the truth about electric cars
There's an inherent risk in drinking too much water or breathing too much oxygen. Life's a gamble full of risks. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Buy an EV or don't up to you. Nobody's forcing you to. Or do buy one and take a gamble. Or buy a Zafira or a MkVI Golf and take another gamble. I hope you've got smoke alarms fitted everywhere.

God this whole EV fire crap is getting boring. Find a hobby to fill your time rather than wasting your life on it. I can recommend Astrophotography 👍

A couple of Astro shots from last night. These are just single shot pics with a little touch up in the Windows native editor. I was hoping to get about 45 minutes worth of shots on Andromeda at 30" each to stack but there was dew building up on the lens so it wasn't possible. Dew heater now on order from Bezos. Canon Eos 250D with a Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 III lens held in place at 135mm using a Skywatcher Star Adventurer GTi tracking mount. Looking towards the north American nebula Andromeda galaxy North Amarican nebula direction again.- the truth about electric cars
Yes, @toot it was a tongue in cheek reference to Sabine's comment in that TG episode- the truth about electric cars
Ten minutes. Ha! I could do zat in a van.- the truth about electric cars
A moot point considering this topic isn't called the truth about ICE cars and coasting. Is it even possible to coast in an EV? I thought not.- the truth about electric cars
Doesn't matter what the EU does or does not do. That's nothing to do with the UK now it's shot itself in the foot. This is about the tories breaking yet another manifesto commitment The US and EU are spending trillions of dollars and euros and going great guns. Even the world's biggest polluter China is making big advancements. The UK is becoming the sick man of Europe again.- the truth about electric cars
From 2020. UK sets ambitious new climate target ahead of UN Summit "The Prime Minister has today (Friday 4 December) announced a new ambitious target to reduce the UK’s emissions by at least 68% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels." https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-sets-ambitious-new-climate-target-ahead-of-un-summit- the truth about electric cars
It was a tory party pledge in their manifesto no matter who said it. Boris was all for ULEZ as well until someone else continued with it. He was all for the EU as well at one point. It's hard to believe a word they say. If they told me today is a Wednesday I'd have get confirmation from a reliable source- the truth about electric cars
It makes a mockery of what they said in 2019 and what they were voted in on "We will lead the global fight against climate change by delivering on our world-leading target of Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as advised by the independent Committee on Climate Change". I think the car industry will dictate what vehicles are for sale in the UK. Maybe import some new old stock even that's been sat in a field somewhere for a couple of years. All announced in what amounted to a party political broadcast before mentioning it in Parliament as is convention and after Parliament has risen for a two week jolly. Apparently Lindsey Hoyle is livid.- the truth about electric cars
No need to rush to electric vehicles then. The tories have decided they're going to turn the UK into the dirty man of Europe.- the truth about electric cars
Nice of Rishi to **** off a global business such as Ford. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/ford-uk-says-any-delay-on-government-petrol-car-ban-risks-ev-transition- Closing Amazon Prime account.
I have no need anymore for my UK prime account but I have dozens (100s) of movies and TV series I have bought in the My Stuff section. Whilst I believe these will still be available to me as a non Prime member, is there a way to download them and store them on a local media storage device be that external SSD or even Blu-ray™?- Felicia pick up blower fan

I'm aware of that which is why I said maybe it's the Essex boys popping to the east of London 🙄- the truth about electric cars
Maybe it's just the Essex boys popping to the east of London then who fancy a joyride in the county of Essex 🤷 Southend is at number 10. @toot is safe enough. Very rare when traveling to the ferry at Harwich not to see a burned out vehicle on the A12 https://totallossgap.co.uk/blog/post/the-worst-and-best-areas-for-uk-car-theft/518- the truth about electric cars
My first thought as well. I didn't notice what Graham describes in any places I've lived. Essex was famous for car crime and car theft IIRC.- the truth about electric cars
If you want a fully loaded EV van to go and do your job of work a few hundred miles away (ie 200 miles or more and not necessarily in John O Groats) then good luck getting there never mind back again on one charge. IIRC only the E Transit comes close with a full load range of 196 miles. BT/ Openreach are testing them last I heard. Not so practical for the work I did which needed a van with a work bench and full height to work in but possibly doable. More suited for local home installers/ testers/ planners/ managers etc.- the truth about electric cars
So one battery fire and four other cars parked in close proximity, a rubbish truck fire due to some dumbass putting batteries in their waste and an e-scooter battery fire. Was it a cheap Chinese import. I note all the stories were from the Daily Fail - a 'newspaper' that, like others, seems to have an agenda against EV cars. Scaremongers that lot. Not even fit to be used as a Wikipedia citation.- the truth about electric cars
They've started using the taxi version of those round here. Just call one via the app like an Uber https://vhhbus.de/hop/- the truth about electric cars
Google references are neither here nor there. What matters it's what's specifically worded in the MoT requirements which don't use the word strict. Strict could be a sliding scale. If you want strict, get a car MoT'd (TüV tested) in Germany. It'll undergo a several hours long scrutiny. Granted, the TüV is valid for two years but there's nothing overlooked and no detail too small to fail you on. There's also no such thing that I know of as a 'friendly test station'. LED reverse bulbs I had on my MkII Fabia which passed an MoT in the UK I removed upon selling it in Germany. Placed them in my Rapid and were pulled out and replaced with standard bulbs at its TüV test. I was told not to refit them. That's about as friendly as a friendly tester gets here. That was at a garage we (family wise) have been using for decades. Just remembered, I had HIDs on it as well. I was told to remove them before the dealer I bought my Rapid off would accept it as a trade in. They also passed a UK MoT.- the truth about electric cars
It doesn't mention 'strict test' in that. Only that most vehicles must be tested. The word 'strict' doesn't appear at all. It also says they're 'usually'tested using a meter. Usually doesn't mean always.- My second car I owned many years ago, fond memories.
That was 'Witness' co-starring Kelly McGillis (Charlie in Top Gun). It was about a young Amish boy who witnessed a murder in the city. Ford's character was a city detective who went to the Amish community to try and find out what the boy had seen. The scene you describe is where the community were raising a new barn. A fine film from the mid 80's. No Amish were harmed in the making of this film. Nor were any actual Amish in it.- My second car I owned many years ago, fond memories.
Anglia? My dad had one of those. 1600 I think it was. He told me he put a diff from a lower powered model in and said he could almost pop a wheelie at the traffic lights. - Photography Thread
