  1. Evening, does anyone know the part number for the interior plastic trim panel at the bottom of the front passenger door? colleague in work has a mkiv and one of the kids managed to crack the piece, so hes looki g to try and get a replacement.
  2. check out @FUBAR's thread about his android HU with bluetooth, gps etc. ebay job, and was very happy with it
  3. morning @CrassAss is it a hatchback or estate you have? first, easy, place to look on both would be that the seal is sealing properly. get some coloured chalk and rub it all over the seal on the car side. then get a damp cloth and rub down the hatch side. close the boot gently (to not force the seal) and open it again. the chalk should transfer all the way round, if theres any gaps, then its not sealing properly. the fact you say the seal has water in it points towards that, may need a new seal.
  4. i cant remember exactly, as its a long time since i recall it coming up on here last, but do a search in this sub section for NGK and Gap you should get some hits. edit... search result.. this one has details
  5. gap check those plugs.. also i am 99% sure that mapped 1.8T need ngk plugs (with a corrected gap) search that in this sub forum for the exact spec and if its really really really not the plugs, get your coil packs checked.
  6. my wife's arona has a 7speed dsg (dont which one i dont know) and ive used the manual mode a few times, but I feel like its upside down.. push forward for an upshift and pull back for down shift just feels wrong. it feels like pushing forward on an aircraft yoke to gain altitude would - wrong...
  7. what spark plugs did you use when replacing them? and what was in it? may need to check the gaps as i seem to recall mapped 1.8Ts needing the gap adjusted, but that may be in specific setups, may be that your map needs it and it hasnt been done..
  8. wire looms looking fine and being fine can be different things.. get a multimeter in there and start continuity testing them, in case theres any breaks.
  9. Hi @mark_amus when you say misfire, is the idle rough? fluctuating up and down and not settling? reason i ask that is the MAF fault on that list. if it is, try unplugging the maf and run it again. if no change it rules it out, if it settles down then the maf is done, and you need a new GENUINE one. not a pattern part, youll just end up buying an oem one anyway.
  10. so, yeah, its a golf estate. its easy to drive, easy to gauge spaces. keyless fob, electric handbrake (not something i like in any car)
  11. 🤣🤣 it never moved all day yesterday.. shops not open we just wandered around the area ate lunch out and went to the beach, so no photos taken yet. I got... a.... VW Golf Estate! its ideal, boot floor space is the same as my mk2 octy ( obviously abit more height available, but not needed as the bags fit the same way as at home) diesel, 6 speed manual, massive television screen to do all the button work, so i have to figure out all that crap.. it drives... basically the same as my car but newer ( havent even checked what year it is ) going to Carrefour shortly, a daylight drive after the dark o clock settle in drive the road..
  12. similar but different.. tried to get my colleague to get all the 9's, he missed them as the we passing through the tag lane of the toll and it beeped, distracted him for a second and he got the 100k instead 😞 "Take the photo!!!" "what was that?" "dipsh17, you missed them "
  13. would be nice, but i doubt it
  14. yeah, im thinking it being Spain improves the odds a bit, that said i booked the same in Alicante back end of 2022 and got an MG ZS suv...
  15. its time again... pick up Saturday night in Malaga. booked with Budget through AutoEurope as a "Seat Leon Estate or Similar" what will it be!!!! Ill update on Sunday, as the flight arrives pretty late Sat night
  16. distracted by focussing on the noise and having read the other post
  17. she sounds diesely, and law of averages and fuel type sales of new cars back in 08 , id hedge a bet on its a tdi, but if it is as mike suggested, and it does sound rough and horrible, petrols can sound diesely... id lean toward agreeing though, and look at the chain tensioner.
  18. other things ive noticed with the newer light systems are that they over power older lights. so, the light from , say an Octy 2's H7 halogens just gets eradicated by the higher energy photons from oncoming leds so you lose the visual range of even tracking along the verge for a line and spotting pedestrians and cyclists at the road edge, but also the number of times I have passed new vehicles with Xenon or matrix headlights that then even when dimmed are so bright (and highly aimed) that im driving along with their lights casting a shadow of my car in front of me because they just totally swamp the halogens in blue toned light until i get on down the road and open a bit of space is getting more frequent. Though, tbh even led street lights overpower halogens in lots of places i drive through and definitely reduce the ar eas my lights are illuminating for my sight line - the shadows are wrong for where im looking if that makes sense? ultimately factory LED and Xenon are much better for "the driver using them" but a bit 5hit for everyone else around them, while Halogens are just 5hit for everyone. manufacturers just need to work on finding a better balance on the led and xenon systems. led retrofits H series are tempting if like me you spend a lot time in the dark and know the Halogens are crap and want better, but i wont get them because i know their crap for everybody else.
  19. ohhh.... lights.... ohhh.. what a subject. i spend a fair chunk of my time driving at night for work, so i get to experience all the fun! personally ive spent a number of yrs with "higher output" / "extra bright" halogen bulbs in my current and last 2 cars. the Philips extremes, Osram Night breakers etc. and, given i currently have standard Osrams back in Donkey and see 0 appreciable difference from the "Night breaker Laser" bulbs they replaced (after a very short life, disappointing on its own) i now see again they are all BS. LED lights on new cars are definitely more blinding. i wonder if, similar to what Root has said, they are coming ex factory set up as LHD focus and not being adjusted when they are delivered in RHD markets until they fail an MOT/NCT? or just badly set in factory and never checked/ adjusted. i cant help notice the people saying they dont see much issues all have usernames alluding to their vehicles being SUVs... thus higher up so, ya know, above the headlight level, of course its going to be less of an issue. but conversely all those SUV and Crossovers (inc missus Mac 's Arona) obviously have higher bulbs shining in us hatchback and saloon drivers' eyes and mirrors. Kias have been horrendous for bad/ too high focus for a few yrs now, imo, and BMW are pretty annoying too. i could be wrong but i also think the sensor for the autodimming Rearview mirrors struggle to adapt to LED/Matrix light sources hitting it at night. but a factor that has to considered is also people's reliance on new driver aids like auto lights and self levelling that dont react properly or too slow is a problem. ban H series LED replacements though, they are just awful...
  20. do you have a longer video? from that 4 second clip, it sounds like creaking wishbone / roll bar bearings to my ear and past creaks and rattles..
  21. in my mind a GT car is - big enough for passenger comfort and luggage. a lovely interior to be in while driving and aesthetically pleasing on the outside (for the commoners to admire ) quick and loud when wanted but effortless quiet cruising for the bulk of the journey. you shoukd be able to drive it 500miles and still be able to stand up without grimmacing when you get out. the F Type is definitely a GT. Aston Martin DB9 def GT, where as i think the DB11 crossed too much into sporty looking. @Aspman can say what a Quatraporte is like, but it is also imo a GT car. a old Rolls isnt a GT, i dont think, more a mobile sitting room. an SLR could be a nice GT car, but i dunno is it too persistently loud for a long cruise?
  22. injector dying. had one go on my cayc during the summer. if it was the egr, id expect you to be getting a flashing coil light and or eml coming up (as ive been getting for a couple of months)
  23. you can also tap the word "freedom" in any post and it brings through to the shop options. its why its underlined edit, sorry. as below the hyperlinking has been lost at some point! @cheezemonkhai could it be looked at again?
  24. i agree, it looks almost edibly good in that shot..
