Active cylinder management?
That's odd. How will they sell it if they won't let anyone try it? Good job walking away.

High fuel consumption after servicing.
Is that the tyre or have you chucked the sticker on something else? If you image search the FRD26 it doesnt look like that. I think @langers2k has nailed it. Different tyre + new tyre + tank variation = your higher fuel usage.

Active cylinder management?
Our seat will happily get 40-45 in the right hands. Lately it has been doing lots of short trips with little care to the economy so getting mid 30s. There seems to be greater variation with this compared to a diesel.

I'm done with Skoda
I would suggest you ahve been very unlucky. You could have had the same issue with any brand. The previous owner being NHs would suggest it may have been driven by a number of people as a service car and although had the relevant service history, the abuse it recieved during use may contribute to the failure. xman also hints at a potential dealer issue. I would push back with the view to getting the car repaire at their cost and take it to another location for future work. That is if you havent alsready got rid.

Active cylinder management?
We have a seat arona with this engine and manual. Plenty powerful enough and we have had it loaded with 2 adults, 2 kids and a pile of related stuff. I'd be happy to have it in a bigger car. My inlaws have it in a Karoq and seem very happy.

B8 pre facelift Dynamic Chassis Control - worth it?
Pretty sure the DCC shocks are reactive* rather than just having different settings so there is more to it than just being able to make them stiff or soft. *They react to bumps in a similar way to the koni fsd so should be much more comfortable than standard shocks. They also seem to last longer but cost a small fortune when they do need replacing.

Superb Estate iV 2021 - Questions
Had a Passat GTE since December. Not a superb but on the same platform. Can't really answer the Skoda specific stuff but point 3 I can shed some light. I have been driving to my late father's place weekly which is 120 miles each way. Most of my in-week miles are electric. Longer trip mpg is in the 55mpg region with a full charge. This reduces the further you drive as you are less able to lean on the battery. When I picked up the car I had a few days of no charging and managed a regular 45mpg. Where the hybrid system will shine, if unable to charge, is shorter journeys as the more stop/start nature will be able to shut off the engine when not needed.

2016. Octavia 1.8 tsi or 1.4 tsi
Just to add another thought: I remember ages ago someone compared the 1.4 power curves to the 1.8. I forget the peak power of the each. what they found was the torque and power curves were very close up to 4-5k revs then the 1.4 would drop off and the 1.8 would keep rising a bit. In daily driving you might find the feeling to be the same and only when really go some will you notice the difference.

Add in wireless phone charging pad ?
Ah yes. I did see that and forgot in the time it took me to post. I need to plug my brain back in. @SashaGrace care to share the kit you plan to use?

Add in wireless phone charging pad ?
I'm in the process of installing an Inbay charger in my Passat. They make the same for the superb so I'll let you know how it turns out.

IV/GTE suspension
So I fitted the spacers today along with the dogbone insert. Only had a blast round 3 block so far. Going a little further later to get the kids from nursery and off on a 240 mile round trip tomorrow and Saturday so may get a better idea of any improvements. Initial feelings are that the steering response is better along with reduced crashyness. All of which I expected from fitting the insert. Spacers at this stage are purely cosmetic I think. Does look good though. Measured the rarb at 22mm. Looks relatively straightforward to get at but main issue would be if any of the uprated ones for r-line, golf r, vrs, etc are the same shape. Should have taken some pics while under there.

Octavia induction kit
So that's why you saw a benefit. The OP was asking about their diesel.

Octavia induction kit
Was the golf a petrol? also the 230 is petrol. Intakes (and other breathing mods) do make a difference on petrol engines. Diesel engines are massively over supplied as far as air goes so you are not going to get any gains from any intake mods.

2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0L TDI 7 Speed DSG
+1 for walking away. If it was on 60k miles then it might be worth looking at provided you get a no questions come back on the dsg. 2½ times the recommended service period on a dsg is not good and whoever ends up with that car should be very careful.

2016. Octavia 1.8 tsi or 1.4 tsi
As this is a UK based forum you may find it hard to get advice on the 1.8. Looks like it's been a good engine in other vehicles though. Also a sweeping statement is that a larger engine doesn't have to work so hard suggesting more reliability.

tuning box testing... DSD
I have thought that they would do better do advertise them as "improved performance" rather than "+40ps" in much the same way they describe their pedal boxes. I have a pedal box now fitted to my Passat after having it on my Octavia. Don't think I would own a VAG car without one.

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
I usually open the door with the opposite hand (Dutch reach around?). Originally used to check for bikes or other traffic but I just got used to it. Not entirely sure how I let the belt go. Will try to pay more attention next time.

That looks really smart and something I wish I had tried rather than going mib2. I had got an android unit but it was a while before I tried to fit it and then found out it was for a MK2 octy. This is really slick. Be interested to hear if it slows down over time as I have heard that of older models. Mostly due to not enough memory for upgrading I think.

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
In that go round the previous owners place with a pitch fork and club them over the head with it. That way they might see how using something wrong has bad results.

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
If it is the seatbelt maybe you should look at how you are pulling it. Looks like you are pulling towards the front of the car too much?

Adjust speedo accuracy using OBDeleven?
@SashaGrace should be able to point you in the right direction. Pretty sure she did the same. Or maybe it was the mpg she did... Sasha?
