and on a pre-FL mk2 they are combined into one headlamp unit. I missed that when checking on my phone so again my apologies.- i am thinking about getting this
Parker's valuations for the car in normal good condition: Private Price £640 - £880 Dealer Price £1,415 - £2,060 Based on 170,000 miles with no optional extras My insurers gave me a rough estimate of the discount for a repaired Cat D car of 25% from the above values, although I have no other figures to compare against that one. I would say that IMO the asking price is a little high.- i am thinking about getting this
In case you haven't checked the car details on DVLA here's what they hold for it: Vehicle Details Vehicle make SKODA Date of first registration September 2005 Year of manufacture 2005 Cylinder capacity 1781 cc COâ‚‚ emissions 192 g/km Fuel type PETROL Euro status Not available Real Driving Emissions (RDE) Not available Export marker No Vehicle status Untaxed Vehicle colour SILVER Vehicle type approval M1 Wheelplan 2 AXLE RIGID BODY Revenue weight Not available Date of last V5C (logbook) issued 20 August 2020- i am thinking about getting this
It is a mk1 and they were made until model year 2004 although many have turned up with later registrations, My identifying it as a mk2 was incorrect - I looked at it on my phone and got it wrong. When Ryan pointed it out as a mk1 I checked on my PC and he's right, of course. - i am thinking about getting this
