EGR issues?
i think its sticking open, as the fault code comes up after lifting off completely and coasting for a few seconds, when the throttle goes to 0, i would expect the egr to close. and thats when the coil light starts flashing. if someone could give more info on what the egr error percentage relates to it would help narrow it down. in other news, i took out the 3 month carista sub, the 7 day trial seems to be gone, and so i ive played with the extra settings, and so as i am a child, i now have the needle sweep on start up activated but i also found the headlights voltage was up to the max. im wondering if this is why i seemed to be blowing bulbs quite quickly, so ive turned that down 12.5v, see if the life expectancy increases!

EGR issues?
So, as mentioned elsewhere i reckon i have a sticking EGR. ive been having a flashing glow plug issue after a very specific set of conditions and then the EML comes on, but not every time. those conditions are - engine fully warmed up so the egr comes online. drive at a consistent speed for a few mins with very little throttle change, typically speed over 50mph. then lift off completely, and let it coast in gear for a few seconds (slowing down handy when coming up on traffic as an example) then accelerate again.... ping, flashy light. fault scanning gives a yellow mass airflow sensor error code "pending" if just the glow plug light, or a red error if the eml is on too. so, some live carista data shows the following while cruising at 130kph on the motorway, 5th gear, 2500rpm - my question is, given the speed, does the air volume look right? to rule out the maf (no other symptoms of a dodgy maf, so i dont think its that) And... given the negative error percentage compared to the commanded, is that pretty obvious that the egr is stuck? and if so, am right in assuming its sticking open? as the error kicks in after lifting off the power, when one would assume the valve would be closing. but that said, i reckon it runs more efficiently when the light is flashing which would say to me its stuck closed as its getting a cleaner burn with out the recirc'ed gases 1.6cr cayc engine.

Amundsen+ gps mislocation
okay, i posted this, kind of, in the chuckle thread last week, but i do want to look into solving it. over the last few months the gps hasn't been worrking correctly at all. it spent quite a while showing me in the middle of the sea with no land visible even at full zoom out. last week i flicked it on to see if it was resolved and it showed me as being around Marlborough. i live in the South of Ireland, so a misposition of about 500miles East... i havnt updated the maps as i do t have the SD card that came with the car. so, would getting a card off internet and doing the update make a difference or is this a problem with the antenna?

A/C fan boost when selecting reverse gear.
my mk2 octavia, 2013, among the last out of the factory, does this.. it does make it sound louder but its just the movement of the airflow source when the baffle moves.

Forgive me father, for I have sinned... Hocus Pocus
main problem with this is that by the time that happens my body will potentially be too old and breakable to do alot of the stuff i really want to do now

sometimes we have to accept that time does not exist in enough quantity to fulfill all our desires... wait until you have kids and free time becomes a distant memory of a past life time

Body camera recommendations
i cant help with camera advice. However, how old is your daughter? that list isnt a child being bullied, shes being actively targeted for harm. is it the same 2/3 scrotes all the time or is it widespread? i presume the school is being utterly unhelpful and useless about the entire saga, but surely the cops have been involved aswell?

Photography Thread
back in the old house there was a service chamber just down past our place in the foot path. one yr, weather like this, there was a billion ants out on the footpath around it, and 3 days later 999million of them were up swarming for hours. like that, just there. i dont mind ants, as long as they are not in my kitchen...

VW Jetta
i have noticed more and more diesel jettas getting the boy racer treatment around here recently too.. nothing like a bog standard 1.6tdi dragging its arse around and rubbing tyres on wheel arches

Rear shocks question
because they only have have very vague and limited access to a dataset of parts. theres also the problem of "platform sharing =/= correct". ie, a mk1 octy and mk4 golf - the shocks for a golf will fit the octy as same chassis but my god the ride will be terrible, and its a minefield to make sure youre not getting the wrong ones as most ECP etc parts olaces havent a notion theres any difference, and its particularly difficult to get matching rear suspension as this is where the most weight/load difference is across models on same chassis. again, look in the mk1 octy section for how many people over the yrs have ended up with saggy arses because they were sold/bought the wrong springs/dampers because they were listed as "this will fit". send pete your vin by PM and he'll confirm what you Should have fitted ex factory. adverse performance issues are - if they arent the load rating for your specific vehicle they may ride fine for a while but fail prematurely. or they may not ride well at all in certain conditions. good road wont notice it but get on the back roads you could be be banging around the place or feel like your in a boat rolling in the ocean waves.

Adding a USB port
holy ****e its my identical dashboard, which i reckon yours is another of the 2013 end of production "exclusive" spec? where in the Rep are you? im in Sth Tipp. on the actual actual question... where would you like to be plugging in the phone? id probably just take the power from the Cig lighter wiring and run a cable through the dash/centre console to somewhere near where you want the output available i have a double usb cig lighter adapter thats a good tight fit and havnt had any bother with it for over 5yrs now.

Guess the Hire Car.... Mac's 2019 game
i dont underatand why frwnch gearboxes in particular have to be so mushy, when there are so many other better drive trains available that they could copy.

here it is, in all its pale lavender metallic "glory".. ****box. drove it from Dryden to Dunbarton asda, it sounds awful under acceleration, its rolly and floppy in the bends, and brakes are.. not great really. even my FIL said (he came for the spin) he was disappointed with how it felt as a passenger given Citroën always had really good suspension. also the aircon is absolutely abysmal. i did manage to turn off the lane departure though, so that was quieter
