blower fan stopped - completely.
well, after a week parked up in the long term carpark through the coldest coldest snap in 12 yrs, i jumped into Donkey 2 at half eleven last with my fingers crossed... fired up on the button first crank. thank all the Gods, as it was also raining and i didnt know where i might get a bump start if i needed it! i was confident though as the battery is only about a yr old. but, obviously it was all foggy, and me getting in wet from the rain didnt help that, so on went the heater to max, and the fan speed went up to start blowing, except the fan didnt do anything. i tried every setting, combination of temp, speed and direction it did nothing! thought to myself right, its been super cold while i was away, the battery may have cranked ok but perhaps its a bit down on power so its shut down the aircon system for a while.. so a quick manual defog, and i went to pick the rest of the family up from the terminal and head for home, with the screen re-fogging itself, and the air intake to windscreen vents setting the only airflow, i sat in 4th to get the engine heated up a bit faster so the air was at least warmed coming through which did enough to keep the mist at bay while driving home and eventually warmed the cabin up from the 5deg ambient outside temp! so, first checks today will be all the fuses, but given the controls were lighting up as expected, im more thinking stuck fan? or resistor pack failure? had a search last night before i fell asleep at 2am and that was a common cause on older mk2s but nothing recent came up..

Guess the Hire Car.... Mac's 2019 game
photo update. its a chunk, plenty cabin space, but the boot isnt any roomier than an octavia, different shape, so volume pretty close i think, but i reckon octy still has it (mk2 at least..) headlights are good and bright, but do have that fuzzy blue light edge of the beam pattern on dims that i see on and annoys me with other cars. full leather seats are comfortable, and the back up camera assistant is pretty good - not sure where the cameras are for the above right screen trickery, presumably somewhere along roof rails? dash display is alright and its an auto.. that keeps changing its mind about what gear to be in at most of the local speed limits only 5000 odd km on it, so hard to tell how well stuck together it all is, but feels solid, other than some previous renter managed to break a clip off one of the parcel shelf string mounts, so that side keeps falling out and hanging weird.and said parcel shelf looks abit warped. i must ask the BIL how the bev ine is going, just havnt been able to talk to him much lately

MEGAPARTS.EU Usage
ive not used them, but if youre looking for an EU based parts supplier, Winparts are german based, ive used them for shipping to Ireland a few times and they supply the "better" branded stuff too (febi, Bilstein, etc)

wet passenger footwell mk1 estate
check tge sealant around the windscreen for any signs of separation or delamination of the glass. i gave a memory of someone having a similar problem and it was a gap where the actual windscreen had started to fail letting water in

MOT fail front spring break, 3 year repeat!!?
lighter thinner springs is not about counter acting the weight increase of modern cars, its about cost reduction. thinner springs use less materials thus are cheaper. plus thinner "eco friendly" cheaper paint. also if the OP's mechanic bought cheap springs to do the replacement - unfortunately this is what happens

engine starting then cutting out
definitely immobiliser.. do you have a second key, and does that one also have the same issue?

So I went and bought a Jaaaag
who will act like Rick and morty fans to people who dont like it - " you just dont understand the complexity of the design". No, i do, i just think its asinine and i dont like it...
-
So I went and bought a Jaaaag
its almoat like they took the feedback on the massive m3 grill to heart and said " well fine, if you dont like that, then we wont do it again... here take THIS instead, is it small enough for ye fussy feckers?"
-
It would be simply clever...
skoda sales aren't droppig because of advertising budget its because the value is no longer in them as new cars - pricing over here is getting pretty close to vw / audi money for similar platformed cars, and people will buy the based spec "premium brand" if there isnt much extra outlay for a perceived better quality vehicle (badge snobbery)

Not sure what it is.....
i have a feeling its a mk3, theres no buttons in my mk2 between the front of the gearstick and the ashtray/cubby... there is on a mk3 though.. no bonus buttons on a normal mk3 either though, so its definitely a user addon for the front mounted machine guns. check for mounting rails behind the front grill, might be still there

Approved used Mini (or how I do so love dealers and their interpretations)
6 yrs old and not used much possibly it is suffering an existential crisis but... if the warranty claims to cover the battery and its still under said warranty then id be having another slightly less polite conversation about it .

Photography Thread
family woodland walk on sunday, spud jr was chatting about how tall the trees are, managed to sneak this before they moved. nearly got it perfect (if the tree top was in it too) but not bad for the 2seconds of setup time i had!

Sachs 998 411 Front Springs
fyi for anyone else looking, turn your steering on a full left hand lock, and on the passenger side clean the dirt off the end of the front ARB. the colour dot marking can be seen there to identify which one you have. im on a blue, thus the front bushes are a BJ suffix. jacked up a back wheel to try the same on the rear arb, but couldnt seen enough to find a part number sticker or marking on it, so will need to get the axle stands under it and try again. i was at work on my lunch having the first look so not enough tine or gear to go under looking..
