morning and hello! is it a 1.8T Octavia VRS or 1.9TDI Fabia VRS youre looking at buying? your post doesnt specify but says 1.9

aaand.... Donkey 2 will be staying with me for quite a while longer - full service done, and... new injector, new front dampers, springs, top mounts, arb bushes, droplinks and wishbones. Rear pads and discs, reaf caliper (1 seized, rear droplinks...) not more creaks rattles knocks etc. roll on to the next service interval and it will be due a timing belt and and water pump, and get the aircon rad replaced then aswell. couldnt afford to get that done aswell this time!!!

@FUBAR got a pretty decent android based HU and fitted the whole thing without too many headaches. GPS, handsfree, everything you can think of needing, and it wasnt a bad price either.

be really carefull when youre picking them out on alot of parts websites too. as they tend to lump alot of "compatible" part numbers together from Leons and Golfs etc where the weights and thus spring rates are different. theyll fit but the ride wont be what it should.

car dropped to mechanic for tomorrow's booking. pedalled home in the heat, nearly suffered heat stroke in 15mins across town on the bike. brought him out to listen the idle after telling him what had happened, and as soon as he heard the engine run, within 5seconds he just went.. thats an injector, stupidly common on the 1.6. (which i already knew from reading about it quite a lot on here. was just hoping id get away with another while!

anybody got a plumbing layout for the aircon system? friend of mine's mk4 isnt blowing very cold, and its going in for other work. wants to check for any obvious joints etc that may be damaged or loose.

okay, so neither carista or torquepro are flagging any error messages. live data from carista at idle - rpm and fuel rail pressure seem right? at 1870 rpm was aiming for a 2k hold,but my foot wouldnt comply i also pulled the engine cover off and fiddled the injector wires. injector 1(? first on left) did make an awful racket for a few seconds while i shut down. wriggled the cable again and started back up ok, but with the same slightly rough sound..

yeah, ill see if my torque pro dongle will connect later on (bit sporadic the last few times i plugged it in) and try for a scan. i am suspecting an injector though 😞

last night i had to go drop my nephew back to his girlfriends place. i drove to the pick up, dropped 20miles up the road, sat chatting with him for about 15mins (hadnt had a decent conversation in months/yrs) then drove home. no issues at any time. then suddenly when i stopped at traffic lights about 5mins from home, the idle started almost chugging like it was missing a cylinder. sounded like it drove ok the last bit home, as long as the revs didnt drop under 1500. no eml came on and no error message on the maxidot. its booked in with a mechanic on Wednesday for a service and getting all my front suspension replaced, but between now and then where should i start having a look this morning for obvious stuff? im 50/50 about driving it anywhere today or tomorrow. bank holiday today and i can probably sort getting to a work meeting with a colleague tomorrow morning so i can work around it if driving it might cause any bigger issue.

is it the starter motor? iirc there was similar squeely noises on other members' cars from the starter motor clutch.

theres plenty other places on a mk1 that will be very wet before the pollen filter gets it

IF it isnt the immobiliser (and theres a strong case fir it to be this) i would be looking at a bad earth somewhere after the loom work was done.

as above, you need a diverter valve not a dump valve. forge 007p(iirc) with the right spring seems to work very well. and it would need reconfiguring of the map, its going to be looking for exhaust pressure readings that arent there with a straight through exhaust. (and hope you dont sniffed out or heard by your local LEA... )

right, i need to do the front shocks and springs on Donkey 2, and have got the following from looking on the car - springs driver side check 1 violet 1 orange 1 blue. translates to 1K0411105AQ on 7zap, but then on a parts website they all say its not compatible and give a different list of options when i do the "reg lookup check". driver side strut 1K0412021JP. this doesnt seem to exist as a part number?? so, has someone changed these previously with wrong springs??

ha! yeah, we have a few real vintages around too. and several bodykitted early 00's is200's... i try not to weight them too heavy in the average though

i live in a small estate of 23 houses. nearly every house has 2 cars. my cul de sac within the estate has 2016 320d & 2016 Cooper SD 2018 yaris and 2015 vivaro (business van) 2014 s class 2019 tiguan & 2021 partner (company van) 2016 yaris & 2019 courier 2013 octy & 2020 Arona (me) 2015 Jazz 2022 corolla & 2009 Rio saloon. the above is about the average across the estate, there a 2008 focus diesel, a 2009 E class, a 2009 golf, 2019 lexus rx suv, a 2020 c class, 2022 santa fe.. even an old transporter van (cant remember the age). take the town over all approx 30k people and id say the average around 2014 - 2018. alot of pcp buy outs if i was to guess.

move farther out from the house so your not getting the light gathering off the gutters into the shot as that will wash out some of the other celestial light sources nae bad at all though
